  1. How does the 2009-2010 schedule look for next year. Have you gotten anything planned or confirmed as of yet? I just read a post by the MTSU coach and he said he had the full support of the university(MTSU) has APSU done anything to help you build the program. How many wrestlers will you have for next year?
  2. Expect a big turn out for this tournament. Pretty excited for the kids this weekend. Go Iron Knights!!!
  3. Pretty hard to pay attention after that explanation. I have no clue on what the organizers have tried to do maybe you can point them out to me. Does Clarksville (CHS) even have a club team, the only two teams that I am aware of are the Iron Knights (great turnout this year, Coach doing a great job promoting wrestling in the Clarksville area) and the Rossview Hawks club team. When does the CHS club team practice?
  4. I think there is a fair argument to be had for both sides. The site is small and not very accommodating for teams other the CHS. I am all for a bigger venue that is held elsewhere as long as it is rotated along with the individuals. I think the bigger problem that they need to address is the profits that are made at these events, where do they go? I take it that CHS pockets what they make and every other school in Clarksville goes without. I think if the site is hosted in Clarksville in the future ASPU could be used (with appropriate scheduling). I think that some sort of profit sharing should be used between all the local schools that help host the event. People know why CHS is the only school in Clarksville with its own wrestling facility (a lot of money lives on that side of town). I live in Clarksville for the record and have attended duals over the years. This year was the first year that I attended since the privates went to father Ryan and I was hopeful but it was the same crowded, hot, rude place. Me and my boys left early.
  5. I think you will find over the next few years that club wrestling participation at both these institutions will increase. When I return from Iraq I will definitely be there showing my support. Keep at it. Wrestle hard.
  6. Couldn??™t understand why they gave Kenwood heavy the extra match? He should sweep 285 regardless. Armstrong should take 135, will be a surprise if he doesn??™t. Noticed the Rossview Johnson is like 29-0 or something but like someone mentioned in an earlier post level of comp hasn??™t been there. Grady should take 140 with ease, followed by Johnson or Williams. Kenwood??™s 140 could sneak in there but he will have to have the match of his life. best of luck to all region 9 wrestlers.
  7. Sponsored by the Iron Knights wrestling club the Clarksville Classic kicks off early Saturday morning from the campus of Northwest High School. I was wondering who out there (teams/individuals) plan on attending? It sounds like it is the destination for wrestling fans this weekend. I think the past few weeks have been great for middle Tennessee wrestling starting with the Duals, sharpshooter tournament and now the Clarksville classic. The Trojan Classic starts on a Friday and for most folks up in Nashville and Clarksville it makes it nearly impossible to make (in this case my wife since she takes the son, due to me not being home). I personally like seeing the amount of wrestling taking place in and around our part of Tennessee. Good luck to all.
  8. Although I was not there (currently in Iraq) but have attended in the past several times (when I am not in Iraq/Afghanistan). I would agree that the venue needs to be moved to somewhere that can facilitate the tournament and its fans. I would like to see the duals stay in Clarksville maybe APSU would be a good choice. I would like to thank everyone for staying on the boards and keeping me up to date on the tournament.
  9. What will it take to bring wrestling to APSU? We have seen the impact that UTC has made on Chattanooga area high schools, imagine the impact that bringing wrestling to APSU could have on middle Tennessee wrestling. But due to Title IX and Equity in Athletic Opportunity this is what stops APSU from offering wrestling. What can be done to bring wrestling to APSU and ideas?
  10. The heavyweight class in TN (my opinion) is not strong; the few that are out there seem to get most of there wins by forfeit so not much depth across the state in this weight class (my opinion). I would expect that the same two are left in the end and either one could win it all. Sliger will not dominate Mycek, it will come down who is better prepared (physically and mentally)
  11. Montgomery Central 46, Kenwood 36 103 ??” Travis Corbitt (MC) won by forfeit 112 ??” Bryce Neblett (MC) def. Jonathan Chavez, 13-2 119 ??” Grant Hill (MC) pinned Austin Root, :56 125 ??” Carl Sinkler (K) pinned Evan Ames, :31 130 ??” J.B. Parker (MC) won by forfeit 135 ??” Robert Armstrong (K) pinned Matt Price, 1:12 140 ??” Jason Bartlett (K) wins by medical forfeit 145 ??” Ronald Perry (MC) pinned Joseph Degon, :34 152 ??” Zack Adams (K) pinned Adam Fischer, 1:22 160 ??” Chris Zachariason (K) pinned Patrick Hilde, 1:20 171 ??” Brock Hermantin (MC) pinned Keith Shumate, 1:44 189 ??” Collins Mensing (MC) pinned Jonathan Haley, 4:35 215 Tony Sauers (MC) pinned Jose Ferren, :34 285 ??” Robert Mycyk (K) pinned Steven Sheaves, 1:42 I see that MC took two by forfeit, will or does Kenwood have a 103 this year? Armstrong=Boebert??? How did the 125 and 140 look for KW, from here they seem like they are doing well. I still see a few names missing from the KW lineup (not looking or making excuses, just curious)Congrats to MC, looks like region 9 is heating up.
