  1. If you look whats going on in in District 9aa basketball is compose of 8 teams, four of them are public:Martin Luther King, Hume Fogg, East Lit, and Pearl-Cohn, and four private schools that are CPA, FRA David Liscomb, and Ezell Harding. These public schools have done pretty well aganist these private schools since the district form two years ago its been Metro Schools that have won the district title games. However it looks to change with the emergance of CPA.. This year however the public schools in this district are having a down year. Merto Schools have a combined record of 21-29 this year while the private schools in this district are soaring on the boys side and thier combined record is 35-28 now you may not say that is two bad but considering how the private schools are getting better in the district it will get a whole lot worse. However the public shools are working like a private school 3 of the 4 public schools have middle schools that feed into their high schools. Which are Hume Fogg, Martin Luther King, and East Lit(note no of them have football programs) so they are in the rebuilding process. However Pearl-Cohn on the other hand is a public school in this district without a feeder middle school and a football program a pretty good one at that. Football is king at Pearl-Cohn followed by there great Marching Band then thier Basketball program. Pearl Cohn use to be both Football and Basketball Power Houses in the mid to late 90s however alot things have change for one thier Football program are now 3a and there basketball program are in AA. But this is the problem for PC basketball program is that the football program normally makes a deep run in the playoffs all the way into basketball season. This year four of the five starters played key rolls on the football field and was prevented to play basketball. Three basketball games were effected because of the football season PC was having. The schoo adenttdence have went from about 900 and has fell to about 600 in a spand of two years, so its not looking any better but there hanging in there. However if you ask any of the public school coaches in this district if they have a problem with playing private schools in the district they all say no because three of the four have went to state and two of them have won state only one private school have won state in basketball and that is David Liscomb.. they dont care about those private schools because they know how to beat them and they have done so.
  2. 9AA SCORES ON JANUARY 8TH David Liscomb 42 Pearl Cohn 29 CPA 43 East Lit 28 Hume Fogg 43 FRA 40 Ezell Harding 70 Martin Luther King 31 Standings as of tonight Ezell Harding 12-3 (5-0) next game vs CPA David Liscomb 13-3 (4-1) next game at Hume Fogg Hume Fogg 9-7 (4-1) next game vs David Liscomb FRA 11-6 (3-2) next game at Pearl-Cohn CPA 8-5 (2-3) next game at Ezell Harding Pearl-Cohn 6-4 (2-3) next game vs FRA East Lit 5-9 (0-5) next game vs Martin Luther King Martin Luther King 2-10 (0-5) next game at East Lit
  3. 9aa scores January 8th CPA 67, East Lit 19 FRA 58 Hume Fogg 53 David Libscomb 64 Pearl-Cohn 63ot M.l.King 59 Ezell Harding 36 Standings as of tonight CPA 12-3 (5-0) next game at Ezell Harding FRA 12-9 (4-1) next game at Pearl-Cohn David Libsomb 9-6 (4-1) next game at Hume Fogg Hume Fogg 8-5 (2-3) next game vs David Libscomb Martin Luther King 3-8 (2-3) next game at East Lit Pearl Cohn 4-7 (4-7) next game vs FRA East Lit 6-9 (1-4) next game vs Martin Luther King Ezell Harding 2-10 (0-5) next game vs CPA
  4. HUME FOGG 47 MARTIN LUTHER KING 43 In a rival between the two smartest schools in the state, these are not your mothers nerds were talking about these kids left all out on the court, it has to rank one of the top three rivals in district 9aa, Hume fogg came into this game looking to prove that they can compete with anybody in thier district, the Royals on the other hand was looking to bring the same intensity they bring against PC, it look to favor the royals seeing that they have taken the last 5 of 6 against the Knights. This is a rival that every district 9aa fan should go watch. The atmosphere was electric the Hume fogg student section was 200 students strong and had some creating chants all during the game one of those chants were "WERE IS GERALD!! WERE IS GERALD" now m.l.king had there student section as well maybe not as big as but they had there good chants as well. even the cheerleaders was getting into the action. The Royals had jump out to a 13 to 3 lead in the middle of the first quarter it look to be a Royal blowout, but Hume Fogg led by there wing player Adrian Williamson got them back in the game with a couple of three pointers he doesnt have the prettiest form but his shot goes down. At the end of the first the game was tied at 13-13. At the start of the second quarter the Knoghts jump out to a 8 to 1 run and since then the knights never look back. The knights took every blow the Royals gave them. The knights look like a team that nobody wants to face, However the knights now run into 9aa power CPA the question from the knights is there big man they are really going to have to come strong with Z Mason coming into the house of the Knights
