  1. They used to do something similiar to that and it got the players a 1/2 credit per year x 4 years = 2 credits which would give the 26 needed to graduate. Then the Director of Schools informed the school that a law went into effect several years ago that prohibited that. Since we're on a semester system (only 2 during the year) the two sport athlete would still miss out if 4th block athletics was still operating. For example: Start of school through football is 1st semester. Then baseball is in the second. Basketball actually falls in 1st and 2nd. I know alot of schools get the PE credit thing by doing this, but they are supposed to open it up to all students not just student/athletes, but they get around that somehow. Columbia Central does this I think and they are in Maury County also. I've also heard Mt. Pleasant does as well.
  2. Spring Hill does not have a last period or block for athletics. If a player plays 2 sports then they wouldn't have enough credits to graduate. Here's how it all works out. You must have 26 credits to graduate. You earn 4 credits (1 each block per semester) or 8 per year. If a player plays two sports or practiced athletics all year in 4th block, then they would only earn 6 per year x 4 years only equals 24 credits. SH wants their students to have the opportunity to play more than 1 sport. It's not just about football. Don't forget about the other sports including girls' sports.
  3. Anybody know of any interviews or job offers on these openings?
  4. Don't know much about Mitchell, but DL may be the best in the State 3A team. Lipscomb 38 Mitchell 17
  5. I don't think we're realted. My nephew was a junior on the 02 DL team. Played DE. Does your nephew play football at SH? It would be great if all the 5-3A teams had a fanpage/website.
  6. We're trying to get one started at Spring Hill, but we're in our infancy stage. Take a look at eteamz.com/raiders Let us know what you think. Thanks and good luck to the Mustangs. My nephew played on the 02 Championship team.
  7. Heard that Coach Scharsch (from Eagleville) had interviewed for the Spring Hill job this week. What do any posters know about him? Thanks.
  8. The Head Coach position and teaching position (PE/Life Wellness) at Spring Hill High is now listed at mauryk12.org. It mentions nothing about this being a temporary position etc. Hope SHHS gets a good quality head coach.
  9. Lipscomb has Bolivar for Thanksgiving leftovers. Lipscomb 35; Bolivar 14.
  10. I agree with Coach Oskins, but I think you have to have a teaching certificate to be a Head Coach in High School per TSSAA rules. Not sure whether he has that or not? Who is Coach Herzog and what's his background?
  11. It is stange that you don't hear anything about interest in Marco Daily? I am very familiar with the MP area, and there has been no talk about any school showing interest in him. That is very unusual for such a high profile player?
  12. As of this morning the Spring Hill Head Coaching Job is still not posted on Maury County's School website or on TSSAA's website. I wonder why not?
  13. Just curious why the McKnight/Spring Hill discussion was shut down? /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  14. SCW86 you are right on about the parents. At Spring Hill this year we had a kid quit after the 3rd game. It wasn't because of playing time either. He was a starter and played well. He just decided he didn't want to play anymore and his parents just let him quit. The coach tried to talk to the parents, but they saw nothing wrong with him "quitting" mid season. In my day we were taught, no it was expected; to finish what you start.
  15. I agree, but.... Line play will be the key. SH must get some better line play or it won't make any difference who's at QB
  16. I run about 12 miles per week, but I'm over 50 now. I wish him all the best and maybe he will be a "Great SEC Player". Alot and I mean alot of Great High School players have a hard time adusting when everybody is Big and Fast. He didn't look like a 4.7 the times I saw him play.
  17. I've seen Hightower play a couple times this year. I'm not sure he'll make it in the SEC where everyone will be as big, if not bigger, and alot faster. Looked slow. If he gets bigger maybe a DT, but not fast enough for DE in the SEC.
  18. They can run Hightower all they want. If they don't score more than 35 points Lipscomb wins. Period.
  19. I just hope they bring somone in from the outside. There is not anyone on the staff that is ready to be a Head Coach. McKnight is a good guy, but I agree he probably wasn't head coach material yet. Stone was interim Head Coach in 05 went 0-10, but that year under Stone is probably the reason they were 6-6 the following year and made the playoffs.
  20. I've been at SHHS a few times this year and have seen some really big-athletic kids in the hallway. I wonder why more of these kids aren't playing football? When I played the coaches would walk the hallways and classrooms encouraging kids to play, and many would. Does that not happen now?
  21. Fact is they would run the 'I" occasionally and pick up 4-6 yds per play. Then go back to the "spread" and pick up nothing and punt or go for it on 4th down. No game plan! It seemed as though the coaches weren't satisfied with 1st downs; they wanted a TD every play and if there Senior QB didn't score it was not a good play. Offensive football is about 1st downs;.....and the TD's will come.
  22. More important than his "big arm" is his "Big Heart"! Works harder than anyone else on the team. If a good QB coach had him, could probably go college. I heard he wears a 15 shoe size and he'll grow into it. Also hear he now runs 5.0-40 and is improving on that. Some of his team mates have started calling him "B" Bow. GO GATORS!
