  1. To address some of these blatantly bogus accusations I would like to begin with the fact that we are in the semifinals of the state football championships. To imply refs would openly cheat for a team is asinine in and of itself. Refs miss calls in every game at every level. I for one think they made some bad calls both ways and I will list a couple that went against Rhea County. On one of West's first three drives there was a big pass interference call that went against Rhea County where the safety timed his hit perfectly and was called for a bogus penalty. That was 3rd down and 15. West scored a touchdown on a quarterback tuck and run on a 3rd and 17, where I counted at least 2 blatant holding infractions. So while you are saying the score should have been 35-0 at the half minimum, I would respectfully like to disagree and say it should have been maximum 14-0. Did I mention that Rhea County lost 3 fumbles in the first half as well. West completely outplayed Rhea County in the first half, but they had some assistance on their way to the 28-0 half time lead. On to the second half and the calls in question. We fumbled a kick off and due to your incompetence in the special teams as you committed a substitution infraction resulting in a re-kick. That is not cheating that is making you follow the rules. The only really strange call was on the interception that West would have eventually returned for a touchdown. The call was the correct call. It should just have not been blown dead. There was a offsetting unsportsmanlike conduct on both teams which meant the down would be replayed. That doesn't seem like cheating to me either. A touchdown thrown to a tackle? Number 85 plays end and also had two touchdowns against Oak Ridge. Finally.. Rhea's last first down was obvious pass interference, and we run the wing-t, so the motion penalty you are looking for is actually a back in motion. Also if you want to complain about losing your best defensive player on the first play of the game go ahead. Rhea lost it's most dominating physical presence on both sides of the ball in Jacob Williams in the first half. He didn't play after half time. Why can't you people just give all the credit to the kids on both sides of the ball, for playing their guts out for a chance to win it all. Refs didn't win or lose this game it was decided by the coaches, and their preparation for this moment. Congratulations West and good luck next week.

  4. Any word from East Hamilton? Who are the names floating around?
  5. Funny...I recall a couple years ago where Stone got hosed in a district championship game and the classless whining was coming from the Panther faithful... What comes around goes around...
  6. So did Rhea just out talent Ooltewah or out coach them?
  7. Congratulations boys on a great win. Way to go. Now go get Ooltewah.
  8. Do you think coaches really care about politics over winning? All coaches play the players who believe deep down are the players that give them the best chance to win. End of story! To believe otherwise is simply assinine. If two players are equal, and I'm the coach, I'm going to play the one who has worked the hardest. Coaches know who has put the time in and deserves to play.
  9. I don't just get on here and post senseless comments that have no backing...I gave you some concrete stats. These guys are developing players. I know in particular that one of the starting wideouts has dropped his 40 time 3 tenths since this time last year, so don't tell me they are not getting developed. They are just really slow to start with. Also I did a little research, rather than just spout off nonsensical comments based strictly on emotion and your dislike for the coaching staff. In 2007, an average year by your standards, did you know that the Eagles were 5-1 against sub .500 teams. Sounds like they were beating who they were supposed to beat. In 2009 - the worst year in forever, they were 2-2 against sub .500 teams. So in those two years of down time Jason Fitzgerald and his staff are 7-3 against the teams you call bad. The year that we had talent and went to the quarterfinals 8/13 teams on the schedule had .500 or better records. Just analyze last years schedule. 6 teams had a .500 record or better. We went .500 against the other 4. We are competing with or beating the teams that have the same athletes as us. PERIOD....These are facts not emotions. Get over it...These coaches can teach football...That's all you need to know...
  10. I think it is comical how parents and former players get on here and state their opinions. It really doesn't matter what you say on a message board. You are not at the practices. You don't know who the best players are. Most of you have no clue what an athlete even looks like especially if you think we have them. Let me ask you a couple of questions. How tall is our tallest wide receiver? How fast is our fastest player? What is the vertical jump of our best athlete? What is the combined squat, bench, and power clean weight of our stongest player? I don't know the answers to all these questions, but I know a few. Tallest wideout is 5'9 and that is stretching it. The fastest guy on the team may run a 4.8 40, and that too is stretching it a bit. The highest vertical on the team might be 25 inches. Combine that with the fact that our best lineman and running back can't even drive yet. These are not eye popping stats athletically for a 6A school or any school for that matter. I can guarantee that these coaches are doing the best job they can with what they have. They take average athletes and compete and win against every other team with the same level talent. Should we have beaten the number 1 and the number 4 ranked teams in the state? Heck no. Just like Tennessee had no business beating Oregon. Did Rhea County compete against or beat the other two teams they have played? Yes. Face it people. Good coaching can only do so much. I'm not trying to put down the kids either. They are doing the best job they are capable of also. It's just a down time. That's reality.
