  1. Greetings tincup. Give me a yell sometime and we can talk hoops.
  2. I just wish that they would let everyone step into the lane after the ball leaves the shooters hand and not have to wait until it hits the rim. So much more can be done to get an offensive rebound this way. The only way that the officials are going to clean up play around the basket is to make the proper calls and be consistent.
  3. Be sure and save me a seat LanderBlue. Maybe I can sit with both you and OnlineLC.
  4. Thanks for the info (directions)...it is a big help...Thanks again...
  5. Could someone please give me directions to Cumberland Gap...This will be my initial visit and I want to make sure I am going to the right place. As for the game...The Dogs have played pretty lousy the last couple of weeks so I have no idea what to expect. I guess that we will see if they do in fact have any HEART, because a loss means they are out of the playoffs (most likely).
  6. If there is a better player than Mark Byrd I haven't seen him...There is no one more deserving than him for the award...but no one was more deserving for the Heisman than Peyton Manning either...The right person doesn't always win it...like the Heisman it is a popularity contest...Mark Byrd is my choice, but I haven't seen the other candidates...I have to base my opinion on constantly being awed and impressed by Byrd each and every game...And what a fine outstanding young man he is to boot...He is definitely the total package...
  7. Obviously the people at the Kingsport Times-News are horribly mistaken What kind of lunch breaks do they take over there?...Cloudland-48 Cherokee-21
  8. Pardon my mistake. I meant to say that he doesn't have any "baby" fat.
  9. His name is Steven Roop and he is 6 '5 1/2 338 lbs. He doesn't have any body fat and is extremely agile and mobile. The best part is that he is a straight A student and a great kid. The future is definitely bright for this young man.
  10. I believe that he just turned it again when he was trying to make a cut. We might possibly could have made it a little more competitive for you guys if Mitchell was healthy but no way could we beat you guys. You and your brother are the real deal, along with the rest of your teammates. Best of luck the rest of the season.

It is a little early to be giving up on the 'Dogs. Granted they have not played well but think of this...They played Cloudland, which is supposed to have the best team that they have ever had and then they played Knox Catholic, which in my opinion is the best team that they have played since 1994-95 (Meigs Co.) which beat Hampton 61-8 in the playoffs. The key missing ingredient is Morton. His injury really put a crimp in the 'Dogs scheme. That is the one position that the 'Dogs could not replace and you are seeing the reprocussions of it. The secondary has been a weak spot but that should have been expected with the loss of players like Harrison and McKinney from last year. The 'Dogs still have time to right the ship but if Morton doesn't get healthy don't look for it any time soon. For you people who are giving up on the 'Dogs, shame on you, and for those of you who like to blame the coaching staff get a life. We don't bad mouth other teams and we certainly should not badmouth or own. We should be supportive in bad times as well as good.
  12. Mitchell reaggravated his ankle injury early in the third quarter. His mobility is not very good. He was just beginning to get a little back. I too would like to see a Knox Catholic/Cloudland matchup. It would be an entertaining game with all that speed on the field. Both teams have the quick strike capability. Catholic is definitely worth the price of admission.
  13. I don't know what Father Ryan has but I got an up close and personal look at Catholic last Friday night at Hampton. In my humble opinion Catholic is the best team that Hampton has played since 94-95 when the 'Dogs played Meigs Co. and lost 61-8. They are also the best team to come to Hampton since the Leroy Thompson led Austin-East team in the early 80's. AusDan if you are #4, you are a player. Best of luck to you guys the rest of the year. I enjoyed watching your team play.

It is definitely going to be a tough chore for the 'Dogs Friday night. They are going to have to play one of their better games to have a chance. Catholic looks to be pretty tough. Catholic should have scheduled Cloudland. Now that would be a good matchup. Hopefully, win or lose, the 'Dogs will play well and get ready for the upcoming conference schedule.
  15. He got hurt on the last or next to last play against Johnson Co. when they scrimmaged. They thought it was his knee at first but it turned out to be his ankle. I don't know the extent of the injury. I have only heard speculation. If he cannot play or has to go out, the Dogs are in BIG trouble.
  16. I will be in Roan Mountain to watch the Hampton/Cloudland game. I wish that this game was later in the season but hopefully it will be a little competitive. With Hampton's QB (Morton) hurt, that could be in doubt. Should be a good one to watch anyway.
  17. Answer me this. If PFHS is going to be that good then why did they refuse to scrimmage Cloudland recently?
  18. Jamie Combs of the Elizabethton Star. He doesn't write much anymore but when he does he puts the kids first...the way it should be.
  19. You are right on the money Sequatchie. The 'Dogs have a tough schedule but hopefully it will get them ready for the playoffs.
  20. Danny McClain is currently the Principal at Hampton High School and cannot become the Head Football Coach unless he gives up his current position. This is why I say that Scotty Bunton will be your next coach. With Doug Phillips retired, he still helps out though, and Danny being principal, that is most likely the logical choice. I have heard other rumors though but I won't get into them, as they are simply that...speculation.
  21. Look for Scotty Bunton to take over. He is currently the head Baseball coach now. But a lot could happen between now and then.
  22. I pretty much agree with REBELRON, but I would also add J.C. Campbell of Hampton to the list. He has been very successful for many years (30+) and is still going strong, although I believe this will be his last year. He deserves some recognition.
  23. I agree with you answer but the powers that be say that the student athletes signed with a university not a coach. I think that the new coach, whomever it may be, has the power to release the player(s) from their letter of intent. Someone can correct me on this for I am not sure...
