  1. I think that the team that comes out of the GP - Lexington - Creekwood triangle has a great chance of winning it in the AA. In the A division I think Cornersville has a good chance with pitching keeping them in the hunt...but Riverside seems to be on a roll and I know absolutely nothing about them. In AAA, Riverdale now seems a little vulnerable with a late season loss in a big way. They have faced three teams in the state...MJ whom they beat 4-0 early in season, Beech where they came from behind and beat 3-2 a month ago on their own field and Maryville whom they beat 2-1 very early in the season. Soddy on the other hand does have a lot to prove. In this State Tournament they have lost to both Beech AND Mt. Juliet this season. And...beat Seymour 1-0 in their own tournament. Beech has played 5 teams in the State Tourney this year. They beat Bolton, lost to Riverdale, tied Seymour, beat Soddy and beat/lost to Mt. Juliet. Mt. Juliet has beaten Beech and Soddy...and lost to Riverdale. Seymour has tied Beech and lost to Soddy. I can't speak for the other divisions, but the AAA seems to be up for grabs based on the road these 8 great teams have travelled. This should be fun to watch !
  2. This should be quite a game. If it were an elimination game it would be more exciting though. They don't have many quality "common opponents" except for Beech. Soddy lost to Beech by 1 in a nail biter and Coffee hung on to beat Beech by one in a toe-nail biter. This game is just for bragging rights and home field advantage. The big test will be Friday and come Saturday morning there will be two super teams who will not be going to the Dance.
  3. I am sure these need editing, but these teams look like they are still in the running right now: Reg 1 - Jefferson Cty, Seymour, Science Hill and _________? Reg 2 - Karns, Central, Maryville, William Blount Reg 3 - Coffee, Soddy, Cookeville and ______________? Reg 4 - Riverdale, Lawrence Cty, Lincoln, Siegel/Blackman Reg 5 - Beech, MJ, Clarksville N/E, Rossview, Dickson Cty Reg 6 - Brentwood, Overton, Ravenwood, McGavock, Independence Reg 7 - Arlington, Bolton, Munford, Brighton Reg 8 - Collierville, Houston, __________, _____________.
  4. Since the ScoreBoard is not updated at this time, Give us some idea what teams are still alive in the Districts across the state. Best of luck to all !
  5. I have not seen Westview play this season. And, with ScoobyDoo putting them in as a sleeper makes me think they very well could be in it all the way. I do think that Sequatchie can beat anyone if playing one game. But, to make it to the State you must win multiple games. They beat some good teams in Soddy Tourney but lost in the quarter-finals to Grace Baptist who in turn got buried by Beech. Along the way, Sequatchie beat some quality opponents. At the top, I see Goodpasture. By talent, I see Creekwood. By experience and history, I see Unicoi. By pitching, I see Lexington. By hitting, I see Gibbs. Meaning...it's anyones game.
  6. Seen em all play: 1. Goodpasture (Scoring Machine) 2. Creekwood (Has beat Gibbs and Chatt Central I think) 3. Gibbs 4. Chatt Central 5. Sequatchie County 6. Unicoi County 7. Lewis County 8 Lexington 9. Livingston 10.Meigs

    Beech Coaches

Hold it, Mr. KnowEverything said a FORMER Coach who is a female who now coaches in District 9 AAA and does not coach in their (Beech) county ????? That would NOT be the Mt. Juliet Coach cuz she ain't former !!! Is their an assistant coach or a person at MJ that has been to the dance in the past? Or, at Wilson Central for that matter cause they are the only two that are not in the county in 9 AAA I think?!?! And, it has to be a female. Dang, I am stumped unless they have an assistant coach or a teacher at one of those schools who USED to coach and has been to the dance before.