  11. Never said we weren't a football school. I've been here all year. I just hardly ever post. Good Luck Golden Eagles tonight. It would be nice to close the season with a win.
  12. WE know our team, you do not so don't pretend to. Oh, and don't expect much from our basketball season, either. It stinks, too. Rhea County Eagle Fan. You speak about school and community pride in one post and then you come right back and bash a group of the hardest working kids in the school before they have even played a game. Pretty pathetic if you ask me. Good luck Eagle Basketball and Eagle Football. Last I checked we were all Eagles. RIGHT?
  13. "unless csas gets sime big time transfers like mccallie " Don't throw the word transfer out there so loosly....RECRUITS would fit more apropriately.
  14. Cleveland should be the front runner from 5AAA. Bradley, Rhea, Ooltewah and Walker Valley should battle for the other region spots.
  15. They are extremely scrappy and play very physical. You better guard the little guy because he can shoot the three. Their best player is their point guard. He is about 6'0 and plays really strong. He looks to score off a change of direction. They do not handle pressure very well, but will try to get you to speed up so they can create easy scoring opportunities.
  16. Clinton is a very good football team. I wouldn't take them too lightly. Winning the region means absolutely nothing at this point.
  17. Did Cumberland not lose three of their four best players to graduation? Bradley still has Perkins and he is one of the top three or four players in the district. They probably also have brought in some new recruits. Rhea should actually be able to score this year. If you didn't notice they were terrible offensively last season. Rhea's JV only lost 4 games last season and the games they lost were all very close.
  18. I see it finishing out like this. 1 Cleveland 2 Walker Valley 3 Bradley 4 Rhea County 5 Cumberland 6 McMinn County
  19. What a huge win for the Golden Eagles. Guaranteeing at least a share of the Region title. I went to the game and sat in the midst of some of the most ignorant people on the face of the earth. We were up 9-0 and were repeatedly running off tackle behind our University of Tennessee signee Kevin Revis. These idiots kept yelling for us to try a different play. Listen people we were running clock and there was always the chance that Moffit could break another long one like he did to set up the game winning touch down. Before anyone says anything negative consider the following. We won this game without two of our three primary recievers, as AJ really couldn't go and Swafford didn't hardly play after the first quarter. Great game coaches, and I admire the guts trying to punch it in on fourth and goal. That was worth the trip in itself. Now go beat the Blue Raiders and seal the deal.
  20. Don't you guys realize that great players make coaches look good....Coaches don't make bad players look good....Did Coach Cameron just magically become an offensive master mind? No...he was probably already there, its's just now he has players that can execute a scheme. Cameron Tallent was 9-10 for 230+ yards in the first half alone tonight. He is throwing it and his recievers unlike, last year are catching it. We didn't have a quarterback who could throw a lick last year, and when we did put it in the vacinity of a reciever they dropped it more often then not. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see where our success is coming from.
  21. If I'm not mistaken, didn't Powell and Bradley Central play an overtime game at Powell not too long ago. Bradley Central is a much improved team. I would venture to say that Cleveland is better than Powell.
  22. Cumberland County didn't win that game. Rhea County lost it. No excuses, but the Eagles beat themselves.
  23. From the looks of the early scores from Bradley, I would say they might even compete for 2nd with Walker Valley. They have beaten up two teams in HOF games. This should be an interesting year with Cleveland having a huge talent edge over the rest.
  24. In watching the Eagles last night it appeared that Rhea County should be a much improved team from last season. They played with passion and seemed to be having alot of fun on the court. I look forward to seeing how this season will play out. I know that Boyd Buchanaan was not the toughest of oppenents, but you could definately see something different about these boys. Good luck Friday against Harriman and the rest of the season.