  5. It was two years ago were Nashville had the toughest district in the mid-state with Hunters Lane and Whites Creek was must-see games were both teams running up and down the court at will and Mcgavock and Antioch was the physical rival match-up normally over look by the Whites-Creek/Hunters Lane rival. But things have change now the legendary coach Jim Nollner is at Antioch with tensions to win state. Maplewood is on the rise with a steller sophmore that knows how to throw the ball down. The story of the month will be how Mcgavock does this month with a tough schedule having Antioch going to Mcgavock then CPA a 9aa power going in next week. STANDINGS GOING INTO JANUARY Antioch 9-2(3-0) have yet to play there best basketball, and that is scary. Maplewood 12-3(2-1) Very young and talented team, but feel they have much to prove Glencliff 8-6(2-1) the colts will live up to there mascot the dark horse of the district Deantay Alexender will have a huge say so about this district race Mcgavock 10-2(1-1) tough couple of weeks for the Blue Radiers starting with visiting Antioch this Friday then they will host 9aa powerhouse CPA Hunters Lane 6-7(1-1) lost a heartbreaker to the Firebirds of Pearl-Cohn in the Christmas Tourney at Mcgavock(65-64) but overall this team is starting to get better Stratford 7-9(0-2) Looking for some identity but this team plays tough with anybody Whites Creek 2-14(1-3) just not a good year for the Cobras but alot of poeple are paying attention to their talented freshman team
  6. STANDINGS GOING INTO JANUARY IN DISTRICT 9aa January is the second important month of the high school basketball season. its the month were all district races start to take shape. In district 9aa the favorite is CPA to win the district, however CPA was a 17 point favorite to Fra and won by just by 10 points, then against David Liscomb a 11 point favorite and CPA won it by three in Overtime. But the big Storyline of December in 9aa was That M.L.KING beat their biggest rival Pearl-Cohn with only three players on the court with 6 minutes on the clock in the fourth quarter. M.l.king won 60-52. 9aa Standings C.P.A. 10-3(2-0) tough place to win at this week as they visit Pearl-Cohn F.R.A. 9-8(2-1) played cpa tough David Libscomb 7-7(2-1) Got hot in the begining of last month but then got really cold with the weather Pearl-Cohn 4-5(2-1) Coach Wharton looking for his team identity, better find it Quick as CPA visits the Firebird nest this week Hume Fogg 7-3(1-1) Should see if the Knights are real contenders after playing a cupcake schedule East Lit 7-6(1-2) closed their tournment on good note(2-1) after losing by 30 in the first round M.L.King 3-7(1-2) Does not play hard until they play the firebirds beat them twice this year already Ezell Harding 1-9(0-3) playing hard the past two district games Hottest team-East Lit did pretty good during their tourment looking to carried that until next year. Dark Horse-Hume Fogg has a chance to upset some teams this year having Adrian Williamson avgering just under 28 points this week Toughest Scheudule- P.C. has a tough two weeks ahead of them they must go atleast 6-1 the next two weeks to stay alive in the district(including beating CPA at least once Coach on the Hot Seat-Coach Vic Wharton must turn his team around if they dont beat anybody they must win aganist the Royals, because the lost the firebirds took against the royals did not sit well with P.C. boosters High school game of the week:January 4th 10-3 CPA AT 4-5 PEARL-COHN
  7. PEARL-COHN 65 EAST LIT 36 The hype of this game drawn a big crowd it was a matchup between East lit quick guards and the Firebirds BIG physical power, also a special matchup between sophmore guard Troy boseman and senior guard jojo sandifer(childhood friends). The first quarter was the most exciting quarter Pearl-Cohn had a 12 to 9 lead. However the game got ugly quickly between the second and third quarter Pearl-Cohn had 36 to 12 run. The "in your face defense" PC was playing frustrated the Eagles. Jo-jo Sandfier was clearing getting into his counter parts head(Troy Boseman) talking to him saying "ah he dont want the ball","he cant shoot". Clearly getting in his head holding the eagles second leading scorer for 0 for 6 from the floor and 0 points. mean while Jo-Jo Sandifer lead game high with 20 points and the second leading scorer PC forward Will Carter with 12 points and the 3A Mr. Football came off the bench and added 7 points. as the Pearl-Cohn announcer was chanting out "dont play with it". As Pearl-Cohn improves to 3-3(2-1) they will be tested in their next game against Mcgavock on the First day of the x-mas Civtan tournment in a prime time matchup at Mcgavock.
