  1. Just back home in G-ville after the game. It was worth driving to S.PItt again to see this one. I knew it would be special, and it was. I was afraid it was going to get out of hand going into the half, and then that fumble came. I consider that a 14 point swing. Probably would've been 28-7 at half otherwise. As it was, it made the 2nd half a lot more enjoyable. There were a few times when I though Hampton was going to bring a miracle. I was surprised they didn't try an onside kick after the last score. But, it may not have mattered. S. Pitt was phenomenal again on offense. Good job to both teams. Best of luck to S. PItt next week - get you a gold ball! Hampton - be proud. What a season! /motorbike.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":motorbike:" border="0" alt="motorbike.gif" />
  2. Sorry to hear you got the "crud." I had it a couple a days this last week. Think it might've had something to do with sitting out in that cold on Friday night. But I'm looking forward to another round. MO$$$$ and I will have to enjoy it without you. See you down the road.
  3. Always room for one more! Glad to have you along. Justin came by class with Philip today and said you were looking for a ride. Gonna try to leave out from school around 3:30 if you just want to meet us there. I think this should be a good game. Philip is excited about seeing it, and I think he's going to bring Justin Huddleston, but not sure.
  4. Sims is sure enough a hard hitter & it's been great watching him these last few years. I know, I've seen every game, cause my son is on the team with him. Justin is just as tough in practice too - at least that's what #31 tells me. By the way, Philip & I are planning to make the trip to SP again this week. He's got one more year with the Tigers, and is already looking for a chance to rematch with the Pirates next year. Sorry, Hampton fans, but I have to think that the Pirate ship will sail away with this one. But I wish you the best of luck. And Zonepirate, thanks for the tip last week. I did eat at Stevarino's and it was really good. I'd like to see a close game, but my heart tells me it ain't gonna be so. Best wishes to both programs. Hats off to you. Awesome seasons, and it's a shame one of you will have to go home. /motorbike.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":motorbike:" border="0" alt="motorbike.gif" />
  5. I think somebody once said, "It's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game." I think RBS has great heart. They may have a big losing streak, but they don't quit. We play them every year, and even though we've beaten them soundly, it's always an enjoyable game, and the folks at RBS are very friendly. Hey, if I my kids went to RBS I would want them to play football. They'd get to start for sure! As it is, my younger son plays - and starts at Gordonsville. I hope the RBS program hangs in there and improves. This is a tough region, and RBS plays with heart. I bet if they were in a couple of other regions in this state, they'd be 4-6 or 5-5. Seriously. /motorbike.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":motorbike:" border="0" alt="motorbike.gif" />
  6. Just back fromt he Beene - proud of the tough way you played, Tigers. Congrats to S.Pitt -very strong team, should be hard to beat. Got the old heart charging when we got that turnover on the opening kick then marched down and scored first. Wow! After that, S.Pitt offense showed why they are undefeated. I gotta hand it to G-ville D, though. You hung in there and made them earn every yard. There were a few very key turnovers that we made - two interceptions in the endzone when we were threatening - that was huge. What it... Also, from where I was sitting it sure looked like the refs missed an OBVIOUS interference call when Gullet #25 went long. I wasn't close enough to see any punches on the personal foul, but I imagine emotions were running high. One word to S. Pitt's next opponent. Be ready - have your defense work overtime to keep those speedsters in check. And if you got some good passing - bring it. That seemed to be the one serious chink in the S.Pitt defense. good luck both teams in the next game. /motorbike.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":motorbike:" border="0" alt="motorbike.gif" />
  7. Hmmm...interesting. Seems to me if the Pirates were manure on defense, some pretty good teams would've scored more than they did on them. Believe me - FCS is a very talented team, and for S. Pitt to dismantle their offense the way they did, makes me think that manure is a good thing. And Pee Wee team mentality has been working pretty good. I'm not about to let down my guard so easy. The G-men got a big task ahead of them - they know it. But I think they will be ready. They're not going to take S.Pitt for granted and neither should S. Pitt. These are two really good teams, and it should be a dogfight. Go Tigers! /motorbike.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":motorbike:" border="0" alt="motorbike.gif" />
  8. I think it qualifies him to be a legend...and don't forget we've got Mark Medley coaching too - another living legend - who has coached the state champions! And them other fellers - Mac Petty, Sean Fry, Scott Clemmons, Coach Bush...I think their pretty awesome too.
