Actually both teams scored, but as most people know, this wasn't a real game. Like "learningthegame" said, each team only is only allowed 10 plays in which to score. Oak Ridge did score the most points, however, the 1st string on both teams didn't play very long. So there was no real winner. "learningthegame" you have nothing to apologize about. Some people just read the Oak Ridge threads to try to find the negative. Some of our rivals would love to see Oak Ridge stay down........that's the only reason they are are reading this thread. Also, Stanton Stevens still has some buddies on here too, and yes, some are still very bitter.

I'm glad Oak Ridge has got coach Younger back from Henry County coaching the offensive line, we will see a huge improvemnt in that area over last year. We have a new transfer at running back who is playing outstanding. We still have a way to go, but we have a great staff and a great group of young men. The attitude is a huge difference, you can just see it in their eyes. I can't wait till the season starts.

I would like to know how the scrimmage went with Wilson Central too. Anyone with any information?

Working hard in practice has nothing to do with coaching?? You have got to be joking right?? I have been to a few of their practices. I have seen how the coaches are pushing them this year..........it's like a whole new team........do you know why? It's because of the coaching........practice is being ran completely different this year. If a player is not practicing hard......they get their butt chewed out big time ! Everything is being done at twice the speed..............plays are being ran over and over again until they are perfect. You say your only slightly bitter???????????

I agree 100%, and this thread is becoming stupid. The facts are 99.5% of the Oak Ridge fans were ready for Stevens to leave. Now that we have a great new coach, some people are only wanting to start trouble.......period. If someone thinks that Mullins or anyone else at the high school is doing something wrong then go to the high school and tell him to his face or if you don't have the guts to do that, go to the school board......Be a man or just shut up. Coach Blade probably has more integrity than any football coach Oak Ridge has had since Emory Hale. He isn't doing anything wrong and the players aren't doing anything wrong..................period. I know, because one of my friend's has a son who is playing on the team. I have been to the high school after school and I have seen the team workout and I can assure everyone that no violations are are being made. This is just stupid.

No, it isn't against ANY rules for a QB and a couple of wide receivers to pass the football back and forth after school......unless they are in pads. "Incorrect info on a gossip board. Yeah sure, it won't happen again" .........that was hilarious. By the way, I'm not a Mullins fan......or foe. I'm a Wildcat fan.

We will be good, not great, but anything will be a improvement. We have a great coach and we will have a pretty solid team this fall. In a few years from now I think we will be competing for the state again.

What is Tommy Laurendine doing now? Does anyone know what Joe Gaddis's son is doing now? That last I herd is that he went to Alabama after he graduated from Oak Ridge and was on their staff.

Coach, Joe Gaddis. 3) First-year Oakland Coach Thomas McDaniel, the 2008 5-A Champions. (Talk about turning a team around) ! 4). Maryville Coach, George Quarles, the best coach in the state. We probably don't stand a chance of getting him, but go after him anyway ! 5). Hillsboro Coach, Scott Blade. 6). Doug Martin, quarterback of the 1979 & 1980 Wildcat Championship team, and long time successful collage coach. 7). Ooltewah Coach, Benny Monroe. 8). Franklin Coach, Thomas McDaniel. 9). South Pittsburgh Coach, Vic Grider. 10). M.S.U. Coach, Bobby Alston.

