  1. what are some strengths of the mustangs? They seem like a strong team, but havent seen them play. What do they do well?
  2. Good post. I agree. Siegal is a really good team with good players and well coached. They have forwards who can score on anyone. I have said that all year. We will have to bring our best game and that may not be enough. Siegal absolutely can win this game and go on to win state. I also believe if we play hard and stay composed that we can win the game and win state as well. It should be a really good game between two good teams.
  3. Our JV team and players are great and I am very proud of them. They have been incredible all year.
  4. "classles post" its easy to take shots at someone when you hide behind initials....who are you? if your a kid...your post is expected...if your an adult...you took a cheap shot and hiding behind initials...cmon be a man...put your name out there and then say what you mean....its a lot harder...
  5. The officials do the best job they can. i believe that. The call in the hendersoville game was seen different by everyone. I didnt see a elbow and even believed the smaller girl jumped into the hendersonville player and ended up with the worst of it. However, the official truly believed he saw the elbow so he called it that way. He was in fact 2 yards from the players. even though i saw something different, that center official is a good official and has called some great games in HS. Officials can only call what they see and try to be consistent. I think the overwhelming majority of officials try thier best to do so. They are underpaid and asked to do a job that is very subjective in nature. I dont believe any of us can do a better job. Unless there was a way to pay officials more, the quality is going to be suspect much of the time. However, there are some really good officials out there, and I dont have a problem with officiating. Heres why. If my team does what it is supposed to do and put the ball in the back of the net 3 or 4 times, then one bad call or one unlucky play doesnt hurt us. If we dont win a game, its my fault as a coach for not having the team prepared or the players didit execute. A red card can be a different story, but overall, teams win or lose due to there own lack of ability or coaching and not due to bad officiating. A good team finds a way to overcome all obstacles. even bad officiating. once a team takes that attitude, bad officiating is never an issue becuase that team is already mentally prepared to overcome it as an expected obstacle on the way to victory. either way, missed calls or bad calls happen at all levels and will always be a part of it. With all the negative talk, I think we should find times to praise our officials for taking the time to officiate. We have so many good people basically volunteering there time because they want to help. not hurt. To all officials, i say thank you for your efforts. Like all of us, i know you try and do your best. We all make mistakes. ps. im not an official
  6. to many posts are filled with anger and mean spirited...there meant to be fun guys...my posts are all in good fun...but people want to find fault no matter what you say...so thats alright...the two goals centennial scored on franklin were in fact meaningless and irrelevant...thats not being mean...it is what it is.....the score was 4-0 at the time with 5 minutes to play and most of our JV team was in....the two goals did make us put the starters back in...other than that...they were irrelevant....that not being mean...it is what it is....two by the way goals against our JV late in a game that was already over...4-0 with 5 minutes to play (im sorry, but its over).....i would say that the first goal centennial scored was a nice goal under any circumstance...the player hammered it from 18 yards....great goal...but irrelevant to the outcome of the game....
  7. Greenville has a good soccer team. I havent seen Bearden? They seem really good too? What are there strengths and weaknesses? Looking for an objective post from anyone that wants to post.
  8. Ha ha he he ha ha..im looking close and all I see is 18-1-3 in the toughest district in the state and the toughest schedule in the state. Gave up 5 goals all year and 2 by the way meaningless goals after being up4-0 on Centennial. Regular season District champs, District tournament champs, Region Champs, and scoring 32 goals vs. 2 in the process of state tournament so far. Along the way regular season, beating Siegal, St. Agnes, Notre Dame, Brentwood, Centennial, FRA. etc.etc.... But your right, Brentwood (ranked #2 at the time) at least scored a goal in defeat. But if you look really really close, youll see a bus leaving Franklin High School Teusday night on its way to state tournament again. But oh no, we might have to play some more ranked teams. So scary.
