  1. Didn`t mean anything by my reply, just didn`t understand your post and no I didn`t make the games that day.
  2. Over the past few years , I`ve come to realize the officiating is not that great but does equal out. They called some silly touch fouls in that particular game on both sides of the ball. The biggest problem i see is that they are not consistant. You call hand checks called as fouls on one end and have no call on charges on the other end, but with that being said, they called several charges on both teams that should have been no calls. DC plays extremely fast and tends to get some bad calls, but thats the way they play. My question is, isn`t it true that if an official graduates from a school, he/she can not call a game in which that school participates?
  3. I don`t know as I have not seen GC play but Janes has improved tremendously since the first of the year. Hasn`t shown any bad attitude. Just wants to win. Nothing wrong with that. As far as putting up CJ`s misses, that tells me he`s clearing the boards pretty well, but don`t be fooled, he works the paint very well. BTW, you said GC`s bigs are tough if they show up, is there some inconsistantsy there? And also, does GC have a deep bench that can run because as usual DC will be running bench players in and out, up and down all night. Should be a good one. DC by 15-20.
  4. GC at DC Thursday night at 6:30. Don`t know if GC will have anybody to play with Janes on the boards. He is a workhorse underneath. DC by 15-20.
  5. AS a Choctaw faithful, I am not outraged, but to say their half-court "D" is bad is simply incorrect. Maybe not the best in the region and not as good as Choctaws past, but definatly not bad. I`ll admit they could make some improvements. To begin with, DC is undefeated. You say they have tougher games ahead and that may be true, but they have faced a couple teams with guards as quick as any playing Ripley (twice) and Union City and DC came out victorious in all three. Try to convince those two teams there guard play is not good. As far as experience goes, I venture to say DC has the most experienced young guys in the region. I`m not saying that makes them better, but experience does speak for itself. If you remember last year McCord had all these guys going in and out sharing time with the starters practically all game all season. There have been games this year they have had 5 freshmen on the floor in all 4 quarters. BTW, the future is again looking bright as Northview is having another great season and I hear Three Oaks has a kid with alot of talent as well. They say this Hubbs kid from Northview is the real deal. For those of you that might know, Northview and Three Oaks are the feeder schools for DC.
  6. I have seen some of the other matchups, Union City, Lake Co., Humboltd; some of the memphis teams and a few others, but the Dyer Co./ Dyersburg matchups are as intense as I`ve ever seen. It doesn`t matter what sport they are competing in, they rival as well as any two teams in the state. I think the fans get more stirred up than the players do and you can ALWAYS count on a standing room only event when these teams hook up.
  7. Perhaps I was a little ticked off last night, but facts are facts and I too stand by my post. I see that some agree with my comment about the second half open drives, but RogerDodger is the only one that half way mentioned special teams. Mainly KICKOFFS. Can anyone of you tell me why you would short kick a kickoff when you just tied the game and shifted all the mo to your team. It makes no sense. That was a bonehead call. It changed the whole outlook of the game for those young men in orange who fought so hard to get back in the game. I`m not taking anything away from the Trojans, I too think the better team won, but with 1:30 left in the half, DC actually had a chance to pull off the upset til the coaching staff took it away. I know 73, StevieRay, or somebody had to feel the kicking game was a big reason for the loss. I`ll lay off the players/coaches comments today, but as I said, facts are facts.
  8. Congrats to the Trojans. They are indeed a good football team, however I do think the Choctaws showed an incredible amount of courage tonight. They are a team full of injuries that played a better team and still made a game of it and perhaps had their early chances to pull off the upset, which brings me to my point. Some may not like what I`m about to say, but I am saying what alot of DC fans won`t. The coaches stink!!!!!!! This was an injured team that wasn`t even supposed to be in the game and Renshaw simply took them out of the game and put all the advantages on the Trojans side. Why in the heck do you call a pooch kick on the opening kickoff and even moreso, with just over a minute left in the half when you just tied the game and have all the mo on your side. The trojans team and fans were down and out but that bonehead call gave them boost they needed and they never looked back. DC comes out in the second half and basically goes to the air attack the first two possessions when the run had killed the D`burg "D" all first half. It wasn`t just tonight`s game, but the saeson in general. I`ve heard numeruos complaints from the players about the coaching staff. There is simply no respect for them (the coaches) as that is something that is earned. There are alot of good kids on the team and alot more coming up from the area middle schools. It would be ashamed to see all that talent go to waste over the next 3 or 4 years. It`s time for a change. ( sounds like a political ad)
  9. You are exactly right on with your post. I was at every one of those games mentioned. You were especially on target about the coach that you know pretty well. I have seen Ab Davis grab more facemasks of his players than an inspector at a football helmet factory, with parents in the stands watching. Parents back then were more apt to get onto their own kids than Coach Davis. Every school that has a good run thinks of their coach as great, and there have been many good ones in this area, but I will admit that Ab Davis was one of the great ones.
