  1. Alcoa- For as much tradition as this program has why not a nicer stadium? I was not impressed with the bleachers or field at all. I don't understand this comment?? Alcoa has 545 students and will hold 6000-7000 thousand people in the stands. Its probable one of the biggest stadiums for the size of the school in the whole state. The field is really nice and your about 10 yards from the field. I think its one of the nicest places to watch a game but I'm a little biased. I can't understand what you want from a school this small. Also there was quite a few posters from different schools attend the Alcoa - Maryville game. The ones I talked to enjoyed the atmosphere and the stadium. Maryville has a nice stadium as well but the visitor stands could use an up grade.
  2. Maryville will get back to their winning ways this week. I'll take Maryville by 2 touchdowns. RebelRon, I wouldn't say Maryville spanked Alcoa's freshmen last night. Alcoa had 3 turnovers inside the 25 yard line of Maryville's end ( 3 in the first half). Alcoa had a big 4th down play and literally an inch and they run off tackle. All they had to do was a quarterback sneak as there was no one under the center. That drive was stopped late in the 3rd quarter on Maryville's 18 yard line. Very bad call on the coaches part. At that time it was 13 to 6 Maryville. I thought it was a very even match-up. Maryville's quarterback was much better than Alcoa's. That was the biggest difference in the game. Both lines were very comparable with the slight edge going to Maryville. Alcoa has some very, very good skill player on the outside just couldn't get them the ball. Skill players Alcoa definitely had the advantage. Middle linebacker for Maryville will be a stud. Both of these teams will be great in the future but to say it was a spanking is very far fetched. Maryville scored on a 28 yard run with about 4 mins left in the game to put it away.
  3. Wow ! I'd love for you to go back and show me all of these times I've belittled Alcoa ... wow . I've picked fun at you before for calling yourself a Blount county fan , when it's obvious how big an Alcoa fan you really are , but I have never belittled Alcoa , you're plain ol making stuff up now . If you see me as an Alcoa hater on here you are way too sensitive . Why don't you take your blinders off and take a look at a few of your own who take a lot of cheap shots towards Maryville . You seem to think all the Alcoa fans have halos on and any Maryville fan who doesn't say Alcoa Is the greatest team to ever play the game of football ... Is a hater . I don't believe in talking other schools or kids down , I could go back and point out several episodes of your photoshopping being disrespectful to other teams though . You know BC , after going back and reading your crap again, I just have to shake my head In amazement ...please show me where I've ever got on here after a Maryville Alcoa game and rubbed it in your face . That is a flat out lie ! You are way too sensitive and now you've started making stuff up to try and make a Maryville fan look bad . I won't do like you and a couple of your buddies do though and call you a Moron or something like that , I'll leave that for you . pepvol, FBEmeritus has called out Alcoa several times in the last few years. He has belittle players, coaches, and fans. This is the only reason I have called him a moron. When you act like a moron you get called a moron. I personally will not do this anymore as long as he act with a little bit of class. Its funny he talks about Alcoa not having any class in the past but yet he takes digs at players. Which is pretty classless on his part.
  4. Where in the world is turtle???
  5. Boy that sound like a tough road to hold for Westview. They should be very hungry but I'll take the bulldogs in this one. Milan 34 Westview 14
  6. CAK looks to be very good this year. It looks like they have put together a good group of coaches. I'll say they beat Stone by at least 5 touchdown.
  7. This is a very good rivalry. One of the best in east Tennessee. I will be watching this game with much anticipation. Alcoa has to play Fulton in a few weeks and probably will end up playing AE in the playoffs. Good luck to both teams.
  8. I haven't seen either team but I have looked at the schedules to both. Should be a close game thats very competitive. Good luck to Gibson County.
  9. If Alcoa can come off their high from the Maryville win then Loudon is in big trouble. I'll say that Loudon will be fired up and may keep it close early. However Alcoa's speed on the offensive and defensive lines will eventually dominate. Know offense to any Loudon fans are players. They have some pretty good players on the line as well. It just Alcoa is stacked and their second team is better than some teams in 3a. Alcoa 48 Loudon 3 BC Loudon gets 3 late.
  10. I get a laugh out of most of the Photoshopping going on by you guys , but I really wish you guys would refrain from the name calling to FBEmeritus . He doesn't agree with you guys and sometimes he says things that I don't agree with , but never do I see him call you guys Morons , or any other names . Maryville and Alcoa owe each other a lot , they have made each other better over the years , this year Alcoa has raised the bar up a little higher , and now Maryville needs to play catch up . I enjoy the little " Digging " back and forth with my Alcoa buddies , and I called several of them during and after the Game to congratulate them on the great game Alcoa played . This rivalry is too great to lower it by the name calling . pepvol we all like to dig at each other on here but BC is right. FBE really has crossed the line a few times. I also agree with your post. Maybe we should refrain from name calling. It will be a lot easier since we got this monkey off are backs. It been a little frustrating when you have family on the team (the last 6 years) and people want to diminish their accomplishments. Also, I have always said that these two teams have made each other better through the years. When you play good competition your only option is to get better. Good luck to Maryville and hope to see you in Cookeville. WOW that sounds very different, than going to the boro.
  11. Well eye thought so GCPioneer...... And hits knott like nobody did'unt sea him....Good job refs...... STARS you are correct that should have been a penalty. It was an obvious call, that was missed. GCPioneer, sounds like you enjoyed the game and atmosphere last night. Tried to look for that Gibson County shirt but couldn't find it in all of that red. See you in Cookeville unless the wheels fall off.
