  1. I attended the Parent Meeting Monday night and I have to say the more I hear from Coach Caine the more I like him. While he still has yet to coach a down as a HC he has earned my respect. I joined the QB Club out of HS over 15 years ago and have now been associated with six coaches in Sequatchie history and I have never heard a head coach talk with the passion and desire that he does. Not just for football but in turning these kids into men and preparing them for life after high school.
  2. Spring Practice starts May 4th! Coach Caine can't wait to get started! Still getting a full staff together said probably want be completed till the school year ends. He said if everything falls into place should have an outstanding staff. Currently have around 50-60 players for Spring. Not counting the few still in Baseball/Soccer or the upcoming 9th graders.
  3. He was the Grundy Middle School coach last season! Article: http://www.examiner.com/article/grundy-county-hires-former-jacket-tate-to-take-over-football-program
  4. Met Coach Caine tonight! Just as others have said he is a super nice guy. Great attitude! He can't wait to get things going. Wants to get the community involved. Really wants the players to have pride in wearing the purple & gold and honoring those that wore it before them and representing the community! I hope the kids buy in to what he is saying if they do I think good things are ahead.
  5. Coley works at the Middle School. (I think) He isn't a Volunteer coach.
  6. Stephen Hargis â€@StephenHargis 9m9 minutes ago Sequatchie Co names former Trussville (Ala) DC and McCallie grad Adam Caine as its new head coach. Story coming online at TFP
  7. Young guy former player/SCHS Grad. (2007) Coached three years under Barger. I think he was also the D-Coordinator for the SCMS Braves team when they won the SVC Championship in 2012. (I think?) Coached under McCurry at MCHS in 2013 was at least a part of the time the D-Coordinator last year at SCHS. Most seem to think he had/still has a pretty good coaching career in front of him. However I think he had to much put on him to soon last season. IMO
  8. Its my understanding that there will be some change in assistant coaches who or how many is probably yet to be determined. Remember coaches can only be hired if they have the proper qualifications and or the right teaching positions are available.
  9. Nothing has been announced yet and if Coach Webb is the pick I don't think you would hear many complaints IMO but Coach Webb has coached at Lookout Valley (Chattanooga) for the past 10 or so years and has around a 500. record. LVHS has probably averaged around 20-25 players (if that) on its roster (for as long as I can remember) as its one of the smallest 1A schools in the state. Some (in this thread) have already questioned on if the program will survive without him. Everyone who follows HS ball in this area has wondered what he could do if he had more to work with as everyone will tell you he's a solid coach. He has gotten LVHS to the 2nd rd. of the 1A Playoffs twice in the past 8 years.
  10. See that is why I don't like names being mentioned! Unless things have changed in the last couple of days one name mentioned is correct (I want say which one). Not sure where the other one came from and one is just lol funny! Here is what I have heard (So it could be wrong) in know particular order and NO Names! A Current HC! A Defensive Coordinator A Current Collegiate Assistant Coach
  11. Emmit Gooden Joejaun Williams Daniel Bituli Ryan Johnson Donte Vaughn
  12. There were at least five times this past season in games I went to where officials blew the whistle because they thought the ball carrier was tackled but the fakes were so good the QB still had the ball. It cost the team probably two touchdowns. On one particular play the ref blew the play dead and the ball carrier was actually 30 yards down field on the other side of the field.
  13. I could be wrong but I don't think Montgomery is teaching/coaching anymore? He wasn't with the team this past year and as someone said I think he is now working for the state?
  14. Look back through the thread for some names folks have thrown out there. I'd rather not name who is thought to be the front runner (or others in the running, if I knew) but going by what's been said on here it wasn't hard to find out who it is.
  15. Not for the next couple of years. Teams couldn't workout a date that worked for both schools with the new regions being set up this year. Sequatchie of course made it a priority to keep Bledsoe Co.
  16. Unless things change from what I was told a week or so ago. No interviews etc.. will happen until after the Title games! Was told at the same time around 25+ applications.
  17. So this is it? I like it or the most part. @ South Pittsburg Whitwell @ Smith County R York Institute R Bledsoe County DeKalb County R @ Warren County @ Cannon County R @ Grundy County R Upperman R
  18. Locations? I did hear tonight that the first two were @ South Pitt, then Whitwell (at Home) and we would have an open date on the Friday during fall break (when ever that is?) I have heard that there is now close to 30 folks interested.
  19. I don't have a dog in the hunt but where would you put White County if they did move them out of a majority Eastern Time Zone? Region 5 already will have 8 teams as well as every other Region from 5-8. IMO even with the time zone difference travel for White Co. should be pretty easy going to play Region 4 teams compared to getting to a lot of Region 5 games. Just hop on Highway 111 straight into Chattanooga area from Sparta. That would be a lot easier travel I would think than getting to Columbia, Thompson's Station & Spring Hill!
  20. http://tssaa.org/2015-2016-football-region-alignments/
  21. From what I heard tonight at the basketball game. There is a ton of interest in the position. Probably want get serious with interviews/vetting until after the Playoffs are over. (but that could change)
  22. Can't win games (especially at 3A+ level) now days with a running offense unless you have major talent to do it with. You have to be close to 50/50 run & pass.
  23. I really like it and here is why! #1 - No more privates to contend with and the want too be's as well! #2 - gate money all of us in the valley know from basketball & baseball a couple of those schools in Reg.3 may bring all ten to fifteen fans with them while I would expect that those county schools we have been placed with in Reg. 4 all likely travel really well. #3 - This should allow the rivalry/money games to continue which is something that I was seriously expecting to be in trouble of continuing. Now all those games with Bledsoe, Marion, South Pitt. & Whitwell depending on how the schedules are worked should be able to keep going. Unless York is able to petition to be moved back. I would like for SCHS to finish out the 5 games on the schedule with Bledsoe, Marion, South Pitt. & Whitwell and then try and add a team from Reg.3-4A say one of the following Chattanooga Central, Cumberland Co., East Hamilton, Hixson, Stone Memorial
  24. So what is everyone's thoughts on the new proposed region for Sequatchie Co.?
