Don't think DEFENSE will be the name of this game. AC will get their fifty plus points per game. The defense will HAVE TO slow Powell running game just enough. This will be an OFFENSIVE SHOOT OUT. We all know offense sells tickets. The DEFENSE wins championships. Will AC's defense step up?

You bring up a VERY interesting point 92D. I know from personal experience that one can only beat their head against a political wall just so long before they realize they are wasting their time there. These kids have four years to make a difference in the game they love. I'm not speaking of just average players with average talent. I'm talking about kids with real talent that REALLY want to win football games. I'm talking about kids that have enough scholastic and athletic achievements to maybe win scholarships to further their education. Winners want to be with winners. Winners don't want to be with losers. THAT IS LIFE. I'm not speaking of players who just want to jump on the bandwagon of another winning school program. I'm talking about players that have TRIED to make a difference at one school and realized they themselves were unable to make a difference there. Their decision was the difference between bettering themselves or sinking with the ship.

Oskie,seems to me (I could be wrong, of course. I thought I was once, but I was mistaken) that perhaps Lake City has come full circle since it was a high school back in the day. I remember them having good girls basketball coaches. Always competitive! Can't remember their names, though. (I apologize for that). Nobody's bashing any coaches, regardless of what they have coached or their origin. My comment to Opie was meant to pose the question, "If I'm a football kid looking to play football at the high school level, where would I want to play?" With Gillum and the Prices at AC, if I WANT to be competitive, WHERE WOULD I WANT TO GO PLAY FOOTBALL? My answer, of course, would be AC. ....NOT Clinton. Or Fulton, right now. Kids want to win. They don't care WHERE their coaches originate. Sorry if I offended you. Nothing personal.

Going to be pulling for AC, 92D, of course! Don't agree with Powell being just too strong, though. Don't get me wrong. I think Powell's running game will be hard to stop for AC...IF THEY CAN stop it. AC's offense will more than likely score their fifty plus points average per game but, I think the little scat back for Powell might just be a pain in the old pigskin for AC, just like FootballDad suggested. That being said, I think AC's offense will more than compensate for what their defense lacks this early on in the season. I also agree with you, in that I think AC will see the Panthers again before the season ends for EITHER team, NO MATTER the outcome of Friday night's game.

No offense Central fans, but, I have to agree with the colonel. Helton left his starters in, I guess, so the score would not look so bad. Poor judgement on his (Helton's) part. That being said, there comes a time when old coaches need to just gracefully fade away. Love the breathe of fresh air the Gillums and Prices bring to the table at AC. Should have happened a LONG time ago.

MM...you are exactly right. Mabe punted in middle school. Heck of a linebacker and fullback in middle school, also. Kerr was he77 bent, bound, and determined to make him a lineman in high school. The kid has good hands, too! Don't know exactly WHAT Kerr was thinking. I guess that's why they paid him the BIG bucks and my behind set in the stands. But, anywho...I can certainly appreciate colonel's attempt at discretion. Sometime's the less opponents know, the better off we are. Would just like to see the powers that be use his (Mabe's) talents a little more. And on a more serious note...AT LEAST HE KNOWS WHO TO BLOCK WHEN THEY DO PUT HIM IN!!!
