  1. What are the stats on James King and Colton Speed?
  2. Actually the same play Josh got hurt we got called for a block in the back, our back up QB, which was actually one of his best hits of the year. I agree with last night about the fans being in the game. Fans from both sides were good. But you don't know much about football if you think Josh being hurt didn't hurt the offense. You saw 1 quarter and didn't get much of a chance to see all he can do. His first TD was not blown coverage, the corner was covering deep and the WR did a stop route where he makes you think you are going deep. He caught the ball on a perfectly thrown ball from Josh who was sprinting to his left as a right handed thrower and the WR broke a couple tackles and juked his way in the endzone. And don't bring fumbles into it cuz y'all got lucky at the very end when we had the chance to take your fumble and win the game but the ball slipped from his hands. I'm not going to deny that our back up QB did a good job. He did a great job for not getting the playing time during a close game. But Josh coming out hurt the offense in more than just our offensive leader being out...our back up QB is one of our best possession receivers and it also hurt us at our #4 WR. I'm not posting to take away your win and say you didn't earn it. You definitely did and deserve the credit. But if you don't know the ability that Josh has at QB and what he is capable of, don't say he wasn't very good after only seeing him play a quarter. You can go to any message board that is about our school and see other teams/fans talk about how great he is and difficult he is to contain. Even the school that I predict will be back to back state champions this year talked about how good he is. And I'm not saying our fans/players weren't into the game...I've simply stated that the second quarter hurt them as I think they were a little shocked by what happened. They regrouped and played a great 2nd half, just wasn't enough to make up for that second quarter. Y'all did a great job keeping us from scoring again in the fourth and earned your win. Congrats and good luck next week!
  3. First off congrats! Your coaches do a great job and called a great game. I do still think Grace is a stronger team. They got emotional in that second quarter and allowed y'all to get ahead before half. I think Grace regrouped and was stronger third quarter and most of fourth. But it goes 12 min. into all quarters and y'all came through with the win and deserve the credit. There may only be one team left in Region 3, but you are no where close to their talent. 44 is a great athlete, but no where near the athlete of many of SP. But I don't even think you are strong enough to get past Trousdale. Like I said, Grace was dealt a hand that the team wasn't ready for and that second quarter hurt them. But I am proud at the way they regrouped and fought their butts off and almost won that ballgame. Remember, Grace was just a fumble recovery away from winning that ball game. They needed the fumble, you gave us a fumble, and our line backer had a chance of recovery with no one between him and the end zone, just slipped from his hands. But no excuses, y'all deserved the win and I congratulate you for it. But don't think your region is stronger yet...the number 1 team in the state has yet to lose and I have seen nothing from y'all or the little bit of Trousdale I've seen that can stop them.
  4. The only reason he isn't getting the looks you would expect is his size. He isn't the 6 foot + that schools want. He is getting looks though. He has many smaller D1 schools looking but I don't think any offers yet...at least not that I've heard. If he was 6'3" he would be getting all kinds of looks from big name schools. Any QB that runs a 4.4 and throws as hard and accurate as he does will be playing football somewhere.
  5. Stats wise it sounds like you are correct...but his stats are still lower than Josh Blake. Not that Speed isn't a good player, sounds like someone you definitely want on your team, but Josh Blake's stats are higher then what you've posted. Not quite as many rushing yards, but still has just shy of 1000 with 961 with 14 rushing TDs. But his passing stats are way above Speed's with 1560 yds and 27 TDs and 41 total td's. Oh and he only has thrown 2 INTs. But no argument from me about being a nominee, just think Josh is above him.
  6. While I think the fact that he is being looked at by D1 schools may be taken into consideration, statistics are going to be your biggest factor in winning. I've said it before, the fact that y'all are so good and strong in so many areas and have teams beat in the first and second quarter kind of hurt your chances of getting the award. I don't think OP is bashing DJ, at least I hope he isn't. He is a great back and hits those holes extremely fast. But when you campare actual stats, Josh is ahead...not to mention he is also a quarter back and has more stats to add. One of your fans said it best...who cares about Mr. Football. While it is a great award and winners deserve that recognition, its that gold ball in December that means the most...and y'all earned it last year and have a great shot at it again this year. DJ definitely deserves to be on the ballot, but my vote is still for Josh. Best of luck to DJ in what ever school he decides to attend, he will be a good back to watch and I look forward to seeing him on the TV
  7. Fans are fans...you have your great loyal fans, you have your loyal only when things are going well fans, and you have obnoxious fans. There may have been a few obnoxious fans but most I talked to after the game were very friendly and respectful of our team and the game that took place. For the most part, y'all have confident fans I would say...very confident and you have reason to be.