You can't fix ignorance, should we ''turn the other cheek'' when coach Stevens ''jokingly'' pulls a knife on a student? What would have happened if another teacher, student or coach played the same joke? Maybe this does have something to with racial prejudice........Because if coach Stevens was white.......he would have been fired a long time ago. This is nothing but poor coaching......period. You also can't blame this on people moving away from Oak Ridge. Oak Ridge High has about 1,506 students and that's plenty. We have a great basketball team, and girls basketball team and one the best track teams in the state. Did anyone watch the Oak Ridge and Farragut game at the end of our season? A team can't use the Shotgun Formation on 95% of the plays without having a running back in the backfield to block for QB and take hand-offs. We were practically telling the coaches at Farragut that we were going to pass the football on almost 95% of our plays. Like I said before, you can't fix ignorance. We used to be one of the best teams in the state...............How long are we going to stand for being the 3rd best team in Anderson Co.? In 2009 it won't be any easier..............we are playing Maryville. Has anyone read the other comments on the Coach T? People from Memphis to Bristol are laughing about our football program.......and the coach who would ''jokingly'' pull a knife on one of his own players. Also we can't forget the fact that he tried to start a fight with a Clinton coach and cussed out some Clinton fans after a ball game last year.........The same incident would have gotten any other coach fired. For the first time in Oak Ridge football history, other teams are scheduling Oak Ridge as a easy ''Home Coming game'' next year. This has nothing to do with racism, one of the best coaches in the NFL right now in my opinion is Tony Dungy with the Colts. There is no denying that this has a lot to do with the coaching..........and it's time for a change. It is disturbing to a great majority of the fans and to our community that the program has declined and is now on the brink of falling into the status of an also-ran program. This program means a great deal to the fans and players -- both those playing now and those who have played in the past. The program now seems to be unorganized, lacking in direction and discipline. Player participation was down during the past spring practice from the normal 70 to 80 players (less the few who were participating in other spring sports) to the 40 to 50 range, and on some days as low as 35. I wonder how many players are being told to hit the weight room right now? The last three years have brought 5-5, 8-3, and 4-6 seasons with no home playoff games. We had lopsided defeats to Farragut (42-7 in 2007), Soddy Daisy (34-14 in 2008), Ooltewah (45-7 in 2008), and Farragut (34-14 in 2008). We lost three straight to Farragut for the first time in history, and had our first loss in 10 years to Clinton. We have great athletes.......Our offensive and defensive line averages over 250 pounds. We have some of the fastest wide receivers and defensive backs in the state. The team looked unprepared to play in our games, and the fundamentals of blocking and tackling were the worst of any Oak Ridge team in history. While teams normally get better by the end of the season, Oak Ridge got worse. This was the second losing season Oak Ridge has had in 60 years. The one thing that the town has always been proud of, and could count on to lift its spirits, was Oak Ridge Football. Now our football program has became a joke across the entire state. It has meant so much to so many, especially to the kids that have participated. The revenue from it allows the school to pay for all the other sports to be prosperous and excel. The decline in the program has show up as a decline in attendance through the turnstiles on Friday nights as it did at the Ooltawah game which was a 45-7 loss. Many people have given their money and worked tirelessly in the past to support this program. Most are now to the point they cannot or will not provide their support to the program in its present condition. I am asking the school administration to make a coaching change. I would also like to ask for others who feel the same way to write the school board and the school administration.

First of all, Hamilton should had waited till the end of the season to fire Fulmer. The way that he fired Fulmer was classless. Now Hamilton has brought in a head coach without ANY college head coaching experience. Let's not forget that Kiffin was 5-12 in his only head coaching job?!?!? It was also a disaster when Hamilton hired the new Baseball coach. About Stevens.......we will complain about Stevens until Oak Ridge gets a new head football coach....Period. If you don't like it........Don't read the thread.

Actually if you go back and read my post, you will clearly see that someone did trash Oak Ridge on this thread and that was why I made my comment. My Christmas wish list: 1). UT would fire Mike Hamilton, and hire Philip Fulmer as their new athletic director. 2). Knoxville News Sentinel would fire John Adams. 3). Oak Ridge High would fire Coach Stevens as football coach, but let him keep his teaching job. 4). Emory Hale or Doug Martin would be hired as the next head football coach at Oak Ridge, and he could bring back the entire coaching staff from 1980. 5). Mike Mullins would put as much time, effort and money in our football program as he has our basketball program.

Are you to drunk to remember this past football season? Or, maybe your just brain dead? Even though Oak Ridge has a bad coach, we still beat Heritage 34-0 AND William Blount 32-31. And you can "book that" LOL
