  1. OldEagle is correct, I was definitely not refering to Chase (and I used the term "weaker, not weak") but the system leaves a large group of good wrestlers out of medal contention that deserve the opportunity. There is no good reason that a 32 man field could not complete a standard double elimination in two and a half days. Eliminate or move the ridiculous "Girls Tournament" and move DII to a separate venue.
  2. Once again, the stupidity of the "Carry" system rears its ugly head. Weaker wrestlers get a second chance, great wrestlers are one and done. /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />

    Region 6

With Cox moving to 130 - good move by Keifer to go back to 135.

    Region 6

Two notes: Josh Patton is not in Region 6 and Austin Cox wrestled at 130 in the duals, no reason to think he will change for individual unless someone can clarify.
  5. What does that say about us.......?!? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  6. When will the schedule and matchups be final? I have to drive from Memphis to Clarksville that afternoon and want to be sure to give myself time to see our team. Do the matches begin at 3pm or is that weigh-in?
  7. BCB, Couldn't agree with you more, it was a very smart match. Normally Cameron just plays with his food before eating and this was very entertaining. I go about 191 myslef and I would look like the Roadrunner if I was on the mat with the ManChild.
  8. Great Tourney Joe! Interesting side notes: 160 3rd Place cage fighting BLOOD DUEL to the finish. Felt sorry for both guys for a match that seemed to take about 45 min. to complete 171 Final - Underwhelmed, maybe they were both just worn out having gotten to the final because they just leaned on each other the whole match. Were all the points in the match penalties? Maybe each got one for escaping. 189 - RUN FORREST! How in the world did that ref give a stalling point against Croy and not give ten against the "runner" from ND? Cheers.
  9. Preseason workouts are done, real wrestling begins: Haircuts, Goatees shaved, Piles of very wet, extremely odiforous clothes piled near (never in) the washing machine, Mom's complaining, "what's that smell" Triple the milk purchases, "Sensible" eating, Arguments/disagreements/fun on Coach T, Newbies making dumb comments (I resemble that remark), The only thing missing is the complaints about officiating!! Can't wait. Only dissapointment from last year: Croy, Patton and Wolfe not being in the same tournement until State.
  10. The Brentwood Team camera is missing. It was last seen in the weigh-in room. Any help at recovering it would be appreciated. You can email me at ossbwh@att.net or post a reply here. No questions asked, just would like to get it back - more importantly for the wrestlers, the disk. Thanks
  11. How about: Athletes bring their own food, drink, nutrition bars etc. to every: track meet (indoor and outdoor, college and high school), every tennis tournament, every football game (ever see someone in pads standing in line at halftime?!?), rugby game, name it - the athletes bring their own. I can understand no food for the spectators but to restrict it for the athletes is stupid and frankly dangerous. I will repeat what I said before. If somebody tries to take away my son's banana's, gatorades, bagels or jars of peanut butter they better have a good proctologist.
  12. I know that it has been mentioned that DI is not the typical double elimination but I have searched this forum and tssaa and cannot find a description on the actual format. Can someone educate us first timers or point us to the appropriate site? Thanks!! Oh, and to put my two cents worth, if they try to take away my son's bananas, bagels and peanut butter they better be prepared to see a protologist.
  13. I hope it is still on, I was about to take the long trek from Johnson City down to G-town. It is sprinkling right now but it should stay above freezing until well past midnight. Anyone know for sure?
  14. I wish I could be there to see it but I will have to hear the play by play over the phone and then wait for Saturday. These teams match up very well with several having met at GP West. B'wood very strong at 103, 112, 152, 171, 189, 215. Overton is equally strong at some of the same weights so it will very interesting. May hinge on who goes up or down a class getting ready for State season.
  15. Brentwood was second at Ryan but has not met Germantown this year (BA possibly?). Used to live and work in China back in the early 80's for Texas Instruments. Put in the first direct T1 to the US which gave us access to the company intranet but it was very limited in "the old days". (and yes, for you kids out there there were such things way back then, Al Gore was lying!!!!) Hope you had a good time and if you ever need a finance guy over there who speaks the lingo give me an email at ossbwh@att.net.
  16. The result seem a bit deceiving as on the mat it was Seymour 4 Greenback 7 with three forefeits. What were the circumstances of the three in a row? Injuries?
  17. HMMMM....I couldn't help but notice that with the exception of a couple of FL boys and maybe one in GA, there is no love on this ranking south of the mason-dixon. Where is Tee Boone...Croy.....
  18. I could see Smiley (Hoop of Brentwood) working his way up there at 140.
  19. The strangest thing that I have seen is where a guy was wearing flesh tone tights, but only on one leg. At first I thought the guy had a prostetic but then I saw his teammates had the same tights. Why he had it on only one leg I will never know. Also, there was a guy in Franklin last year who would wear multicolored church knee socks. But it went with his personality, before the match the guy would slap his shave head, yell and scream and then talk to himself before each match. I would laugh at his opponent who would be totally freaked out and intimidated. The guy was a good wrestler and this gave him one more edge.
  20. Josh has gotten some great press lately, congrats!! When will he have a chance to go toe to toe with Croy and Wolfe since they are so close? Will Blackman be at Father Ryan or GP West?
  21. jakesdad and walkenvol, My apologies, I got caught up in the heat of the moment. (it was the three stooges comment that I was reacting to but in hind sight you might know 31Champ, and his mommy, so my comment was out of place). I will introduce myself and apologize personally at great risk in Chattanooga.
