  1. Having experience in big games counts. I thought that was a huge advantage for Maryville tonight. Tennessee High did have the "deer in the headlights" look as early as the 1st Quarter.
  2. Maryville 35 Tennessee High 10
  3. On offense: #22 fullback (Nideffer Sorry if I misspelled) #9 Wingback (Anderson) #31 Whitten On defense: DE's #31 and #44 are very good players. Also Free-Safety #8 is a good player and can cover a great deal of ground.
  4. After having seen both teams up close, I don't think Tennessee High can score that many points on Maryville, especially if Maryville takes away the big play(which their safeties should be able to do).
  5. I will throw my prediction in:......Maryville 35 THS 10
  6. This is really funny to me, we are already at 235+ posts on this thread and it isn't even Monday! I hope this game lives up to the hype because it has been talked about on CoachT for about 6 weeks now! My advice to Tennessee High players and fans is: don't tug on Superman's cape, don't spit into the win, and don't talk junk to Maryville before you play them! They are masters at using anything you say against them to motivate them (which they don't need!). Just show up play the game and if you win you won't have to worry about getting respect, you will have it.
  7. Let me state "for the record" that both of these programs (coaches, players, etc) have a tremendous amount of class and have had great seasons up to this point. Both of them beat my favorite team (Mo West) though they were at 2 very different points in the season. I have to go with Maryville in this one (especially if Tallent and Byner are healthy). My advice to both teams and their fans is enjoy the moment, it is an honor to play the Friday after Thanksgiving. This is the first time in 4 years we haven't done that, and when you don't make it that far you realize how special it really is to go that deep in the play-offs. If the weather is good I will be there Friday night and expect a good game. Whoever wins bring back the Gold Ball to East Tennessee.
  8. Well Vikings you got what you wished for, let's see what you do with it.
  9. Finally someone getting back to the game. I am looking forward to seeing this game tomorrow night. It should be a good one.
  10. I can testify to the fact that Maryville can play in the rain. We (Morristown West) have played them twice (in a Monsoon in the semi's in 2001) and this year and they have beaten us pretty handily both times.
  11. How can you take play-off games lightly when it is a win or go home situation?
  12. This should be a great game. Is anyone else hurt for Maryville besides Tallent and Byner? They had better get them well quick. It is hard to beat a good team twice in the same year. I plan on being at this game, should be a good one.
  13. If I am not mistaken all of Maryville's offensive lineman are back from last year. However, I think one of them #52 has been moved to defensive tackle. Nonetheless they are a great group.
  14. Well I am a Morristown West fan, but I can tell you we have always been treated with class by the overwhelming majority of THS fans.
  15. I have seen both of these teams play up close this year. Tennessee High is better than most Maryville people think they are. They are very sound and well coached especially on defense. Their problem (as everyone else's is) is that Maryville is going to get 21-28 points (at least) on about anyone they play. If the Rebels eliminate the big play from THS's offense, then I think the Vikings will have trouble getting that many points. It should be a very good game though. Good luck to both teams, I plan on being there the Friday after Thanksgiving.
  16. Not so fast my friend the officiating went both ways. In the first half MoWest controlled the time of possession and had 2 phantom "holding" penalties AFTER the Trojans had 2 first downs (on 2 different drives) inside the THS 20 yard line. Also MoWest had 2 other unforced turnovers inside the THS 20 that really killed them. I am not trying to take anything away from Tennessee High they are having a great season and anytime you are 11-0 you are a good team, no matter who you have played. I am just trying to keep the reporting "fair and balanced." To the Trojans I am proud of you. You played like warriors tonight. It is hard to say goodbye to a great senior class, but for those of you coming back if you are willing to dedicate yourself some great days could be ahead for the Trojans. As for the 64,000 dollar question. I have only seen them play 1 game, but if THS plays Maryville like they did tonight, then they are in serious trouble.
  17. Thanks Ron, you have always shown a great deal of class towards our program. The Trojans will never give up and I believe also that better days are ahead.
  18. Due to the fact that Maryville only loses when they don't play up to their potential, if they play their best each week it sounds like there is nothing to worry about.
  19. Our prayers are certainly with this young man and his family. May God be a source of strength and comfort for him during this trying time....from Morristown West.

    AC Football

This is getting to be a ridiculous pattern on this site, a team loses a big game and people come on here and say the coaching staff needs to be fired. Anderson County has one of the best coaching staffs in the state! They are always a well-coached hard nosed, physical team. Their coaches also do a great job of finding schemes that give their kids the best chance to win. Face it people, unless your son plays for Maryville, Riverdale, or AE you probably aren't going to experience an undefeated regular season. I am glad the boys work hard, but then again THAT IS WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSSED TO DO. I don't think any coaching staff is going to out-work AC"s staff. So grow up, support your team and the coaching staff and be a parent not a problem.
  21. This doesn't suprise me at all about Mr. Brice. As I stated on another thread in a lengthy post he did a hatchet job on Coach Woods up here at Morristown West last week on the "domination" quote used in that paper. He seems to be a sensationalist.
  22. 21 was out of the game with an injury that he suffered against Jefferson County. The week off should help allow him to be 100% for East. I will always be behind the Trojans and that includes the players, trainers, managers and coaches!
  23. DMoyers, Maryville did whip us last night there is no disputing that, however I am going to take up for my boys. Nobody for Mo West. quit at any time last night, they played hard the whole game. Good luck to the Rebs the rest of the year.