  12. I did not see the actual advertisement for Phillip S. ? but what was on this post at the top says "will hold a wrestling clinic" maybe they should have been a little more clear on what they were offering. I thought it was a little off just because three hours isn't much time to hold much of a clinic, unless only a few kids show up. I think most kids are taught proper technique while in school, however many do not actually use it for one reason or another. I have been round and round with mine and he still thinks his way is best.
  13. As far as footgear goes I would offer up the Cael V3.0 Wrestling Shoe, and for the head the Cliff Kleen Twister Headgear. Locally there are not many stores that offer a varitey of wrestling gear so as suggested you may need to buy online.

    Kenwood?

Where did you read the box scores at? Could you post them? I know Boebert wrestled at 140, but not really sure why Mycik didnt wrestle (the other page said something about a hydration test or something)
  15. I think both sides were determined to change it up a bit, maybe to not show there hand to soon. I know many of the KW wrestlers were wrestling up. Still to early in the season to get to excited over a win, I think there was some experimentation going on. Has any of the result hit the local papers? Did KW wrestle FRA?
  16. This is what many of the kids at all Clarksville area schools have been training for all year...Wrestling. Its time to see who put the work in and is willing to step it up even more now that the season has begun. As Matwizard87 has said leave the trash talk at the door and let your actions speak on the mat. Tough thing for Kenwood is that they have not had the continuity within the coaching ranks as many of the top programs have had (one reason being such a young school). However, what they do have this year is a coach who has added a lot of intensity and motivation in the practice room and I believe he will have this team ready for whatever comes there way. I just hope that the school puts more support into the program (that has been more successful then most sports at KW) and try to keep Coach C. around so that he can build KW into the wrestling powerhouse they can be. I think another bright spot that will pay off in the near future for KW, NW, NE is the Iron Knights Wrestling Club that last years coach (Coach Slight) started. This is the 2nd year for the club and many of the KW wrestlers volunteer which has proven to be a valuable resource for all the up and coming young wrestlers. Both Clarksville and Kenwood have dominated wrestling in Clarksville the last ten years but the great thing this year according to the Leaf Chronicle is that a few more schools are coming online and have had huge turnouts which will allow them to field all weight classes. This should be a much more competitive region 9 this year. I must admit Clarksville has a great program with a booster club that puts in the work just as much as the wrestlers (Every School should have a wrestling room). So as I referred to earlier it is now time for the Kenwood Knights to go out and do what I know they can do...and that's to win. I also just want to wish all Region 9 schools the best of luck this year. Wrestle hard! The will to win is not nearly as important as the will to prepare to win.K.Chertow
  17. I'll start off at the get go and tell everyone I am a first time poster although I have been checking this site out for over two years now. I am currently posting from Iraq so excuse any slow responses that I may have in the future. Didn??™t Clarksville get a new coach? I would say Kenwood has a decent team this year but lack the depth they need in several weight classes to make any real waves, the same could be said for CHS as well. I think Kenwood??™s strongest weight classes this year will be from 112 through 140 with Mycek (HWT) headed back to state to take it all. A key for Kenwood is who they can get to show up and wrestle the top half of the bracket and stick it out for the season(this could produce some key wins). Clarksville is depending on Grady and Weakly to have big years which they may have. It looks as if Kenwood??™s R.B. is going to try and wrestle at 135 which could mean Grady could have trouble in meeting his goals this year. Several of the Kenwood wrestlers could pull of major surprises this year just as Kenwood did last year at regionals. Bottom line: It's a toss up and any one of the two top teams in Clarksville could win this match, it is going to come down to who wants it more.
