  1. They would have to get farther in the playoffs to make that claim. I don't know if they are the 2nd best team or not, I just know it didn't end up that way. Maybe next year they can find a way to get to the semis at least, then you can claim how great they are. Till then, doesn't wash. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  2. Alcoa was clearly the better team, having said that, doesn't mean any other team would be. Any team that plays Alcoa every year, should play a better game against them than one that does not. Doesn't make them better in other regions, just theirs.
  3. Doesn't work that way. A team that plays Alcoa on a continual basis should play Alcoa better that teams that only face them in the championship series. That's what they are coached for, other teams are coached to win their respective regions. It's all about winning your region. Losing by a slimmer margin against Alcoa does not mean you would win in other regions.
  4. It doesn't work that way. First, let me say that probably no one ever changes their mind based on anything they read on a message board, but I'll still try to answer. There are two main types of private schools that play sports, one division gives need based aid, (Brentwood Academy, MBA etc...) the other can give nothing, (CPA, DCA, GP). In fact, even for the most needy, they are allowed to give nothing, no help whatsoever. Understand what I'm saying, they could give some type of financial aid, but NOT if the kid plays any sports. You find a way to send your kid to this school, or he or she doesn't go, it's that simple. Most parents that I know send their kids to these schools because they want the family type atmosphere and community sense of pride that the Alcoa's, Camdens, and Yorks have. As a parent, I can tell you that that is why kids go to these private schools, and almost always they go there their entire school years, well before anyone knows if they can play ball or not.
  5. I would like to add my two cents worth if I may. I've seen it said several times that CAK or Sweetwater or whoever would win the region with DCA, CPA and Goodpasture. I don't think that would be the case. Teams from all areas got their chance to derail these teams, and the only sucessful one was Alcoa. The teams mentioned (CAK and so forth) are coached specifically to beat Alcoa, right? The other teams are coached to win their region and only face Alcoa in the championship round. I don't believe you can correctly compare the two. I can say from personal experience that DCA did not look like their normal team when they played Alcoa, and that makes a huge difference. When teams face them on a yearly basis, they will be coached to beat Alcoa, when teams only face them in the championship series, they are coached to win their region. Alcoa makes all teams in their region stronger, but don't get carried away, just because they play Alcoa to a closer loss doesn't mean much to the other regions... By the way, DCA would probably be no. 2 this year, due to their victory over Goodpasture. /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />
  6. Legend was created here today. I laughed, I cried, it became a part of me. When AlcoasPaintedBridge thinks AlcoasPaintedBridge needs to go and paint Alcoas Painted Bridge, I believe you have just reached immortality with the Fourth person narrative. I am humbled to have been a part of this. /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />
  7. I hope this game lives up to all the excellent posts, it's getting hard to type with these tears streaming down my face. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> I refuse to quit my job with Hallmark just so BillyBob can have the job!!! Now would someone please start referring to themselves in the third person, Moxen feels this would make this thread perfect /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  8. I don't think your team will be, maybe a few fans, maybe not. No one is saying you haven't seen anything like DCA, but I would think DCA fans have as much right to be proud of their team as you have of yours. After all, haven't they only been in 2A for a year or two, so I believe their fans have every right to be proud. What I meant by the shocked comment was that many are picking a blowout by Alcoa and it may be shocking if that doesn't happen, right? No disrepect intended!!! Alcoa has earned the right to be called Champions, DCA has earned the right to play the Champions. Good luck to both teams.
  9. I believe DCA knows full well the awesome team that Alcoa has and has had for many years. I also believe every player on DCAs team thinks they can win this ball game, same as Alcoas players. That's the way it should be, right? I know that Alcoa needs a good warm up before the Championship game and maybe DCA can provide this. Having watched DCA play several times, I will guarantee one thing, Alcoa will be more shocked than DCA during this game. No matter how good Alcoa plays, even if they win by 50, everyone expects it, so no shock. Ask Goodpasture, ask Tyner, ask York, these are all fine teams, I'll guarantee every one of them thought they would win against DCA. The team from Donelson is dangerous right now, because no one expects them to do anything Friday night. except them. When one team has nothing to lose, funny things tend to happen. When the other team has everything to lose, funny things tend to happen. Good luck to both teams
  10. Please don't let me get in the way of whatever ax you may have to grind, grind away. I will say nothing else about this matter.
