Liberty defeated Craigmont 62-46 tonight and controlled the entire game. Liberty led 31-12 at the half holding Craigmont to 2 second quarter points. Tarius Johnson led the 1st half charge by scoring 17 first half points and controlling the boards and the inside game. This was the best Liberty has looked all year as far as executing and capitalizing on Craigmont's mistakes. The Liberty/RE matchup is gonna be a good one Thursday night.
I had the chance to watch JCM play against North Side tuesday night. JCM has a good basketball team and will surprise many people. They are led by athletic guard Kaneal Windom, he gets to the basket with ease and can take over a game single handedly. The spark plug for this team is point man Jeremy Fuller, he uses his quickness and surprising athletic ability to score or drop a dime to one of his teammates. They now stand at 6-0 but will be tested when they host Liberty on Tuesday. If you are looking to watch a good basketball game don't miss this one. It pits two undefeated teams against each other with bragging rights and being the front runner in district 13 AAA on the line.
Prather had 41 and the score is correct. Prather played a great game and North Side was able to keep it close while Johnson and Ricky Williams were sidelined pretty much the whole first half due to foul trouble. Kendall Anthony played a great game for Liberty never coming out the whole time because so many others were in foul trouble.
That's a great way to put it datsfunny. Liberty is once again one of the best teams in the state, they have prved it so far this season. They will only get better with time as the young players get more experience under their belts.
Fact is Liberty is young, but talented. They have got off to an 8-2 start playing a very tough schedule so far. Liberty lost to NCAA a talented prep school by 9 and Ridgeway who is arguably the best team in AAA by 7. The youth and inexperience will work itself out and Liberty will be as good as anyone when tournament time gets here.
Yes they had all of their players and yes Liberty beat them. They also beat Henry Co., Craigmont, Hamilton, and a Briarcrest team without McDonald and Lee. Liberty will be a very competitive team and will be even better come tournament time.