  9. Well, the fact is, S.Pitt is 12-0 and they are ranked #1. If I was a S.Pitt fan I'd certainly be thinking this was our year. No doubt they have earned and deserve respect. (What they have not yet earned - nor yet deserve is the coveted trophy. Last I checked, they don't give it out to a team because they have a good ranking or a good record. The games have to be played and won.) That being said, our boys here at Gordonsville have worked hard and made themselves progressively better all year. They scrapped their way to the top of a tough region, by-passing last year's runners-up and the champions from the year before. Many of our Tiger's wins were nail-biters (the kind I like - but my heart don't.) I've watched every play of every game - scrimmages included, and I honestly like our chances. I'm not going to predict a blowout like last year - though it would sure be nice. The Tigers have played two super playoff games and treated us dads and fans to a season to remember. I'm looking forward to an all out effort. We've got some terrific players and super coaches - and fans next to none. It will be a great atmostphere - I know a lot of home fans will turn out, but there will be a packed house on the visitor side too. Legend, the game will be more than interesting - it will be riveting. Everybody have a great Thanksgiving and S. Pitt. lookout - here we come and we're hungry for a W. /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />
  10. I picked 'em too, Croz. (Not much love from many other CoachTers out there for sure) I also stopped in and saw a little of the boys practicing. If they're scared or backing down, you sure couldn't tell it. See you at the fights. Go Tigers!!! /motorbike.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":motorbike:" border="0" alt="motorbike.gif" />
  11. I'm sure G-ville will be glad to receive all the well wishes given, regardless of who has tapes of who. Let's go Tigers - remember the admonition "I can do all things..." That's you. And "pride goeth before the fall..." that looks like S. Pitt.
  12. Gotta play the game first...I'm sure to all you S Pitt fans, that's just a formality though. Confidence is great, overconfidence is dangerous. "Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall." - 1Cor.10:12 /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  13. Thought I might get your dander up. Basketball? Who gives a care? Not me, that's for sure. And stats aren't moronic - they be facts. Who said anything about recruiting? Not me. But, I would point out that the F and C are supposed to stand for Friendship and Christian - neither of which do I see coming from your posts. Didn't Jesus say that "He was DTruth....DWay and DLife?" /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> And don't bother looking for my posts after the S.Pitt game this Friday. If (heaven forbid) we were to get knocked around as badly as FCS, I would be too ashamed to show up. And yes, I would've supported FCS if they had won and we hadn't.
  14. Everybody is banged up in G'ville. QB broke his throwing hand and both legs he runs on. 1st - 3rd string running backs are doubled over with food poisoning (our cafeterias are the pitts). All receivers are suffering from pulled hamstrings. Our linemen (offense and defense) are suffering from trench foot and jock itch, and the DB's are all hungover after a late night party. Looks like we'll have to play our 7th-8th grade team. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Might as well take the week off and not practice to get ready for us. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> Couldn't resist. Fact is - we did have a bunch this last week who had a bad cold. Penicillin had most everybody ready to go by gametime last Friday. Junior center dressed, but the sophomore started. I think most everybody is in pretty good shape. I know my kid is anyway. Hope the kids from both teams are healthy and ready to give their all this Friday. Good luck to all, but Go Tigers! If you play with heart & grit, all things are possible.
  15. I can agree with some of your logic here. (about having the starters ready when they do face a tougher challenge) And you got that right about Trousdale County - they are one tenacious bunch.
