  1. Coaches, We are back again after an abortive beginning to our tournament last year after being rained out twice! For those of you who expressed interest and received info last year, we have a few minor changes to the tournament structure and organization. We have ordered better weather for this year! Also, we are attempting to get a "big name" figure to present the "All Academic Team" awards this year, but as of this date, arrangements are incomplete. If you think you are interested in participating (no, this tournament in no way impacts your varsity game limit per season according to Bernard Childress at TSSAA) please contact me as soon as possible so I can get more complete information to you. I can be reached best via email at: strangel@loudoncounty.org or you may call my cell phone at (865) 257- 5170. I can take calls best either before 8:00 AM or after 1:45 PM Monday-Friday or anytime on the weekends. Thanks Coach Strange Loudon Lady Redskins
  2. Here are results of Tuesday night's games: Stone Memorial defeated CAK 7-1 (I believe...I might be off on the total runs for Stone Memorial) Kingston got the better of Loudon 5 to 4 in a very hard fought, back and forth game. (darn it) Wednesday games are: 5:00 PM Loudon versus CAK (loser's bracket) 7:00 PM Stone Memorial versus Kingston Report again tomorrow....
  3. Here are the results from Monday's games: Scott County beat Catholic 15-14 in the single elimination "Play-In" game. CAK beat Anderson County 10-7 in the first of the double elimination rounds. Finally, Kingston beat Scott County 12-2, also in double elimination play. Tonight's games are: 5:00 PM - Stone Memorial versus CAK and 7:00 PM - Loudon versus Kingston Updates tomorrow, I hope!
  4. Right you are...on both counts...I edited the bracket to get the game times corrected. Thanks for the tip. You ever know a coach that didn't think his team had a good chance to win? /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  5. You would think there would be, but if there is I don't know about it. It seems that T$$AA should host a Master List site so hosting teams could set up their schedules/brackets. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  6. The District 4AA tournament is being held at Anderson County's field this year. The game schedule for Monday and Tuesday are as follow: Monday 5/5/08 3:00 PM Knox Catholic (2-10) vs Scott County (1-11) Play in game/single elimination 5:00 PM Anderson County (?-?) vs CAK (?-?) 7:00 PM Kingston (8-4) vs winner of 3:00 Play in game. Tuesday 5/6/08 5:00 PM Stone Memorial (11-1) vs winner Anderson County vs CAK (Monday 5:00PM) 7:00 PM Loudon (9-3) vs winner Kingston vs CAK/Scott (Monday 7:00PM) I'll update the schedule afte the Tuesday results are known. So who are you picking to win it all in 4AA? Me, I like Loudon's chances. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  7. Thanks...probably good advice...but it was a "broad" comment not directed at any one player. Thanks for the advice though.../smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  8. lol...You found me did ya? I tell ya...Hoopsville has gotten to be so much like Volchat I hardly post any more...but I'll be glad to update you guys on our team and season. I am very pleased with my team, after I weeded out the "problem children" and got down to the ball players. We have a hole or two to fill...but as they say "Rome was not built in a day." It will take a cuople of more years to get our program back where it should be...but...so far...so good! How's things with you? You got your girl hitting the ball all over the lot yet? /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Larry
  9. Having played both, and beaten one a lost to the other, Kingston & Midway respectively, I can tell you they are both well coached, quality teams. Neither team has a dominating pitcher, but both are pretty decent. We beat Kingston 4-2 at Kingston on an afternoon that we hit the ball well but right at their defense. At Midway we were leading in the seventh and had a two run error by our shortstop, which is totally out of character for her, and gave them the win 3-2. At the end of the day they won, fair and square. I'd love to make up our rain out with Midway but scheduling conflicts make it impossible for them to come to our place this year....sad really. We'll see them next year, I hope. Good teams both of them, I bet it was a heck of a game! Coach Strange Loudon Lady Redskins
  10. I have three girls on my team that are worthy of mention. First is Laycee Small my Junior right fielder that has a cannon for an arm and is currently hitting .617 with 4 homers and 16 RBIs. Next is Tara Crass my Junior SS/Pitcher who is 5-2 in the circle and is hitting .485 with 5 home runs and 21 RBIs. Finally, my Junior catcher Stephanie Navarro, her htting is off right now (.324) but she is, in my opinion, the best defensive catcher in District 4AA. Just to keep the ball rolling... /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  11. Thanks coach...the ability for registered members to add/edit games is a great help. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Coach Strange
  12. As far as I know, only two rounds (pool play) of the tournament were played on Friday...and the later rounds under VERY poor conditions. We won both of our games....against Sequoia and Bledsoe County but the remainder of the tournament, regretably, was rained out and will NOT be rescheduled.