  8. EAST LIT 53-HUME FOGG 48 East lit improves to (4-5) (1-1) against Hume fogg (4-2) in a thriller at East lit gym. This game between two teams who are trying to find there identity in district 9aa. Hume Fogg had look to have the advantage in the front court however the front court of Hume fogg is big and tall but fairly weak. The tallest guard on east lit team is six feet. In the second half Hume Fogg big men miss a total of 09 layups the wing men of Hume fogg are strong led by Sophmore foward Adrain Williamson with 25 points. After the game some of the Hume Fogg players refused to shake hands with the opposing team. Even though Hume fogg lost an emotional game they have to respect the teams win and move on. Coming up next for Hume fogg is Ezell Harding which they should win handily. Hume foog must rebound during there Christmas tournment after playing a pretty weak non-region schedule. East lit on the other hand won this game strictly off tournovers they press, played deny man, and the 1-3-1 zone. The young team full of gaurds did a great job against Hume Fogg Big men, being very physcial down low. Hume fogg was down 48 to 46 with 1:35 remaining in the fourth until Troy Bosman came in with a clutch three to give East lit the win and evenutal there first district win. Next Week Pearl-Cohn travels to East Lit on Decemeber 21 should be intresting to see how East Lit will guard a more physical Pearl-Cohn team, and with the return of Deunte Mason for Pearl-Cohn from the all star game it gives the Firebirds more weapons on the post. Should be a big boost for whoever whens this game going into there christmas tournments both teams will be at .500 and be 2-1 in the district
  9. congrats to Deaunte Gra-Mar Mason on MR. FOOTBALL AWARD!
  10. STANDINGS GOING INTO DECEMBER: CPA- 5-0 beating opposing teams by an average of 16 points FRA- 4-2 Can they win that big game? Hume Fogg- 3-0 good start but the teams they have played is has a combined 5-9 record so far should be tested tomorrow East Lit- 2-2 looking to be consient David Lipscomb- 2-3 off to a slow start but Caleb Clayton averaging just over 24 points per game Pearl-Cohn 0-0 starts the season this week with three tough games(region game at M.L.K. this friday) M.L.K. 0-2 two losses by a combined three points, tough oppening schedule(the way doc shelton likes it) Ezell Harding 0-4 looking for that first win is tough
  11. We gonna find alot about Pearl-Cohn Basketball this week they have three games this week at Stratford on Tuesday the next day Hunters lane goes to PC. and to wrap it up on friday at M.L.KING(rival) Old Pearl vs New Pearl. should win the first two fairly easy. MLK will always bring it. The down side for Pearl-Cohn is that the football team just came off a 44to16 loss in the semifinals 4 of 5 starters are on the football team and because alot of them are injured, so now all the pressure is on for Joesph Sandifer and his right now young teammates to step up. until the whole team comes back.