  8. Please understand and realize that the ones arguing about DJ and Josh and Friday night is a couple of your fans and fans of other schools. I don't recall fans from Grace trashing a great player like DJ. I do know some Grace fans are giving arguments to why Josh should be Mr. football, but no one from Grace is trashing DJ. He is a great athelte and stuck it to Grace in the fourth quarter and definitely deserving to be a canidate for Mr. Football. He, along with the many great athletes y'all have will carry your team very far...I hope we are carried far also so we can play again. Best of luck to y'all!
  9. Again, we are a sixth year football program. In time things will improve as they have since the last time you were here. Before the nice stadium you have, y'all were on a soccer field that wasn't the best for games. No other teams complain except you...not saying they thought it was good seating, but no one else complains. You'll survive. I never said Bibbs and Mitchell didn't play well. They did well the first half before Jones came in. Maybe I should have been more clear: the MAJORITY of your rushing yards and scores came in the fourth. I do think Bibbs and Mitchell are really good backs though. Relax a bit MJ, stop worrying about our field and stadium and support your team that is in the playoffs. Don't worry, you won't have to play us in the season anymore from what it sounds like with the re classifications. LOL, oh well, again we can agree to disagree. Good luck this week!
  10. Decided to watch it again and do not see it. That post route was covered the whole time I watched it. Our corner was even on him and Josh came up because of the pass. It was a 1 man route to the middle of our field where we have four guys going to the football. Even our SS broke on the ball. It was great coverage on a one man route and I don't see even a good pass being completed unless 21 makes a great catch which I am sure he can do. Maybe we'll just have to agree to disagree but the fact is y'all won and Grace put up a great battle. The second INT, you referred to another WR over the middle and wrong decision. I'm assuming you mean #21 in the slot on our sideline who during that 3 second drop and pass was still with our strong safety. If you think maybe he would have been open later, your QB had no more time as Rector gave pressure from DE. Again, the film shows that no one was open and our CB came down with the ball. A lot of what ifs are being said on both sides, but it was a good hard fought game and hopefully Grace carries it over next week and weeks after!
  11. Are ya sure you watched the film? I just watched both INTs also. The first one: Single WR with a wing on your side. Wing stays in to block and WR runs a post. The corner followed behind as no one was pressuring his third and Josh was sitting in his middle third and read the bad pass and broke for the INT. I'll agree it was a bad pass, but I just saw two DBs on both sides of your WR. Definitely wasn't open and was good coverage. The second INT: Y'all were in your spread formation, 2 WRs on our side and single on yours with TE (TE just stayed to block). The single split on your side ran a fly and our guy stayed in his deep third. The throw again wasn't perfect but both went up and Caleb came down with it. You can actually see Caleb a few yards ahead of WR while ball was in air. Again WR wasn't open and the coverage was good. When I say blown coverages, I mean our corner got caught back pedaling (never saw him do that at all during the whole season). This is the same guy that got the second INT on the same pass. This might have been a TD depending on how Caleb recovered but I'll say that would have been a TD if it was caught. The second one was agaisnt our other corner. My guess was he was focused on the run and was late getting to his third. Your WR missed at a diving effort but wouldn't have been a TD.
  12. Well, to make it clear I am not blaming it on refs. I don't think you think I am, just wanted to make it clear. The fumble play would have given Grace tons of momentum, but y'all earned your win. There are more calls I can mention, but the game is over and it was a great game to watch.
  13. haha, oh yeah...I hear about them a ton...I said I hope but we need to focus on Water Town first. After that, its gonna be a TOUGH couple of games after. Good luck against Clay.
