  1. We do agree on that. His staff is woefully inadequate and you have to ask yourself, how much better are these kids getting under harrington. There's going to be a certain amount of improvement with age regardless, but is he making the guys better players? Do they understand the game more when they leave than when they got there? Every college wants to have great players, but the competition is becoming so stiff that they are able to pick and choose great athletes that are able to understand the game and how it is played.
  2. Keep telling yourself that buddy! Me personally, i like to listen to the "bought and paid for" chants throughout the region.
  3. Well i guess you showed me.Of course you have access to everyones financial records, i mean why wouldn't you. Call me what you will it doesn't change the fact that it goes on and Briarcrest is one of the biggest at buying players. ......... By the way the name calling was nice, as far as the competing goes, didn't Briarcrest finish dead last last year. Harrington is worthless ,so the good news is, it may not matter who you buy as long as that guy is coaching.
  4. The parents of the kids who aren't playing have every right to be upset. They are the ones paying.Sure these other kids may have payed their tuition, but you have to ask yourself ,who behind the scenes is giving them the money to do it. The political pressures you speak of can only exist in an enviroment that is created from players being recruited to play. Briarcrest would easliy finish last in the league more often than not if they weren't consistently recruiting around the city. The team they put on the floor this summer minus their AAU players was pathetic. The bottom line is this, kids are not coming to Briarcrest to play for a coach who in your words " can't coach talent" unless they are receiving outside benefits. Its been this way for a while and is common knowledge throughout the region and the city.
  5. St. Benedict is not totally without talent. I would agree that they are no where near as talented as Briarcrest, but then again they didn't go out and buy all of the players either. They had a down year last year, however the three years prior to that they won over 20 games each year. As for losing to ECS ,it won't stay this the way,but they are the only undefeated team in the league right now. As for Briarcrest losing to St. Benedict for the third time in a row you need to look no further than the coaching. Harrington has just been flat out outcoached by Corzine each time.
  6. Yes it is. He was killed in a car wreck early this morning.
  7. Lausanne has already lost twice to St. Benedict this year and from the looks of it Bishop Byrne is still down. ECS is going to be pretty good when they get one of their guys eligible at the break. MUS is the one to look for out of the west. They have a lot of size and talent. Briarcrest returns greg hardy but lost every one around him and i think he's even out with a broken hand. It'll be interesting as always.
  8. definately out of the west it would have to be briarcrest and cbhs as the favorites. i'm not sure about mus,but i don't think lausanne fits into that bunch this year.
  9. does anyone know why chris mosby didn't play last night for christian brothers? he wasn't in the box score.
  10. they took the press off with 3 togo in the first half. they let the guards give token pressure for 3 or 4 possessions after the first few minutes of the 2nd half. the wilson kid had no field goals in the first half and even when they got the ball up the floor he was having trouble getting it. other than those couple of possessions in the 2nd half, i think it was three in a row. he didn't do a thing. they clamped back down on him. you may be right in saying that i haven't seen all the teams in the region. i have seen a few but not all. however if the coaching staff doesn't make a better effort to try and get him the ball they are going to be in big trouble. there guards are weak and other coaches will exploit that. the bottom line is other than three or four possessions they shut the wilson kid down. st. benedict's strength is not there post play but they did a terrific job of shutting him down when fayette did get the ball up the floor. having a good post player is great, but you better have someone who can get him the ball otherwise he'll just end up catching the ball 25-30 feet from the basket like he has done the last 2 years. we have all seen how far that has gotten them.
  11. fayette academy is absolutely horrible. i've seen them play this year and while the big kid is decent, the guards leave alot to be desired. having them picked at the bottom of the league is completely on target. it would take a special team with no talent and extremely poorly coached to remove the vikings from last place in that region.
  12. they won't hold it at all and you may see them do the exact opposite. if they adjust to their strengths you could see them push the ball alot.
  13. i believe i heard st. benedict will be playing in that with only 2 starters and 4 of the top 8. i don't believe peyton will be playing either.
  14. they won't hold it and they didn't hold it last year. two years ago you're right they did hold it. that was because they didn't have a player that played who was over six foot. i'm not saying that st. benedict is the end all be all of high school basketball. as i stated earlier i think that they, briarcrest, and cbhs return a lot of key guys and would be considered the favorites in the west if everyone remained healthy. while i think they are talented and this could be a big year for them because of experience, they still have to prove themselves in the region.where st. benedict teams traditionally haven't faired well, but this is the best team they will have for a while to come and they could change all that.
  15. I believe they have both. they are lacking a true big man, but have a lot of speed and quickness at the other positions. like i said they played well this summer, particularly the juniors to be, which will be a huge boost to last years team ,even as well as they played. to say they have no talent besides peyton is to be completely blind. remember they have beaten what i'm sure you would cinsider two very talented lausanne teams over the past two seasons. so maybe they have just a little talent.