  12. a man you need to shutup because now disrecsptin our culture, you jus stay behind your user name! Because i know you wouldnt disrespect us face to face. all this trash talking you doing really aint even cool. if you aint got nothing good to say dont say it all and keep your mouth shut
  13. every team in this district has played at least one game this year expect for pearl-cohn. They were schedule to play Hillsboro on November 16 and then their next game was suppose to be held this friday against Hunters lane at Pearl-cohn but that game got held back to next wedensday due to Firebird football game at home on friday. I think them not playing thier first game yet, does more harm than it does help, especially in a loaded district this year
  14. Go maplewood! The firebirds from pearl-cohn is pullling for our cross town rival this week
  15. about that loud band you was talking about! that band who was honered in The tennessean this year, that band that first or came in second last year in almost each tournement they were in. What they do at home when they show up late to the game is not to show off and get everybody attention, but that is a pearl-cohn tradition being doing it since 1996, and everybody thinks we play to much. go to a maplewood vs pearl, or whites creek vs pearl. naw nevermind you guys on coacht will really be complaining then! yall are a trip finding anything to say we getting advantage! I guess that means TSU marching band, is wrong to.
  16. Both teams bought thier A game last night however Pearl-Cohn A game was six points better. I would also like to say S.C. has a great faucilty, personnally i like everything about it, nice scoreboard, nice baseball and softball fields, and the odd way the lights were hanging. For station camp pretty good year dont hang your heads you won region. and today you can see your basketball team in action from what im hearing State Champship is their minds and I think they have the right pieces to do so. With that being said from a Pearl-Cohn fan. you guys had a pretty good year in my book but just came up six points short. Now for Pearl-Cohn it aint over with yet, we gotta go to White House in a way im sorta glad we dont have a home game this year it allows to focus on the task at hand, I wont in attendance of that game, gotta see some family take on family in the Maplewood/Hillsboro battle. I will be rooting for the firebirds
  17. You guys really need to get off PC'S BACK. and for a change show pearl-cohn the respect they deserve! you guys get on here and talk about the "parking lot offense", "1 1/2 player team", "undispline". I mean come on you havent even won a game against pearl-cohn sine the region form three years ago, atleast give them respect. And then you talk about desire that pearl-cohn lacks in! See thats lets me know that none of you posters on coacht has walk the atheltic hall way of Pearl-Cohn. that word DESIRE is all over the walls. and then having to walk past two golden footballs everyday. So dont come on here and say Station Camp has as much desire than Pearl-Cohn. See at Pearl-Cohn they dont hang up Region champ teams, or playoff teams in that gym. They hang up state and champship teams. There is not a banner for last year semifinal team, nor last year basketball sub-state team. What i cant understand is how can a team like PC which has never lost to station camp be the underdogs. You may not like how PC plays, or what they do play which is called a spread offense. But they do win and in the end thats all that matters. You dont have to like them just show them some respect! Instead of getting on here and talking about a team you dont even know! In this region there a total of three state FOOTBALL STATE CHAMPSHIPS, two of them are at Pearl-Cohn the other one is at White House(respectivly).
  18. My sources tell me that both pear-cohn band and football team will be leaving for Chatt town at 10:30 eastern time. The band is expected to battle Howard's band during Howard pep rally, this renewing an old rivarly. South Chatt will be jumping all da way to game time. The football team will not be in attendance at the pep rally, but they will be in Chatt town long before school lets out down in chatt. this should give them enough time to rest and get those "bus jitters" off their shoulders, This is gonna be a great game
  19. Yeah i seen that play, seen that game also. but the funny thing is that he was called for pass infernce on that play, and was called back. Another thing number 5 Rashad Mason and number 17 Brian Gupton were the big time threats at the wide recievers last year. both at UNC. Oh that means Pearl-Cohn Duante has nobody to throw it to.WRONG! Number 81 Will "twin" Johnson, number 82 Wayne "weezy" Cox, and Mike "Crazy hops" Venoy. Simply put it this offense isnt "a throw it up and go get it offense". This Deuante Mason's Offense. So dont let that little clip fool you. Last year polk co. was the best 4th seed in the state. Plus Pearl-Cohn plays at thier best when thier great marching band is playing. Like big country said beating Mason's offense is no easy task!
