  1. Jones is a good QB and should go somewhere(he may even go as a defensive player), but the QB I was talking about was the Giles QB. Great arm, moves in the pocket well, and can run. I'm sure schools will be knocking down his door recruiting him.
  2. Congrats to the Tigers on a good season. We got to the quarterfinals, not bad at all! Great job to the players and coaches this season. You have made us all proud. Congrats also to a good Giles Co team. Your QB is one of the best I have seen in a long time. He threw lazers out there and was extremely accurate as well. I can see why so many ppl are recruiting him. The facilities their were some of the best I have ever seen in high school, in this state anyway. Very nice! Good luck to you next week. I have to pull for Liberty b/c they are in our district. Should be a good game between two great teams. We have played both and I can tell you that it should be a great matchup between the two teams. Great season Big Red! Take a little time to reflect on it, then get back to work for next season!
  3. What a game between two great teams! Page gave our boys all they wanted and it went down to the wire. Great job Big Red! Congrats to the players and coaches. Good luck in Giles Co next week. Your community is behind you! C'mon Lexington, let's pack the house Friday night!
  4. For Page fans trying to find LHS: get off I40 West at exit 108(Parker's Crossroads) and go down 22 South about 10 miles or so. You will see the stadium lights from the highway on the right. Have a safe trip.
  5. I totally agree with 66 and the wise one. What that player for Page has done from what I have read is very admirable. Sounds like a team leader to me. The wise one is correct. These are kids and they have enough pressure on them without ppl on here running them down. BRT, please don't disrespect our little town. True, we don't have all the stuff Franklin has, but we have a great little town with great people. More disrespect from someone who has probably never even been here to know what is here. I would never disrespect Franklin, so don't disrespect Lexington. We are proud to be from here and proud of our boys and coaches. Good luck Tigers! Go Big Red!
  6. Good luck to both teams. Neither would have gotten this far if they couldn't play. The only thing that bothers me about this post is NO ONE outside of Lexington gives this team any respect, but that's the way the Tigers like it! It fueled their performance last week and will again. Again, no disrespect to Page or their fans, but the Big Red deserves respect that they aren't getting. They will earn it AGAIN tomorrow night. Go Big Red!
  7. Congratulations to the Big Red Tigers! 31-8. LHS had over 400 yards rushing! 472 total offense! Great job!
  8. Just to let all the people on here that didn't give Lexington a chance tonight know 24-0 TIGERS halfway through the 4th. I never discounted SH as they are a good team, but it just seemed like NOONE outside of Lexington was giving our boys a chance. Great job Big Red!
  9. Liberty's only loss was a 2 pt loss in week 0 to Henry County, so it wouldn't surprise me if they went a long way. Good luck to them. Represent the district well!
  10. Lexington lost to South Side, Hardin County(5A), and Liberty, whose combined records are 24-6. They stayed right with an excellent Liberty team for about 3 quarters. Don't discount them just b/c you don't know much about em. Should be a good game between two good teams. Good luck Tigers!
  11. Congratulations to the Lions on a district championship! Everyone involved with Cannon County Football over the years knows how HUGE this is! First time in the playoffs in many, many years. I did not get to see you play this year, but I have been keeping up with scores. Great job to the players, coaches, and anyone else involved. You have come a long way since the 0-10 and 1-9 days just a few years ago. Good luck in the playoffs!
  12. Congrats to the Tigers on making the playoffs and good luck in the first round.
  13. I have seen them both play and here is my opinion. Milan has a good team as always. They do have a few injuries that may hurt them when they get deeper in the playoffs though. They won't go to state, but I can see them making it to the semis. Covington is very young. Their best talent is in the sophomore and freshman classes. A few of their older skill-players that would have helped this year are now going to Brighton. They will be better next year, but in two years look out! I have said the future is bright in Covington and I stand by that. Hang in there Charger fans, the success of old is coming back.
  14. Keep it up Chargers. You looked similar to the Covington of old against Ripley and you played tough against a good South Side team this week. I saw the backfield against Ripley last week. Burton and Williams will be solid and you have a good fullback with another good one in Nick Terry coming up. Keep working. The best is yet to come for you Chargers!
  15. Congratulations to Covington. This is the way they seemed to win when they were making the playoff runs in previous years, low scoring, strong defense. Ugly, but effective. I agree that you are seeing the future backfield for Covington in Williams and Burton. Both did a great job in middle school, and when is the last time you saw very many freshmen have the most yards rushing in a game on the VARSITY team. Doesn't happen a whole lot at a school the size of Covington. I have seen him play since the 7th grade and Carlos Williams is gonna be special! Great athlete and great kid. BTW, the freshmen team won 46-0 the night before without Williams and Nick Terry(probably their two best backs) as both have been moved up to varsity. Hang with em Charger fans, the future is bright in Covington!
  16. Congratulations to a good coach and a good guy. I wish for continued success for you at Adamsville.
  17. Good luck to the Chargers! Keep working and success will come. Good luck against Ripley this week!
  18. Congratulations to the War Eagles on their victory and 3-0 start. Good luck against Huntingdon next week!
  19. Congratulations to the Lions on their win. 2-2 so far and an eyelash away from 3-1. Adamsville will be tough and should be the better team, but remember a little guy named David who beat a guy named Goliath! Anyone can beat anyone on any given night, but be ready because Coach Gray will have his team ready. Good luck!
  20. DK much about Bruceton except Jordan is good. I wasn't sure if he was still there. Scotts Hill should be 2-1, possibly 3-0 right now if not for shooting themselves in the foot too many times. I think they will win this week. Last week's first official varisty win will boost their confidence. Good luck Lions!
  21. I may just be a "West TN Redneck", but I didn't get the popcorn thing. Good luck to all the teams. We will see what happens playoff time.
  22. I understand what you're saying about the bracket, but there are three parts of Tennessee, not two. JB had to beat some Middle TN teams to play the West TN teams just like the West TN teams had to play each other to get to a Middle TN team. All this will play out when playoff time comes. All this debate means nothing til then. They all have to get here first.
  23. We are definitely in agreement. I never met Linville, I wasn't in Covington when he was there, but I know his reputation and the success he had at Covington. He will do well at Rosemark eventually as will Wheeler at Covington.
  24. No disrespect, but it sounds like some ppl think Jo Byrns is in West TN and they are not. They are a quality program, but not on our side of the river, just to clear that up in case there was any confusion.
  25. Tigertime, don't know how you thought my post was hatin' on Wheeler. If you will read it again, it is just the opposite! I believe the Chargers will turn it around. I was in Covington when Beaubein was there and he nearly ruined the program IMO! The main thing Murphree had that Beaubein didn't is that he made those boys believe they could beat anybody! Wheeler was there when they were successful and knows what will work there. They just need time. It won't happen in one year. I know for a fact they have a good coaching staff both at the high school and middle school there. All they have to do is keep working and success will come.
