  1. middleton beat manassas 4 times this year; by 7 twice, 25 in the district cship and by 2 as well, so middleton fared better than bradford and it was about even.
  2. middleton will be back again--- only losing 2 seniors and they have 10 freshmena and sophomores chompin' at the bit
  3. we are a single A school, that means we are supposed to be small. can't help our gym is small, or that we even have a band that plays at games, unlike most other schools, etc... the district tourney, btw, rotates between memphis and middleton each year.
  4. well well well...two very bitter foes will square off monday night at jcs for what should be a nailbiter. madison has been a thron in middleton's side the past two years, putting the lady tigers out in the region semis and the region opener. middleton beat a great riverside team by 18 last night while madison drubbed fayette academy by 30. any thoughts on the game???
  5. there have always been great games between adamsville and middleton. that use to be the highlights of district 15A before middleton moved out., yet both teams have still found ways to schedule each other and keep the rivalry going. the 02-04 teams of adamsville had brandon perkins, tyler qualls, dominique shoate, justin shirley and others that really challenged middleton and beat them quite a bit. for an avid basketball fan, this rivalry is second to none IMO. ultimately, this game will be a good one. i wish the best of luck to both teams and coaches tonight. it really stinks that such good teams have to square off so early in the tourneys.
  6. oh i believe that adamsville has a shot at winning, that is why they play the game. however, with a bad loss to trinity and a struggle against scotts hill, they obviously appear a little rattled and coming to middleton doesn't ease things for them. the trinity--fayette game will be interesting. they both play similar styles and it should be a good one. jcs and middle college will also be very interesting. i hope middle college pulls it out for district 16a, but going into jcs will be a test. jcs will be more methodical while middle college will rely on their athleticism top pull out the win. i believe middleton and manassas will square off again for the region title. anything can happen and that is what makes tourney time so great.
  7. middleton will win this game by 15. i have watched games between these two for years and years and they are great to watch, but as you recall, last year adamsville slipped up and got murdered by 30 pts. and that team had WAY more talent than this year's team. middleton will be ready to play...trust me. they are not taking the game lightly either, and as legend mentioned, maybe that other district is looking at middleton at being weak. i hope so. i hope they do not gauge middleton's season performance on the game against manassas the other night. manassas is just flat out better, period. they do everything they have to put you away. middleton just did not have the horses to make a huge run with them. watch out for middleton...this isnt unfamiliar territory for them.
  8. why should middleton be forced to play with the memphis teams? is it because they won so much when they played in district 15 A. memphis should have their own tournament. the lack of A schools in memphis is diminishing even further and if other memphis schools have to go up because of enrollment, i wouldnt be surprised to see middleton back in district 15 before it is all said and done. middleton played with district 15 A teams for years and it was a good thing. there were great games between all of those teams. also, middleton brought alot of fans to games and helped bring alot of money to various schools that they played.
  9. that just shows that anything can happen in tournaments. i disagree that this will not hurt adamsville too badly. the same thing happened last year, and they ended up going to middleton and got pummeled by 30. that team had WAY more talent than this year's team. greg martin is a very good coach and gets everything out of his players, but i think that when you go untouched in the regular season and then lose to a low seed in the tourneys, it makes you question yourself. it will affect them more than you think. also, trinity won on their home floor, didnt they? cant be considered that great of an upset when you are use to playing in that gym daily. give credit to trinity---they defeated a good team when the stakes were at its highest and proved that the favorite doesnt always win.
  10. i believe 1976 was the last year middleton won the region. they went to state in 1978, but did not win the region. i agree about burkley. to start with virtually nothing, go 0-26 your first year and then reel off 3 district titles in a row is truly amazing. his work ethic and his passion for his girls is second to none and the amount of intensity that is brought to each game is also noteworthy.
  11. congrats to the lady tigers after a 25 pt win last night against a good manassas team in the district 16a championship. middleton came out on fire and played a great game pushing manassas to the limit and eventually never looked back en route to the title. this puts the #1 lady tigers at 27-1 as they get ready to move on to the region tournament this upcoming weekend. does anyone have any thoughts about the region 8a tournament? this tourney will be packed with talent as middleton, manassas, adamsville, madison, and riverside all will square off against one another in what should be a great tourney.
  12. this game was absolutely fantastic last night. in the end, it was #2 in single-a middleton (23-1, 6-0) defeating manassas (19-10, 4-2) in a complete thrillfest 63-61. both teams played extremely hard and with all the hoopla about middle and east tennessee teams, people need to pay attention to these two great teams from the west. middleton has lost only one game to h.w byers, who is ranked 1st in their class in mississippi while manassas has lost to some serious competition from much larger classes. both teams are extremely talented, quick, and relentless on both ends of the floor. congrats to both coach burkley of middleton and the coach from manassas for two terrific seasons and for providing two great games for the fans.
  13. jasmine perry of middleton she brings it game in and game out and is averaging over 16 points a game, plus she is one of the hardest working defenders in the state; i would put her up against anyone. she has been the main reason that middleton is 2nd in the state in single A and is 21-1 overall.
  14. jasmine perry, sharon morgan, and angelia geanes of middleton. they bring it every night.