  14. That is pretty accurate with both players. They are both great athletes and deserve their respect. DJ is a VERY POWERFUL runner...I didn't see 4.5 speed but I'm sure he has been clocked with a laser so if you say so. But even if he was 4.9 speed, he is extremely strong and gets the job done. But both are great and are going to play somewhere and help out their programs. The INT that Caleb Rogers caught wasn't exactly a bad throw, a 5 ft. 8 guy went up for the ball and took it away from the WR who it was thrown to. They both went up for it and Caleb came away with it, WR was not open. I think it was the first INT, the one Josh caught, I would also say that your WR wasn't wide open. You ran routes from the double wing formation with a fake to the full back and Josh was playing the WR in his deep third. Now you are correct it was a bad pass as Josh came forward to intercept it but Josh was also back for the coverage if the pass was thrown better. I already said it was blown coverage when your WR dropped the fly route...I don't know how he got that wide because the two corners for Grace have been excellent deep cover guys the rest of season. My guess is they were so anxious to come and help with run since SP is so dominant. I don't say any of this to put down your QB as I've seen him play before and he most definitely is a good QB and going to be VERY tough to stop next year. Everyone has their off nights, but outside of the two blown coverages, Grace defended the pass well. Just my opinion as you have yours. And no one from Grace, I think anyways from looking at names, is complaining. Even with a couple calls SP still earned that win fair and square. Grace played a hard game and fought hard. Definitely much better than last year and better than everyone else predicted. If Grace plays like they did Fri. night then they will make it passed next week. Hopefully they can make it to face SP again. Good luck SP!
  15. Don't worry Ambassador, most of us know what the stats are and know you ran pretty good on us that fourth quarter. Though there were good runs from SP the whole game, Grace D stepped up and held them to 18 until Jones took over fourth quarter. That is where the bulk of the stats came from. As far as passing, Grace played pretty well in the secondary outside of the blown coverage that the WR dropped. But as was stated in another post, it is a 4 quarter game and y'all won. Might have been a different outcome if the momentum went Grace's way on the fumble we recovered but was ruled down. But congrats to SP for the victory they most certainly earned and good luck in playoffs. As far as tuition, Grace tuition isn't that expensive for a private school and believe it or not, the money goes to more than just athletics...or football. Don't forget you were once there on a soccer field playing back in the day. Thats just how it is. Congrats on the big win and being region champs!
  16. Well, you could have saved yourself the 10+ bucks you spent at the game plus the 20 it probably cost to drive to Chattanooga and back and handed out candy. Grace's football program is only about 6 years old. Y'all have had your program for a long time...longer than the 38 years you've been living. The field they play on is also the baseball/softball field and can't exactly be transformed into a football stadium with raised seating. It cost TONS of money to build a stadium but first you need the property to do so which there is none. Sorry it wasn't to your liking. And y'all are always welcome on our side. As for the game, very fun game to watch. The first 3 quarters were very intense. Jones is very very tough and hard to bring down and for sure showed those skills in the fourth. It was very nice to see Grace be that physical against the number 1 team in the state. Good luck to you Pirates and hopefully we can meet again. Hope all made it back home safely!
  17. There were never any stories on this end about the game being moved. Halloween can be a fun day, but not big enough day to change the date on a football game. For those that are traveling, drive safe and good luck.
  18. So...with that score prediction you are stating that: LV, SD, DB, CB, and Whitwell are all better schools than Grace? Grace beat all the schools and are playing for first or second ahead of all these schools
  19. Ugly...yes. Grace did have 2 big play makers that weren't dressed for that JV game that would have made it better. Would it have changed the outcome? Probably not as their freshmen were pretty large and play unlike other JV teams...they were much more physical, even more so than SP JV team although SP JV team beat our JV team also and didn't look too bad. Also, 2000 students at a school...it's not too difficult to find 20-30+ freshmen that can match up to the 20 JV guys that played. I will agree though that those young guys need to get more physical. BTW aren't you a SD fan 2seam?
  20. Grace also took most offensive starters, including Josh, out for the WHOLE second half. Many 2nd and 3rd stringers got a lot of time on the field...same on D. If you knew anything about the game, you would have seen that Grace controlled the whole first half and dominated. Whitwell only scored once against Grace starting D in the first half and that was a broken play that the QB heaved in the air and WR made a nice/lucky catch in back of endzone. Also, Grace had 2 long TD runs called back.
  21. Plus it's been two years now, Temple made a mistake and they are paying. Y'all are too good to be bashing programs and things that happened in the past. Focus on this season.
  22. Oh none taken at your opinion of the score...no doubt y'all have a tough D, y'all have proven that. I was defending the players, but I have no problem with your opinion of the score. I do hope you are wrong by a long shot though;)
