  1. I'm going to assume that Whitehaven will have more overall team speed. In order for MJ to pull off the upset they're going to have to keep them guessing by calling for a more balanced attack. Run a lot of misdirection and sprinkle in some trick plays. On defense, for goodness sakes, bring your corners up and jam them up. Don't play 10 yards off the LOS and start back peddling at the snap of the ball. This will disrupt the timing (if its a pass play)and should let the safety know whether it's a run or pass by whether their receivers coming out blocking off the LOS or our trying to get past that jam to run their route. Good luck and go MJ!
  2. I agree with you but I would also find different ways for Raines to get the ball. Pretty good athlete from the games ive seen. Good luck to the Bears!
  3. totally agree with you Kisler. And just because you have size/strength on the O-line dont mean your going to be a great unit. I would rather have a smaller line with better technique and aggressiveness than a bigger/stronger O-line that's slow and technique not very good.
  4. You are correct and everybody knew that Including the coaches for MJ. They continued to run the same play on 1st down and pick up 5 to 8 yards on the run. How do you combat speed? Have your guys in the right spot and angles. Yes MCGavock had faster athletes but MJ was out coached. There were plenty of games in the past where Roger didn't have better athletes but found ways to win. Trey hasn't been able to do that.
  5. I went to this game. MJ started out this game trying to be a power run team as so many people thought they should be because of the quickness of McGavock. Except for one missed tackle at the line of scrimmage that resulted in a 40? yard run by the wildcat QB MJ had no run game what so ever. The QB for MJ did a good job stepping up and delivering some passes from pressure on the edges all night. MJ defense is terrible. Seems like TP is still calling the plays on the defensive side. Mistakes on special teams also hurt MJ. My personal opinion is and always has been that TP is not the coach to lead MJ. MJ has the money and facilities but needs a head coach that can let his coordinators have more say so and maybe you won't have so much turnover year after year with assistant coaches. MJ was simply outplayed and outcoached last night.
  6. A Good example is my son. He has been the starting Center his last 3 years and has played all 5 years at this position. He informed me after his Freshmen season was over this year that he's not interested in playing next year and possibly never again. It hurt a little when he informed me because he is a good player and absolutely loved playing football over the years but at some point he has lost the will to continue. Once you hit high school there is really no off season anymore and that is exactly why alot of kids decide not to play past middle school.
  7. Bison Freshmen beat Beech 14-8. Bison defense came up with a big stop as time ran out. I will say that The Bucs coaching staff did a good job with milking the play clock down to 1 or 2 seconds. With only 19 players dressed out for them I would say that extra time was crucial from being so gassed in the 4th quarter. We were also missing some key starters/players from injuries and an ejection from last week. Congrats to Gallatin Freshmen on their big win. After us playing those 2 teams back to back I knew it would be close and one heck of a game.
  8. Its a shame MJ and Hendersonville Freshmen don't play each other this year. MJ's defense vs Hendersonville's rushing attack would've been a very interesting matchup.
  9. Congrats to Hendersonville. After playing back to back games against these 2 I'm going to say Gallatin is going to have to,and should be able to, complete several passes to win this game. Mondo, the fumble at our 2 yard line and yalls onside recovery that led to the TD right before half was a killer for us. Fumbles and penalties have absolutely destroyed any hope for our team the last 2 weeks. Both Gallatin and Hendersonville have really good teams and it should be a great game between the 2.
  10. After starting out 0-4 it would have been very easy to give up for the season but this team has stayed motivated and continued to grow as a team. Shows a lot of character! Way to go Bison!
  11. Watching this gasme on mytv tonight and will have to say I thought the wet conditions would favor the run game of WC but that's not the case. 20-0 MJ at the half. MJ is starting a lot of sophomores and juniors. If lil Perry can keep some assistants there for next year it could be a very good Bears team next year. They have some size and speed on their Freshmen team this year. Nice facilities. There's absolutely no reason MJ shouldn't be a solid team year after year. The only thing that could hurt in the future is if another school is built.
  12. I guess the questioning starts at the Freshmen level now. Yes Gallatin dominated the game. It's hard to get going when you're flagged 14 times and turn the ball over that many times especially when you give them a short field. GWave1, what's the latest with the new school coming in? Do they already know what the zoning is gone to be? I live in Creekside Subdivision off of Long Hollow so I'm thinking we might get zoned for it. I know it won't effect my 14 year old( he might get the choice to choose) but I got 2 younger ones that it cold affect.
  13. when you turn the ball over 5 times and get flagged 14 times you are going to get a loss to an average team. You do that with a good team then you get beat bad (41-13). 2 side notes-1) Gallatin coaches once again questioning eligibility for SC players before game started. 2) not that this cost SC their loss but GHS constantly got away with blocking in the back that resulted in 2 long TD runs and several more that resulted in 10-20 yard gains. Hey keep doing it if the refs aren't going to call it! I would!anyway, like I stated, that wouldn't have changed the outcome as far as the win/loss column but would have made for a better game. Gallatin has a good team. Good luck the rest of the season to y'all and congrats on the big win. Good to see rival friends and families getting together after the game.
  14. I'm sure GHS will try to spread receiver(s) out very wide. I like our chances for 1 on 1 coverage with the receivers. Stack the box!!! One thing GHS has always done well at (sometimes too well) is their receivers blocking down field. SC and Gallatin Freshmen play Thursday night at SC which should be another great game to watch. I believe the only loss for both teams is against the MJ Freshmen.
  15. Congrats to the Bears. Was a very competitive game. Some nice adjustments in the 2nd half by the Bears. Good luck the rest of the way.
  16. This team looking very impressive! Hville keeps reloading!
  17. SC Freshmen had a bye week. Next week against MJ. MJ 3-0 SC 1-0 (Lebanon canceled/postponed our game with them and last nights bye)
  18. Don't know why? WC doesnt have very much of an offense and their pass defense isn't that good either. They do have a solid run defense.
  19. Could of, should of, would of, but the fact is the Bison are 0-2 on the year. Need to keep working hard and hope for a few lucky breaks a long the way. We're going to need a lot of lucky breaks next week!
  20. Station Camp over Wilson Central. Other than that, I agree with rest of your picks.
  21. Is the playing field above water now?
