  2. Well, its gonna be tough to continue the "STREAK" Congrats to the AC coaching staff for all the succcess that they have had and maybe the tournament can be theirs this year, but hopefully with all their youth, they will get things back on track for next year...
  3. Pretty good first night from an unbiased observer. I came looking 4 the best player in the state and I dont think I saw him. Well, that is at least playing or in this state. McAdoo was in the stands and the Y big mans from Oxford, MS. but besides that no one really stood out. Tyrone Caldwell showed why he were ranked highly with demonstrations of how to play hard and agressive. The Team Memphis should walk away with the #1. The rest should be up in the air. I was very impressed with the Warriors and the Stallions. Who are the Warriors and who is on their roster? Not so impressed with the Travellers and Thunder. Post some rosters up here if u dont mind, ive found a few in various posts, but no #s and complete names... Results will be posted Im sure but for FR nights action: the SE Elite beat their second team, Stallions beat the Thunder, Y walked on KAYA, and the Warriors scared the Travellers to death but lost.
  4. It was a nice year Unicoi...enjoy the trip to K-Town because it won't be fun going back home. Too much speed, depth, and tenacity by those roadrunners.
  5. Congrats to District 3 for a clean sweep. Now the teams that havent played each other get to play each other. Alcoa and AE Fulton and Seymour AE looked pretty good and Seymour always gives Fulton fits. That should be a great semis. Also looking ahead for the winners...the state brackets have been posted. The draw is more favorable this year than last where Fulton got champ Giles and Elizabethton got runner-up Ridgeway. This year the Region 2 #1 seed will host a substate and the Region 2 #2 will travel to Region 1 for their substate. The winner of the Region 1 #1 substate will play the winner of region 3 #1 and region 4 #2. And the winner of the Regions 2 hosted substate will play the winner of region 3 #2 and region 4 #1. Region 3 #1 seeds are Howard and McMinn Central. Region 4 #1 seeds are MLK and Upperman which got beat by Lipscomb and now plays Portland probably. So this looks better than last year when Fulton played eventual champ Giles and Elizabethton playing Runner-up and previous defending champ Ridgeway. And dont be down about the Herd or any of the other teams in District 4. There is a reason why District 3 goes to state every year. They are that good and all have very good coaches with experience. The only gripe I have was with how the officials seemed to look for players to show emotion just to give them a Tech. For a showing of emotion to be a tech is bad reffing. Basketball is emotional and a single elimination tourney will be intense. Teenage kids should be allowed to display frustration and excitement and other emotions within the confines of the game. There is not a place for trying to show up an official or cuss or anything like that. But to get a t for smacking the floor or letting off frustration is a bit picky for me in high school ball. I may be wrong on this totally, but to me a ref should make the call and get to the scorers table and make his call and get back in position. Not wait around to see if a kid is going to react. Thats why he/she has 2 other officials- to watch for such activities. Let the kids play and have some enjoyment and excitement in their last game that they put hundreds of hours over at least four years in to getting this far. You ref the GAME.
  6. Here we go again amjabber, you type before you think if thats something you do at all. 47% from the free throw line is not good.
  7. I think Jabbermouth is jaelous and has short...man syndrome. Make you a "congrats to you" post if you must and grow...up.
  8. This is the downside of having open school policy. Good idea, bad execution. I dont have facts per se, but the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Memphis has had an unfair advantage over the rest of the state for sometime. This isnt a Memphis only problem however. The TSSAA is a lot like the NCAA, hear no evil see no evil.
  9. Or are you amazed at how Clinton just cant beat AC consistently like they used to before Eldridge? If AAA and AA is overated, why do we have divisions? Its not like we are talking about AE or something. Lets just go back to open play? Line up AC and line up Clinton pick your starting 5 and see who you pick. 2 legit sr D-1 players and another that could sign somewhere against possible D-3 or NAIA school players? Come on now...that is called underdog- Shouldn't win, not couldn't win. Most educated and uneducated people know that. Out of that tough AAA non-conference schedule, how many wins do they have? 2-WB without 2 starters in the HOF game that doesnt really count anyways and a last place Central team after losing their starting post player. But I guess you're right in a sense...polar opposites in styles-class and not a whole lot.
  10. The game is supposed to be this Tuesday. Mitchell wanted to play it as soon as possible so the football players wouldnt have anytime to practice or play. Fulton has always given them a week or so- 2 days? Sounds like Mitchells scared a bit?
  11. In the Mix- Im glad you brought up some subjects that many are talking about but I had yet to see get put on the board. I agree in most things you were discussing. I dont think race by our definition is the issue because everyone in clinton knows that minorities get most of the chances to play. The issue is why isnt there any help to these extra special athletes to get them into school and succeed. Mostly, its not one thing, but the biggest factor is the kids fault themselves. The kids mentioned that had all made college teams or are playing from Clinton- all have a strong father and family figures and the kids themsleves are great kids. The kids you mentioned that havent made it from clinton were not as fortunate to have great family situations and the kids, while friendly and cordial, were lets just say, not really the college type. While we all wish that great talent could be benefited, not all kids want help or listen to a coach. Once theyve turned 16 its tough to tell them something they dont know already. And McNeeley you are right about some things too, especially that these kids have to have self-discipline. Lets make that a lesson we get out of this...Kids- Dont look to your coach or anyone else to help you make it, you do it on your own. If you get help, then great, but if not, you can still make it and will have no one to blame. I think the coaches can go a long way in helping, but its not necessarily the top priority on most high school coaches list. Basketball is a way in to school that not many people get. Academics is a way everyone can get in if they put in the time and have self-discipline. Now with that said, I do not really like the way lockard coaches his teams either, but thats his personal preferences. If you dont like it, you can trasfer to AC or OR or wherever. But Lockard is guard oriented, fast tempo, look for the 3, press style is what you get. Not many coaches change their styles for the players they have. And PS- Troy Thackerson transfered to Clinton way back when and was ineligible his senior season because he was too old. However, this was not due to grades. It was a physical ailness that kept him out of school one year before teenage and moving from school to school another time other than Clinton that had him behind. Not becuase he was dumb or couldnt do grades. He tried walking on at Roane State to not much avail.
  12. PTP and Player69 need to play before the talk. I guess theres a reason for last night and next time you will kill them and ... shhhh!
  13. PTP10- Clinton beat a young growing Powell team that had them down late. Clinton was glad to get out of there with that one. Powell will not be a top 3 team in the district or shouldnt be anyway. They are a good team but have to get lots better to win consistently. Clinton, however, should be a top 3 team and should beat everyone that isnt as good easily. They didnt do that and probably wont unless things change. Watch and see who wins this Friday and then you can talk some smack. If ORs football players have their jumpers already then it may be a long one for you Dragons. But lets see you beat someone in the top 2 or 3 of a district first. Karns is still learning its system and players. They are going to give teams absolute fits this year. By tourney time they could be the most dangerous. I havent seen what happens to them when the 3 doesnt fall for them, mainly because they are always hitting, but thats the only thing that would lose it for them. Anybody in the district can surprise a team on a given night due to emotions and being high school kids, but beating a better than Powell Maryville team is nothing to laugh at.
  14. Depending on how the OR football players adjust, Id say OR will outscore them but it will be less than 10 or so. Clinton plays ORs style and OR is stronger at it. At least right now, Dye-Whitt-Dixon-Borum-etc will have their days soon enough.
  15. It stinks being right... Boy what a dunk! Maybe a bit unsportsmanlike glaring over him though