  10. I was unable to make the jambo tonight. Were there any standout plays or players for any of these teams? (mainly D`burg or DC)
  11. My goodness. The ALL MIGHTY ONE is back. They can do no wrong and the Trojans are bringing about 20 seniors this year, most teams would love to be in that situation. I suggest the rest of the region just give it up. Dyersburg has already clinched the state title.
  12. Was everyone satisfied with the selections? I was really surprised with the AA selection. I`m sure Jenkins is a good guy and great player, but I`m a little surprised. I think of a Mr. BB as being the obvious best player on the team, therefore being the team leader. IMO, if you have two teams with finalist in the tourney, I would`ve thought one of those players would`ve won it because they had led their teams there. Yes I`m a DC fan and know how important Blake is to the Choctaws as is "Z" to CPA, but never had the chance to see Jenkins simply because. I thought Mason might slightly edge out Blake, but I`m sure this young man is deserving. MJ was no surprise at all. Congrats to all the winners.
  13. Don`t know what would have happened had DC been playing yesterday. None of the other schools would have had a place to sit. lol, but serious
  14. Sure you can, in fact you should expect it! ok, I`m not harping on the DC/CPA game, it`s over and done with, but if you were at that game, you saw the worst officiating I`ve ever seen, ever. They called bogus charges and blocks on DC all night while CPA was walking with the ball to go along with it, then with 15 seconds left the clock thing happened and thru all that you never saw one player from either team come remotely close to acting like he did. Folks, Ive got news for ya, these are not typical kids at this point, they`re young men who have worked and trained their bodies and minds to do a job. Making excuses for this guy only adds to the prob. Case and point, I met 2 officials from North Carilina and a scout from Ill. and what they had to say proves my point. One of the refs from NC said he would never made it that far because of missed fouls and should have been "T`d" up for his actions twice after he went out of the game. The scout didn`t say he was there to see Torry, but did say he would never make it. His words were,"big attitude". I didn`t get in til late last night and may have missed an earlier thread on this subject but I want to say that the Mitchell coach earned my respect Fri against Howard by sitting Torry on the bench. IMO, he proved to everyone right there it was all about him. Yes 48 pts. is very impressive, but that was anything but a team effort on his part. I could score 48 pts too if I didn`t play any "D" and just stood at half court waiting for someone to throw me the ball. Good move coach.
  15. Good q`s yankee, but one more thing I`d like to ask along with your 8th q. Do officials get penalized or reprimanded in any way if it is determined he is calling a game unfairly on purpose?
  16. Congrats to UC on their CHAMPIONSHIP. Great comeback. After the heartbreaking DC loss, I kinda adopted UC as a hometown team. (even though diff classes) It was fun to watch. I sat near the Manasses section and kept looking for Legend in his own mind, but anyway, congrats.
  17. PLEASE, you don`t have to apologize for antbody. Maybe cooler heads should have prevailed, but if she did flip someone off and it was in response, then so be it. As for the man making the statements, sounds like something either made up, or heard second hand. I can`t believe for a second that any fan from DC would have said that and, if someone did say that, Fulton fans would have been all over him right then and there. As for the team, I was impressed with their play, class on the floor, during and after the game. Congrats to you on your championship. It is well deserved. DC!!!!!!!!!!!DC!!!!!!!!!!!!!DC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!DC!!!!!!!!!!!!DC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!DC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!DC!!!!!!!!!!!!DC!!!!!!!!!!!DC!!!!!!!!!!!!DC!!!!!!!! Man what a season. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. Even more exciting than last year and I didn`t think that was possible. You are all CHAMPIONS to the DC faithful. You showed class in every thing you`ve done all year on and off the court. Congradulations and good luck to the seniors with your futures. One last note. McCord and his staff are the best and classiest coaches ever. Most of you don`t have a clue how time they put into this program, but look at the young men playing, and you see a reflection of their efforts. I don`t know how many of you saw it, but when McCord was walking off after the loss, he looked up and pointed at the fans and applauded us for our support, but we applaud Coach Clark, Coach Beck, and most of all Coach McCord for their great run. It`s been awesome!!!
  18. UH......... you would be correct. The game should have been over when the CPA officials started taking DC out of the game beginning in the 2nd. Are you guys gonna come cheer for us or what? hehehe!!!!!!!!!