  9. MJUHB is family as far as im concerned on coacht.com when it comes to girls soccer and i dont even know him. He is a great supporter of the girls games and tries to be fair when analyzing teams or games. He is never mean spirited or ugly when he makes an opinion. He also supports his programs and does things for people. I have found that most people who criticize are always the people who never actually contribute anything or do anything for anyone unless they get something in return. MJUHB isnt that way and people need to stop being mean spirited to posts he makes in good faith. Cmon, its an opinion board for goodness sake. If you dont agree, say you dont agree and give reasons, but dont get personal. MJUHB, keep up the good work. and what was that ranting post about Siegal not having Lanworthy. Langworthy doesnt go to Siegal. She goes to BA. That poster didnt demonstrate a lot of knowledge of HS girls soccer to be critisizing anyone.
  10. have no dog in this fight. From an objective viewpoint; That kid did not deserve a red card. She didnt do anything malicious, reckless, or even I dont believe intentional. Im not sure she even fouled the other player. To me, it looked like both players went straight up for a bouncing ball to head it, and the smaller player from Beech fell to the ground from the contact. I even think the smaller player jumped into the Hendersonville player. But since she got the worst of it, a foul was called on #7 from Hendersonville. In my opinion, a no call would have been fine. But a card, much less a Red card was just mind blowing to see come out of the official's hands. I was like "you gotta be kiddin". She doesnt deserve that. Now she has to sit out two games. Ridiculous. Undeserved. Hendersonville played with a lot of heart after that and found a way to win. I also believe that Beech showed a lot of hustle and effort and proved to be a team to contend with. Other than that call, I dont know that the officiating was bad. Physical games are tough to call and the center official I think did a good job overall. But that call was a way to hasty and red card wasnt deserved.

  12. Hendersonville has a great coach and a proud program. They are always in the picture.
  13. Good Post. I like posts that provide some real analysis and give real information of a game and not just the typcical you stink we had injuries or we would have won comments. good job on this one.
  14. Siegal and Riverdale both have a ton to proud of for the season. Sounds like a game that makes high school soccer fun. Both teams are difficult to game plan for because they can both score a lot of goals in a hurry. Becka Smith has proven at high school and in very high level club games that she can score on anyone at anytime. Marking her with a great player isnt going to be enough. At some point she will get some looks and she will bury them no matter who is marking her. Her trigger is quick, accurate, and powerful. To keep Becka from scoring you have to keep the ball away from her and out of your defensive half. That means pressure from the front runners and midfield. If that breaks down and the ball is within 35 yards of your goal, Becka is a problem. To say the mark changed and therefore Becka brokefree understates the real issue of why Becka really scored a hat trick. The pressure and game planning from the front 6 or 7 broke down and the ball ended up in dangerous positions in there defensive half and Becka took advantage. In other words, if Siegal could dominate Riverdale (as most predicted), the ball would not even get in Siegals defensive half of the field with any regularity for Becka to have any real chances at all. If the front 6 do their job, then anyone can mark a great forward because she never gets the ball in her attacking half or near the goal. Thus, Becka scored her goals becuase Siegal as a team didnt defend very well, not just she scored because one player stopped marking her. This isnt to negative analysis toward Siegal, its Becka should be given her due. She scored 3 goals on a really good team and should be given a ton of credit for it. At the same time Seigal has forwards that are dangerous. Wynn and Sloan can score on anyone at anytime as well. Even if Wynn isnt playing forward, Sloan is still very tough. If Siegal couldnt score, then Riverdale must have done a pretty good job defending as a group, because Sloan can score against anyone. If Wynn isnt up top with her, it doesnt matter, she is still dangerous. Bottom line is that it doesnt matter who was injured or what circumstances forced certain personnel decisions and position changes. This game was Riverdales night. They are criticized for not playing a tougher schedule, but Siegal is a very good team with or without the injuries and with or without the personnel changes, they still are very good. Riverdale deserves the credit for getting it done this time around. Next time, Siegal very well could be on there "A" game and win 4-2. Both of these high schools represent Murefreesboro soccer really well. They are very good and as dangerous as anyone in the state to game plan for. I give Siegal a lot of credit for a being a strong team playing a strong schedule. I just think its time to give Riverdale some real credit and applaud there kids for a nice season. They have earned it.
