  1. Still lives in East Brainerd. Goes to Cleveland. Not sure how.
  2. When and if they get turned in, TSSAA will investigate. You can't live in East Brainerd and play at Cleveland can you? Bona Fide change of address? Has an athletic record at another TSSAA school? TSSAA Handbook, P. 16, Section 12, a. & b. They may win Region tournament easily but wouldn't it be a shame to have to forfeit it if he was reported after they played it?
  3. Can a Non-faculty coach, coach the teams AAU team or Spring Team after the season is over? The non-faculty coach is considered the assistant coach of the school's team.
  4. I know. It hasn't been mentioned except in the write up of the Red Bank game saying that he wasn't there. I was just wondering since I have a student there!!
  5. Does anyone know when Hixson's coach will be able to coach again since he was suspended?
  6. They haven't won but 1 game this year and haven't even started their district games which will be difficult. What is going on? This is the coaches 3rd or 4th year. Shouldn't they be winning by now? Usually a program is in place by the 4th year and teams are usually successful. I just don't get it.
  7. I assume Cookeville is on Central time. What time are the games? Is 7:45 central time or eastern? If eastern, that would be 8:45 Chattanooga time, right?
  8. So are you saying the new Coach at Hixson is not a good man or a good Coach?

  10. So no one knows anything about this hire? Just looking for information. Anyone?
  11. Does anybody know anything about this hire? Apparently the guy came from Centennial but never won up there. Did he just not have players? I know that is a good area as far as basketball and isn't Centennial a big school? One time I read the athletic director at Hixson says he has had a winning record everywhere he has been but a newspaper said he left because of a 26-34 record. That is not winning. Sounded like to me he is coming home and is a hometown hero that is glad to be back home. The news talked more about what he did in high school and college instead of what he is going to do for Hixson. Just not sold that this is the right hire. Hixson hasn't had a winning record in 5 years, why hire a coach who hasn't had one in ? years? Not knocking this guy, don't know him, but was there not anyone more successful that applied for this job? Does anyone from Centennial or the Franklin know about this coach that can shed light on his coaching skills?
  12. Him going to the hospital sounds like something he would do. The incident you are talking about was a bunch of lies. Talking to a guy about that the other day when Eller's name came up. He said that it was taken before the board and the truth finally came out. He didn't get his coaching job back but was espunged and is still teaching. The guy said he did well at Hamilton Heights, won over 60 games in 3 years, national champion runners-up and won a national championship the next year. So pretty good. He said he didn't know if Eller would go back to Hixson but would make a good head coach somewhere. Have they hired anybody yet?
  13. Yea. I think that was his name. They were pretty consistent when he was there. Don't know if he would actually come back but if I was them, I would at least try and go after him. Where is he at now anyways?
  14. Bring back the Coach that was there a few years ago. He knew how to win. Won over 200 games and 3 district championships.
  15. Hixson gets beat by almost 40 last night. Are you kidding? Now is the time that you should be playing better at least and getting into rhythm and playing together to get ready for the district tournament. Definitely not happening here. Last night was horrible. Can't win if team is centered around one player only and no one else is contributing or allowed to contribute. Definitely noticed last night after watching, it is the coaching. TERRIBLE! Didn't have team prepared, didn't know what to do or when to do it. I answered my own question about what has happened to Hixson basketball.
  16. They were just in the District Finals 5 years ago against Howard and won the District in 05. Went to the Region in all of those years. Football hadn't even been to the playoffs in the last seven years until Fitzgerald arrived and did a great job. Basketball was very good mid 90s and early 2000's. There were many 20 win seasons during that time. As a Hixson alumni, I am changing my mind about sending my son to Hixson when he is in high school. I just can't understand why seeing them at the beginning of the year and now, they are doing the same things, making the same mistakes and are not better and have alot of experience on that team. Surely they could finish in the top 4 and go to the Region with the athletes they have. Just don't get it.
  17. Can anyone tell me what has happened to Hixson basketball. I know they play in a tough district but they have always played in that tough district and used to be very successful. I went to watch them the other night and they have some good looking players and athletes, they just don't play basketball very well. Many times they just look like they were out there doing whatever. Just don't get it. They have had a losing record the past few years and with the Seniors they have this year leaving, the future may not be very bright. Just wondering. There is a tradition of not only winning but they used to be the team that was very hard to beat years ago. Now, they are just getting beat. ALOT! If anyone know what has happened, please let me know.
  18. Good opinion. I agree that those comments are somewhat out of line. These two coaches never have blamed themselves after losses. It always seems to be somebody elses fault. They can't make adjustments. They can't take kids that don't play basketball everyday and teach them the game. There success relies on having the better and more athletic players than most of the teams that they play. When they run into teams that are more disciplined and play more as a team, they have trouble. Discipline as far as how a person acts and as far as how a person performs are two different things that must work together to be successful. But self discipline must be instilled and demanded in order for a team to be successful. If a team doesn't play as a team by the end of the season and especially in the big tournament, then it hasn't been instilled enough from day one and throughout the season. I definitely wouldn't want a coach talking about my son in that manner. In the locker room, what is said in there, stays in there, when you leave there. The coach at some point needs to evaluate himself. Remember, ATTITUDE REFLECTS LEADERSHIP!!!!
