  1. THat's pretty awesome. We sure look forward to seeing Rod wearing the Orange next year in Neylnd stadium. Good luck the rest of this year!
  2. Macdaddy, do you coach at Clarksville NE? What happened to the head coach there?
  3. THe LCYFO teams are very successful, the 7th-8th grade team this year is undefeated and has only been scored on twice I think. However, as was posted earlier, this is against much lesser talented teams. When these kids get to the high school and have to play Central, Powell, West, Halls and Maryville, it sure changes things. I agree with lcfootball that the high school coach needs to mend some fences with the youth program. THat is the feeder program for the most part.
  4. I have heard much of the same about Coach Gossett. Not usre if he is interested in the job, but he would probably make a good head coach at LC. Coach In Hoops, sounds like alot of sour grapes to me. I have talked with parents of former BB players that are glad there was a change in the BB Coach at LCHS...
  5. As has been posted many times, this program needs discipline . THat means discipline in the weight room, off-season work-outs, and consistent discipline that flows form the coaches down to the players. A new coach may not be any more successful than Coach White was but If the new coach instills discipline in the program, I think they will at least be able to be more competitive.
  6. No reason to wait to work out. Why wait on a new coach? YOu can work out on your own.
  7. I would like to thank Coach White for all he has done trying to make LCHS a winning Football program. I feel for him and his family and wish them the best. Sometimes change is good for everyone involved.
  8. Nice post Speedzone. I agree, Coach White is a nice person that probably deserved better. I am sure he did all he could to make LCHS a winning program, however, sometimes things don't work out and change is best for everyone. Coach White will be fine in whatever he decides to do and LCHS Football will move forward as well. THe players need to realize that winning next season starts right now. THey should be working out to get bigger, stronger and faster. If tey sit back and wait until this summer, it will be too late. Hang in there and keep giving 110% and you will see the results next season.
  9. I would like to know if this is factual and not just a rumor.
  10. I find that hard to believe. Things may change now that UT is down a RB (Coker). From all I have heard, Andre is a class act and would definitely be an asset to the UT program. There is still a ways to go in this whole recruiting process.
  11. You both make good points about early spring/late winter practice. I guess my reservation is that the weather can be bitter cold, rainy, or even snow this time of the year. I also know it's not much fun to hit or get hit when it's 20-25 degrees outside, much less throw and catch the ball.
  12. Is Andre Sterling being recruited by UT? THey are crazy if they do not try to get this kid. Look at what Rogan is doing as a true freshman. It's great to see the local guys play in Neyland Stadium.
  13. Again, I'm curious about what you all think about LCHS Spring Practice being held in late January/ early Feb? Does not make any sense to me.
  14. Maxi6, every time I read one of your posts, I say "Man, this guy makes sense" I really wish you would consider coaching again. You seem to be very knowledgeable and someone kids would respect and want to play for.
  15. Notre Dame is PATHETIC! THey always have a top 5 recruiting class and tell recruits what they want to hear, not what the truth is (i.e. Smith would play safety, but they move him to LB almost immediately). Not so sure Weiss will last up there. I'll take Rogan over Smith any day.
  16. How many schools that are serious about football have spring practice the end on January / beginning of Feb., typically the coldest time of the year? SInce the coach at LCHS coaches track, that's when we get to have spring practice. I wonder how many other schools in the state have spring practice this time of the winter? Does anyone know??
  17. My point exactly Doc. Maryville coaches "get it". Their players want to win for them because they have a disciplined team and the kids are treated with respect. I agree that parents should teach kids to respect others, however, respect also should be earned. One way to do this is to do what you say you're going to do. Don't say one thing and do another (parenting rule #1).
  18. I think there is a big difference between knowing and understanding football and being able to coach it, at least to be a successful coach. If you can lead the kids and get them to respect you and want to win for you, you have won half the battle (not an easy thing to do). Again, I think it all starts with discipline and treating the kids with respect, just as if they were your own kids. I would think you will find most all the successful coaches are able to do this. What happens is many of these young coaches have very young children or no children at all and do not know how to treat 15-18 year old kids. Again, the successful one's do and they don't have 12-15 players quit on them every year.
  19. Dr, where would a QB that didn't even throw a touchdown pass in High School have a chance to play college ball? One reason this QB was so inexperienced is that the LC Coaches decided to not play him in games last year when LC was losing badly. From what I hear, Maryville plays their back-up QB almost every game to get him some experience. Friday vs, LC, they played 5 QB's. Good job Coach Quarles.
  20. Maxi6, any chance you would like to get back into coaching???
  21. Agree with LChalfback on this. I have watched LC for 4 years now and it seems that they are intent on playing alot of first team players, especially QB, even when the game is out of hand. You would think the back-up QB would get some PT when the score is 34-0 (Maryville in the 4th Qtr.) so they would have experience going into next season. Especially since there were only a few JV games this year.
  22. C'mon Doc, Leadership MUST start at the top. I agree you can't make someone a leader, they either have it or they don't. Coaches have to lead and players have to respect the coaches authority. THe only way to make this happen is for the coaches to be consistent with their discipline and treat the players with respect.
  23. Just my two cents on this conversation... I think regardless of who the coaches are, they must instill discipline and leadership in the LCHS program. THe discipline must start with off-season workouts and coaches must realize that actions speak louder than words. Discipline must be consistent with ALL players. THere is talent at LC, however, I think the coaches need to adjust their schemes (both offensively and defensively) to fit the talent that they have to work with. Also, treat the players with respect and make them treat each other with respect. Obviously , none of this is an easy task, but without discipline good leadership and respect, you will never have a real TEAM. Teams, not individuals, win football games. Ask Maryville.
  24. If I'm not mistaken, Halls was only up 14-0 at half. They returned the 2nd half kick-off for a touchdown and then on LC next series, intercepted a pass and scored immediately. 50 seconds into the second half, it was 28-0 and that was all she wrote....
  25. The stadium is old and outdated. The field is probably one of the best in the area due to the coach that takes care of it. From what I understand, the gate helps pay for unifroms, equipment, travel, etc...