  11. I'm all for discussion, if you say the kicking game is suspect, then leave it at that. I just don't think it is right to go farther than that. These kids give it their all, at all positions, shouldn't that be enough? His thoughts can certainly be defended, but prefacing it with "I call them like I see them" does not constitute the right to say just anything. These are High School kids, not professionals, please try and remember that before posting, that's all I'm asking.
  12. Something that hasn't been talked about is the outcome the coaches may have on this game. These are two very well coached teams, and the game plan and adjustments could be crucial. Of course, the players will play the game, but it should be interesting to see the point-counterpoint from the respective coaching staffs. Everybody knows of Alcoa, and Coach Rankin is a legend in this area (Middle Tennessee) but I think DCA has a fantastic staff and if I'm not mistaken, haven't they made the playoffs something like 20 straight years? Could get interesting!!
  13. My thought is Worden55 is crazy, nuts, and a homer. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Having said that, crazier things have happened
  14. There is no excuse for talking down about any high school players, especially if they play for the team you profess to pull for. I can guarantee every kid on the team wants to win, they have all poured their heart and soul into every run, every practice, every game, and to have anyone (most likely a person that has never played a team sport) say anything in a negative manner is simply wrong!!! I don't have a dog in this hunt, but I was taught right from wrong, and it's not enough to say "I just call them like I see them" and then feel like you can say whatever you wish. It's not fair to the kids involved and you are wrong for doing this. No pulling punches, right?
  15. DCA will certainly have to play their best game of the year to have any chance at all. Having said that, they do have some serious offensive weapons and the best balance (passing and rushing) that Alcoa may have seen this year (in 2A of course) I have seen several comments about Alcoa's pass defense and that it may be more vulnerable this year than in years past, however, I think it would take a very balanced team and not a one dimensional effort to have any chance for the upset and that still may not be enough. You think they would agree to only play their starters for one half, regardless of the score? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  16. So, in other words, Alcoa actually has to play a game before they can face the winner of this game, just making sure. By the way, I have noticed the Alcoa fans do not seem to look ahead, that's the quiet confidence of a champion
  17. After hearing a lot about their offense, I was wondering what kind of offense do they run? Are they a passing team, a running team, or do they basically do whatever they want.
  18. I think the real advantage comes from the privates getting to use 1.8 kids to block the publics 1 kid. That's gotta be tough. What, you mean it's not really 1.8 kids, wouldn't that mean smaller schools are playing in a larger school classification. One team wins, one team loses, don't make excuses for either, else be labled a crybaby!! /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> I would like to nominate this for post of the year /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  19. I'm sure you didn't mean that like it sounds, but you might want to let your guys that are seniors finish this year before saying your young uns are better. After all, haven't your seniors THIS YEAR taken your team farther in the 2A playoffs than ever before? You make a great point about the team scoring touchdowns, not an individual, but I'd be willing to bet that mindset is a testament to all your seniors and their leadership. Let them have their time, yours will come soon enough. Good luck to both teams
  20. Sorry I was not more clear. I simply meant your TEAM could beat a small college team. I was referring to your entire team, not just one player.
  21. Does Alcoa have a bye this week? That would be odd this late in the year.
  22. Can someone tell me what this means? Did someone show their privates? That's gotta be hard to do, especially with all those pads on!!! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  23. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> That's good, I think DCA, while maybe a little banged up, should be at full strength also. From what I've seen DCA does have a very good passing game, good receivers that can run and a QB that can get them the ball. Has Alcoa played any teams with a good passing game this year? I won't ask how they did, I think I know the answer. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  24. Possibly even small college talent!!!