  19. I have to correct you on this. Hixson has been 6AA since 2001. They were AAA before this. The 6AA district consisted of Hixson, Sequatchie, Bledsoe, Grundy, Marion, Howard East Ridge and Notre Dame. A few years later CSAS joined and eventually CCS joined. District 5AA consisted of Brainerd, Tyner, McMinn Central, Sequoyah, Sweetwater, Tellico Plains, Boyd Buchanan and Meigs. A few years later Brainerd, Tyner joined 6AA from 5AA, Red Bank and Central joined 6AA from 6AAA and East Hamilton joined 6AA when it opened. CCS, Sequatchie, Bledsoe, Notre Dame and Grundy joined a district together, Marion went A and CSAS went A. The district now is still 6AA with Howard, Brainerd, Hixson, Tyner, Red Bank, Central, East Ridge and East Hamilton. Hixson has been 6AA since 2001 and went to the Region every year except the last four years. They were never in 7AA and I am certain about that.
  20. That is an embarrassing article. The bad part is the Hixson coaches response about turning the ball over against Hixson Middle School. Very unprofessional and demeaning to his players. Parents should be upset about that, his players should be upset and Tyner should be upset too for him comparing them to middle school talent. Why would you be playing the middle school or scrimmaging them anyway. No wonder they are not going to get better. Dishrags excuse may be that it is one of the best districts in the state but 16 points! Really? Surely as a high school coach he could find a way to create more points. Maybe he needs to coach middle school? By his words, they can obviously beat the high school. I don't want to hear the best district in the state excuse because just 4 or 5 years ago Hixson was very successful in the same district and made it to the region every year. Something has got to change. These kids deserve more than failure and excuses! Somebody needs to wake up!
  21. What in the world has happened to Hixson boys basketball. I never thought I would say this but it looks as if the girls team may be getting better than the boys. They were terrible against Soddy. No discipline and they looked like they didn't know what they were doing. The tradition of basketball deserves more than this. I remember when coach dishrag was hired, he said they were use to hanging banners in the rafters and winning championships at Hixson, I plan on carrying on this tradition. Ha! Ha! Ain't happening. Time for a change. It is embarrassing to watch these kids cheated from learning the game of basketball and experiencing success. It is time for a change!
  22. It was great to read in Thursdays paper the other day that Coach Bill Eller is back into coaching again. I know that he has been through alot but has really come out on top. He is a great coach and Hamilton Heights is very lucky to catch such a successful coach of his caliber. I can't wait to see some of his teams play. Nothing like hard nose man-to-man defense and motion offense to watch. Can't wait. Congratulations Coach Eller.
  23. Howard doesn't have that great of coaching. Moose is a good guy but not a great coach. Yea, he wins in the city of Chatt. but he never takes the team anywhere for tournaments outside the city to play really hard competition or even competition(teams) that he might see in the state tournament. Winning during the season is great but 1 game and out is only satisfactory. When you get to state you have to rely on that tough competition, whether you won or lost, to help you battle through tough situations that you may face at the state tournament. If you haven't played very tough competition, you better be a great coach that can make adjustments when needed during the state tournament and have watched alot of game film on the teams that are present at the state tournament. Moose does none of this and really can't. You can't always keep doing the same things that you have done all year and always be successful at the state. Preparation is the key. You may go up there with the attitude that people know who we are but year after year, they know where you are going. Home. Moose just can't win the big one. 26-4 looks good for a coaches record but a gold ball looks good for everybody. Nobody remembers how you start, they remember how you finish. 20 times to the tournament with no results is only field trips.
  24. I have a 17 year old young man that is from Brazil. He would very much like to stay over the summer to play on a traveling team. He is about 6'2", point guard, and very athletic and quick. He can score as well as pass and loves to play up tempo basketball. This kid can really play. If anyone can help me out please call the Headmaster, Duke Stone, at Hamilton Heights Christian Academy. It will be much appreciated.
  25. I didn't mean to offend you with the truth. Hixson outscored its opponents 277 to 37. Actually wrestled a team of Junior Varsity wrestlers named "Team Combine". "He then arranged the pools to please the coaches that were there". It is easy to see who was pleased. I know about Soddy and Ooltewah. I was there. Soddy has wrestlers hurt and Ooltewah is down very much. Please, this was posted on another post. Quit living in the past. Bradley is next on the schedule Jan. 5 at the middle school. Did these duals prepare Hixson for Bradley by outscoring their opponents 277 to 37 and wrestling a group of Junior Varsity wrestlers? Which I can't believe happened. I don't see it. After Bradley is Seq. Co., Whitwell, Central (who didn't score a point against Hixson) Boyd who is limited in number, CCS who also is limited in number causing forfeits. I know there are district schedules to follow but where are the McCallie and Baylor teams that Coach Vandergriff was never once scared to face? I, being a Hixson alumni, remember those days. What more do I want from them? I want to be able to sit in Franklin and see a kid from Hixson make it real far. But without proper preparation with the thought of February in mind, a winning season in December and January is well forgotten in February when it really counts. As far as bashing Hixson, take it how you may. Time will tell and I'll see if you are sitting in the stands in Franklin more or sitting on the sidelines coaching a State Champion. I'll bet the stands. Spectator. As far as the play room remark, how immature. I would hope that your players don't know that you have conversations of bashing your toy in a play room. Please keep that to yourself!