  12. Thanks bulldogfan, hope to see you in December.
  13. Don't worry I'll have more than one.
  14. WOW great showing A-E. Sounds like turtle maybe on to something with this team. I'm sure we will see you later turtle. Congrats on the Owls pulling this one out.
  15. Appreciate it REBELRON you're a class act.
  16. He's at FBEmoron's house sharing the same box of tissues.......... That's too funny . We won the war!!! I believe I'll have a beer now.
  17. pepvol I know your happy tonight but not as happy as I am. Don't worry Maryville will be back. Congrats to the TORNADOES. AND YES ALCOA CAN BEAT MARYVILLE....
  18. WHOOOOOAAA!!! What a great game by Alcoa's offensive and defensive lines. This finally gets the monkey off our backs. It was a funny game because we did what Maryville usually does to us. We pounded the rock all night and they had the big plays. Weird to see that.. Our kids really responded great tonight and that makes me awfully proud to be an Alcoa fan. Awfully proud of my nephew who played offense line tonight. He played awesome as well as the other lineman. I want to say thanks to everyone that has congrats for the TORNADOES win. As for the some of the poster about Maryville not being up to standards. I will say that Maryville will be back and believe they do have some talent. West and Horne are very good players. Juhlin is one of the better quarterback in the state. I wouldn't sell this Maryville team short just yet. There nothing for the Rebel nation to be ashamed of. I'll predict Maryville only loses one more game in the regular season ( maybe two). The Maryville poster that said Maryville will go 5-5 is just crazy. Alcoa is just that good, ask Bell County. Alcoa would have a chance to win any classification this year in my opinion. Good luck to the Rebels the rest of the year and GQ. GQ will have this team ready to go, come playoff time. Don't count the Rebels out just yet. WOW FINALLY!!!
  19. GCPioneer, be careful on your way up. Get ready for the WAR!
  20. These are the kinds of statements that make me angry. For whatever reason, whoever Maryville is playing tends to think it's okay to assert that Maryville never beats anyone. Of course, it will mean nothing to you that I'm at the MHS games watching those opponents while you're at the Alcoa games. Of course it will mean nothing for me to say that in having seen both Alcoa and MHS's other opponents over the years that I think Alcoa would suffer the same fate at the hands of other, larger schools that they do against Maryville most years...nevermind the fact that you don't actually have the luxury of having seen these teams play in person (and, yes, I'm making the assumption here that you're actually going to Alcoa's games and seeing them play). There's a flaw in logic there. For many an Alcoa fan it has gone like this: Maryville is the best in 4A. Alcoa is the best in 2A. Alcoa only lost to Maryville, so they must be better than all the other teams that Maryville beats as well. (And yes I understand that those classifications have changed, so please not that I spoke in the past tense intentionally.) That reasoning doesn't work. I won't say that no Maryville folks have made any outlandish claims on this thread, but you can read through all 50+ pages and this will be the first post you've seen from me. I'm disappointed in the way the discussion of this great rivalry has deteriorated this season. We're usually better than this. I'm looking forward to a great game, but I don't know if I'll be able to make it in person. Does anyone know if there's a way to watch it without going? TV? Internet? Let me start by saying that this would not have been an issue, if your MARYVILLE (MLREB,mhs & FBE) posters would not have made it one. As for not playing anybody. I would say maybe the 1st or 2nd round of the playoffs but there has been some good 2a teams. That's not Alcoa fault for playing a 2-8 team first round or a 6-5 club the second round. That's the TSSAA fault. We just play who they put in front of us. There has been some good teams that we have played also. CAK was very good 2 years ago. Tyner, Marion County, DCA, & Loudon 4 years ago were very good teams for 2a. The fact is we have been on a different level in 2a BUT the Maryville fans don't want to accept that. Instead you want to tell us how we haven't played anyone. You want to diminish the accomplishment of our kids. Then can we not use that same logic. Also, I have seen a few teams that Maryville has played (this side of the bracket) in the playoffs and I can tell you Alcoa would have probably beaten all of those teams during there run the last 5 years. Of course we don't know because NONE OF THOSE TEAMS WOULD SCHEDULE ALCOA IN THE REGULAR SEASON. NONE OF THEM!! Why don't you Maryville fans call these schools up yourself and ask them to play a school with 540 students to get an easy win? OOHHH yea FBEmoron, I talked to a few of Rhea County's coaches at the championship game between Alcoa and Milan. They were very impressed with Milan and Alcoa. They also said that they would have had a hard time beating Alcoa but we will never know. As for Central and Morristown the last 5 years. Morristown has not been very good since they beat you guys 6 years ago. So you need to get your facts straight there. Central had a good team in 05 but beating us common. Of course I won't be able to use this logic anymore. Maryville will have to play one of the best teams in the state to make it too the title game. They will have to play one of the big boys from Nashville. This will definitely make it tougher for you guys. 6a is much tougher to win titles and I guess this is why you guys are so upset. Because you'll never break ALCOA'S championship string of 5 straight (and counting as of now). As for the game on Friday. I will always support this community and team no matter what happens Friday night. If we lose then we move to the next game. If we win then we have a chance to go undefeated this year and make history again with 6 in a row.
  21. For one that comment was a little bit of tongue and check. I was just giving you a little bit of ribbing. Alcoa hasn't won anything yet. As for the competition Maryville has played to get to the championship game. I would say that it hasn't been much better than what Alcoa's had to play against. Granted the teams in the championship game have been very good but I say to you Alcoa's been better than any team Maryville has faced before you have gotten to the title game. So typical of SOME of the Maryville elitist. And look here comes one of the elitist ring leaders FBEmoron. Right on cue...
