  1. I bet you are a Wayne County player's parent, am I right? Since when did they ask you to be coach? Because if they haven't offered you a job yet they should asap. A good football season spoils any chance the other sports have to make any noise in the county. Back in my day we didn't even have football, now look at us! Back off the players until you got the title as a coach. Coaching high school basketball isn't the same as NBA 2K5 on the PS1. Let the boys play! WAR EAGLE!!
  2. Please will everyone drop the Tucker/Rice comparison! Not only is it making this whole thread a bunch of useless arguing but also I am sure that both Tucker and Rice are getting annoyed by it, as well as many other readers. Let's talk about the game or Radio's grandpa remark but drop the comparison. And saying "yea Rice is better than Tucker end of story" is NOT dropping it. It gets old, really.
  3. Neither CW or Stown but is there something I am seeing and no one else is? Thompson is 6'7"! of course you are going to be good in 1a ball if you are that tall. Put both of this kids on a 5a or DII team and Wes would be the better player Thompson's biggest opponent this year has been the 6'4" bean pole from Perry Co. Wes has faced small fast defenders, tall gangly kids, and average sized "super"-athletes and still puts up points. The last big man that actually was as good in 1a as he would have been in any other class was Haston from the late '90s and they won the state championship by 40. I guess not everyone saw the play I saw in the championship game where a kid took a wide open lay-up (and made it) and Thompson got mad because he didn't get the ball, a little selfish in my book. . . 1.) Long 2.) Thompson 3.) Harville *Rice - No one likes him.
  4. I believe the final score ended up being 85-54 in PC's favor. PC is an exciting team to watch this year, I am anxious to see how far they go this year..
  5. This is without a doubt not a rivalry. The ol' Perry County Boys just ain't the same. They will be lucky to squeak past Hampton's Clifton squad. With a very weak post play and play and players like #23 that come in to relieve the guards and air ball shots. They are cocky, they all look to get their own shot, and they are highly overrated. As much tradition as Perry County has had in the past I personally don't think this program will last very much longer. Even tho the football team is on the rise and getting stronger, the basketball team is getting weaker. The good ol' days of the Rhodes, Haston, and Ellison are slowly disappearing. The freshman class is a bunch of ball hogs, I don't even think they have any sophmores and their juniors are a bunch of rebellious thugs that do what they want and the loss Joho or however you say his name really crushed any chance the program had of succeeding. PC finishes 8th in the district this year, mark my words.
  6. I have heard that Perry County has gotten a new coach? How are the girls looking so far cause i know they lost 5 seniors? Anyone seen them play?
  7. Maybe so but i am just saying that Perry Co. is not the same team as last year starting the season beating a few good teams. Union City is an outstanding ball club they probably hit 20 threes against Perry Co. and there was nothing they could do about it. I also talked to their coach he says there is not a day he drives by the gym when all 15 players aren't in the gym playing pick up or lifting weights to get better. They are a dedicated team with all 15 players playong nothing but basketball 365, while other teams with some big time players contributing to other sports such as football or baseball.
  8. I would like to mention that Perry Co. really surprised me in this camp. I only saw 4 of the games they play going 3-1, beating teams like Gibson Co.(+23), Carlise Co., Kentucky(+7), and Dresden(+5). The two games they lost were to Obion Co.(-3 very close), and Union City(-a lot). But whatever District they are in should be in for a surprise this year and the years to come. I talked to their coach and he said they were very young. And one more discussion i would like to bring up is the 3 point shooter, he is amazing he prolly hit 15 3's against Obion Co. with a guy in his face!
  9. Linden has 3 guards all of which can shoot 3s and two of the are great off the dribble and can post also..
  10. Perry County wins on OT against Mt. Pleasent with one player scoring 32 and another about 24...any comments on the game?
  11. Yea Cannon Rhodes can shoot the 3 ball very well but don't forget the dill and tucker boys who are both pretty accurate shooters from outside!
