  1. Don't underestimate Covington. These young men have more heart than any group I have ever seen! Should be a great game between two great teams.. Great job so far Chargers! One more to go!
  2. I wouldn't say West TN football was that down. Several undefeated regular seasons, Someone in the semi-finals in every class but 6A, and three teams in the championship game. Idk how many of those three will win(I figure Henry Co will tho), but I think that's a pretty good year for West TN.
  3. Great season Chargers! I know you wanted that ring, but the semi-finals ain't too shabby! Proud of each and every one of em! Seniors, you will be remembered forever for getting this far. If any of you are reading this, I wish you great success in whatever you choose to do in life. Juniors, it's your team now. The bar has been set high, but remember that you helped set it too, so you can do it again. You know what it takes to get this far again, so go do it. Go Chargers!
  4. Good luck Chargers! Wish I could be there, but I have family Thanksgiving obligations. I'll be in Cookeville to cheer you on if you win tomorrow. Do what you do and never quit. Go Chargers!
  5. As I said last week, both these teams are great. You don't get this far if you're not. Dk much about Maplewood but I know they beat Liberty and when you shut out a team in the quarterfinals, you have to be great. As I have continually said, one thing about this group of Chargers that stands out is their heart. They have great talent of course, but their heart is what has put them over the top. They have been down at some point every week so far and refused to lose. Should be a great game between two great teams. Good luck Chargers!
  6. Another great game in Covington last night between two great teams. Both played hard and gave their all. CC has nothing to hang their head about. They are a great football team. One thing you have heard me say about the Chargers on here before is these boys have more heart than any group I have seen, and they showed it last night again. It was great to be able to be there last night and see them victorious. Great job to the players and coaches. Proud of y'all! Good luck against Maplewood. Go Chargers!
  7. This will be another great game. Covington has had two "heart attack" games two weeks in a row. The heart of these kids is unbelievable. I know how good CW is b/c I helped coach him in middle school, but I also know how good the rest of these kids are 2. They will give everything they have and will not quit till the final whistle no matter what. Coach Wheeler and his staff have done an excellent job bringing Charger football back after a few down years. Chester Co is also an excellent team. They lost by a TD to Lexington and by not much more to Liberty and these were earlier in the season. They have hit their stride the last few weeks and have prety much dominated people lately, have an excellent coach, and will come to play. Should be another terrific ball game in Covington Friday night.
  8. Two teams from the same district again. I was at the game last night and it could have gone either way. Again, both are good. I think Covington wins as long as they don't turn the ball over or have a bunch of penalties like they did last night. It'll be another great game to watch, but I'll take Covington by a TD...again. I sense a theme here. LOL. Charger football is them traditionally winning close, hard fought games and that's how I see this one going. Obion can definitely beat them though if they don't play their best.
  9. First of all,I think it is stupid for T$$AA to put teams from the same district against each other in the first round. Both are good. Coach Stowe will have his team ready, and how impressive has Covington been after losing their best player(and one of the best in West TN) early in the season? I saw them play Milan, and I am continued to be impressed by the heart of this team. They have been down several times this year and never quit. They came back and beat Obion, and almost did the same to Milan(who is still Milan) after being down two TDs. I think this will be a war, but I give it to Covington by a TD.
  10. I agree with you wingman. I'm sure as Warrior said that the coaches have their own policy of taking care of situations like that. However, they used to not have to b/c the leaders of the team would take care of stuff like that. With quality teams like Alcoa, Milan, Trousdale, etc it still works that way. You have to have leaders within the team to step up and take control. The coaches can't see everything that goes on.
  11. I was there and I think it says more about Lexington than it does Milan. Milan will be Milan just like always. It tells me Lexington will be a force to be dealt with in the fall. They made the semi-finals in 4A last season and surprised a lot of people. They may be even better this coming season. Don't be surprised if they are not in Cookeville. Good luck to both teams this season.
  12. Congrats to the Tigers on a great season! Great job players and coaches! The Big Red community is proud of you!
  13. I think Lexington will beat White House. People mention that White House beat Liberty. Lexington beat Liberty at Liberty for the district championship and it wasn't as close as the score. They dominated. Dk if they can beat Trezevant and they may or may not beat White House, but I just believe Lexington is playing their best and peaking at the right time, so don't discount them yet.
  14. In some cases, who wins the district doesn't matter to them. One example, Lexington BEAT Liberty at Liberty for the district title by two TDs and LIBERTY is the one seed and LHS is two! I know there are other factors to consider, but when they play in the SAME district, shouldn't head to head count more????!!! I have heard it happened in other instances too, but I know for sure it happened in this case. Way to go T$$AA!!! You dropped the ball AGAIN!
  15. Thought that was classy the way the Vikings honored their teammate who passed away by leaving the score at 55(the young man's number). Great way to remember him. Good luck to the Vikings in the playoffs!