  13. Having had a good scrimmage with Coalfield a week ago...I am NOT surprised. Coalfield is a very well coached and skilled team. They'll make some noise this year unless I miss my guess badly. Coach Strange Loudon Redskins
  14. We have had two failures of the 33" 2008 RocketTech...I won't buy any more of them. My 2007s are holding up fine and my girls LOVE them. Coach Strange
  15. Update on tournament status: At present we have eight teams committed to participate in the tournament with two more expressing strong interest. The teams coming to play include; Gibbs, Karns, Union County, Oliver Springs, Meigs County, Lenoir City, Knox South-Doyle, and of course Loudon. I am still contacting coaches to invite more teams so I feel good about having 12 teams when all is said and done. If you would like to play, contact me ASAP and I??™ll get registration materials to you. Thanks to everyone for all the favorable responses and support Coach Strange
  16. There appears to be good news on the TSSAA issue of the tournament games possibly counting against the Varsity total. A coach that is coming to our tournament advised that this issue had been previously resolved and there is not a problem if some simple rules are followed. I still plan to confirm my understanding with TSSAA on Tuesday, but for now, things look okay. Meanwhile, 8 teams have expressed interest and the list continues to grow steadily. I feel confident we'll have at least 12 teams and perhaps 16. Thanks to all who have responded to the ideas we have presented. Coach Strange
  17. Well, I've emailed Bernard at TSSAA for the definative answer...I sure hope they won't...it would certainly put a damper on all JV tournaments...which I'm not sure is a benefit to anyone. Guess we'll see.... Thanks for the input...the input....the input....the input.../wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> Coach Strange
  18. Delete it...oh my goodness no! It's far to amusing and revealing of.....you.
  19. Thanks...I may do that if I don't get any responses here....

    Open dates

I have an open date on March 10th, opening day, and I need an opponent for an "in school" game at 1:30 on April 11th. I'll gladly recriprocate if we can find good dates. email me at strangel@loundoncounty.org if interested. Thanks Coach Strange
  21. Although no teams have signed up yet, (mostly 'cause I haven't gotten the registration packets out) we are getting interest from several area teams. Karns High, Union County and Meigs County are all making plans to participate. By the way, I have added a feature to our tournament which I think may be unique. In addition to the usual "All Tournament Team" selections, we are planning a recognition and award ceremony for an "Academic All Tournament Team" (3.0 GPA or better) and "Academic Honorable Mention Players" (2.5 to 2.99 GPA) Sorry, but he English teacher in me just can't resist plugging the importance of education to our girls! Interested? Let me hear from you soon. Coach Strange
  22. Our Junior Varsity girls in this area work hard all year and they deserve a reward and a chance to experience real tournament play. Soooooo??¦.. On the weekend of April 4thn through 6th the Loudon High Lady Redskins will be hosting the first annual ???Big Valley Bash??? for Junior Varsity teams from up, down, and all around the Tennessee River Valley. The tournament will be held at Loudon City Park (a very nice 4 field complex) located on Highway 72 just off Interstate 75 between Knoxville and Chattanooga. The tournament will be a three game pool play followed by a single elimination tournament. Entry fee is $150.00 per team. The Lady Redskins will furnish all game balls and two TSSA certified umpires for each game. We hope to have a minimum of 12 teams but will happily expand to as many as 24 teams if the demand is there. All games will be 5 innings or one hour and twenty minutes. Appropriate ???mercy??? rules will be observed. Full concessions are available along with areas for picnics (it??™s in our city park) and other activities for children (volleyball courts and nature trails). If you are interested and would like to receive information and a registration form, please email me at strangel@loudoncounty.org or call me at 865-257-5170. If I am in class leave a voice mail with your email address and I will get back to you ASAP.
  23. I also have the extended (tall) legs and a baseball sleeve for this machine so it will throw baseballs as well. Double duty for a Juinor High? Coach S
  24. I have an older model JUGS MVP softball pitching maching for sale. Runs fine and in good condition. Maximum speed of 50-52 mph with good accuracy. $500.00, no warranty. A new machine like this one cost around $925.00 plus tax and freight. A good machine for a Junior High or perhaps youth league. Email Coach Strange at Loudon High School or if in/near the area you can come see the machine. My email is strangel@loudoncounty.org Thanks Coach Strange