  20. Idk what all the gb/mc posters is about. But i will tell you the phrase "DONT PLAY WIT IT" is saying from the great Firebird himself, and the P.A. for all home games football and basketball. Mr. Orlando "CATFISH" came up with the phrase. He and along with the great maching band of Pearl-Cohn, was voted on the top ten at number 4. On the TOP TEN BEST FOOTBALL ATOMSHPERE in the mid-state. He also known for saying other greats phrases like "DEFENSE DO YOU WANT IT", plus their plans to name the press box after him. Now not alot region teams can say our home games is dunk simply because we are an urban school located in the heart of Jefferson st. and TSU, The games that attract our attention is when we play teams like Maplewood, Whites Creek, Stratford, and Hillsboro(all great marching bands). The games are overflowing turning poeple back at middle of the 3rd quarter. Now i will say this region can bring a whole county down with them at their away games. But pearl-cohn is not a typcial region 4-3a team. with that being said i do think alot PC fans will be in Chatt town this friday because of the excitment both schools bring to the table. No prediction for me because ive never seen Howard play, Pearl-Cohn plenty of times. But like my man Catfish always says "DONT PLAY WITH IT P.C.H.!
  21. I hate to wish this on Maplewood but this game is on my upset alert. Kenwood shocks the maplewood nation. 16 to 12
  22. special teams will be key in this game. But i like HL to advance in a close game 12 to 7
  23. The game no one is been talking about, possible the game of the week in between region 3 and 4. Pearl-Cohn coming off one the best games of the year beating once then undefeated station Camp 20 to 3 at pc. Pearl-Cohn is carrying alot of moteutem down to chatt town this week. Howard on the other hand just one point away from bieng region champs lost in a heart beraker 21 to 20 to MC. And how could i forget the great maching bands that the two schools have, should be a great halftime show. With that being said making my first trip down to howard. This game should easily be packed house on both sides. this will be a great atsomphere. Two atheletic teams going head to head. No predictions for me in this game. but i will say first team to 20 wins.
  24. I think pearl-cohn will be the team give the heavly favortie CPA a run for there money this year. Coach Vic Wharton expects to run up and down the court more and a fast pace game with this year team, than any other pearl-cohn team he has had. I talk to him and said his goal was to "fill the gym up like their football team does every friday", of course that means winning. They have talented players other than mason and carter. Starting with the shortest guy on the team, Joesph Sandifer who is 5'7 point gaurd. A jr. last year that a big impact in that sub-state run last year. and Coach Wharton has name him captin of the team this year. Next Senoir Foward Muzzon Hendorson. Who last year got playing time but didn make much of an impact. But this year the senoir looks to be a big contributer to the firebird team this year, not to mention a Mcgavock sophmore transfer who last year average 18 points per game as a freshman, and has a good shooters touch(something pc can really use) should be back in january in time for district play. and the list goes on: "Crazy hops" Mike Venoy,"Chris lofton shooter" Jarvis Roberts and "MR. UK" Deuante "Gra-Mar" Mason. The point gaurd joesph sandifer said, "every year pearl-cohn football and basketball are the most underated teams in the district and region. I JUST LOVE IT WHEN WE PROVED EVERYBODY WRONG". The big question will be answered when the firebirds open their season at home friday November 16 against Hillsboro. The two rival schools more known for football programs. (shedule to change pending on football playoffs)
  25. Thats not how it works out last year station camp had the better record but pearl-cohn ending up crushing station camp undefated season and white house beat pearl-cohn, and greenbrier. Station camp beat White house but lost to pearl-cohn-and it led to Pearl-Cohn being Region champs at 7-3 mark. each team last year had one lost thats just how it goes