    Beech Coaches

SHE is in their district currently? This should not be hard to figure it out? Are there any other schools flipping coaches next season? Hey, this could be Coaching Jeopardy ! My first Jeopardy answer is: Since it is a "she" in the district that eliminates Hendersonville and Station Camp for sure I think. If they have been to the dance before, this tid-bit eliminates Portland, Gallatin, Lebanon and Wilson Central, I think (Not sure how long their coaches have been there). That only leaves Mt. Juliet. Answer: "Who is the Mt. Juliet Coach" ?

    Beech Coaches

We played in tournament with Beech this past weekend. Love the program but Hate to play em the past few years. I spoke with two parents separately and they said basically the same thing. Inexperience. They went on to say that the Head Coach was not the primary issue but it was his job to control assistants and the language that is used on the field and in the dug out as well as how they dealt with players. It must have been some serious language issues. I found this interesting in that none of the coaches had any high school coaching experience. Well Beech, you got what you paid for.
  10. That cannot happen because I was told that she has played in every JV game this season at Beech. She could move her residence 20+ miles into another zone and be eligible I am told. But, other than that she would be ineligible anywhere else. Bummer for her if she wants to leave. Seeing what has happened recently at Beech, I would think she would not want to go anywhere. And...she is a tremendous athlete for sure.
  11. Let me assure you that 5-4 in an extra inning game with an average team is something...but it is not a "drill". You should have said "They squeaked by an average Ryan team in xtra innings by the score of 5-4.
  12. MrNiceGuy, I think that the previous post was based on the fact that that Clifford Kirk has been to the State so many times that it is rare when his team is not there. He is not retiring. It was somewhat confusing the way it was written, however, regarding his not being there added to a exciting element to the tournament. It is assured that the State Tournament is exciting no matter who is there...or not there.
  13. Let me explain what I do know having travelled this State all year looking at players. The "expert" is confusing winning picks with that of being an expert. Anyone who has an ounce of knowledge realizes that even experts do not pick them all correctly. However, experts "do" have a basis for making decisions, analyzes the teams that are paired together and knows their track record from "first hand" knowledge. They do not summarize a schedule and use that in their "expert" knowledge. Fact, Goodpasture did NOT play Station Camp on the day in question. Fact, based on their track record Goodpasture IS the pick to win the AA even though it is noted that they will have to play their best to get there. Fact, they could be challenged by several teams since these teams do have formidable pitching. And, an expert realizes that pitching can be the great equalizer against potent offensive teams like Goodpasture. It should be noted that a freshman from White House had them on their knee's in district play. But, like great teams they found a way to win. Fact, an expert that analyzes games make clear picks and does not talk about the "east" or the "west". They just lay out their predictions and let the chips fall where they may. The closest thing I have seen to a person that analyzes teams and match-ups and backs up the reasoning behind his predictions is this "STLBRD" individual. Even though I do not agree on a few of his predictions, he is not vague and makes clear selections. Therefore, with an extensive background on this exact area at higher levels of athletic endeavors, I would submit that each person on this thread pick the finishing order of the AA State from 1 to 8. Then, you can see everyone's "predictions" and you can lay aside the vague expert analysis. But these predictions will not get you any closer to being an "expert" I assure you.
  14. With many games being re-scheduled, I think it would be great if we all knew who was still in and who is not, and, what the status is of each district. With the regions coming up on Monday, this would be a good opportunity to give an assessment of each district so we can begin to see the regional match-ups. Thanks.
  15. Let me tell you my friend, stlbrd, I feel you are correct in your assessment of Beech. As I travel the state I see many teams top-loaded meaning "seniors". There are several Mid-State teams who do not fall into this category but Beech stands out. In looking at District 9 this season, none of the teams seemed to be loaded with seniors. For example, Wilson Central has Greenwood and Hendersonville has Drake. They had other seniors but these two stand out for obvious reasons. They are both seniors and are the premier players on their respective teams. When you analyze Beech it is an entirely different landscape. From their press guide, they lose a left fielder, a right fielder and a very athletic girl that plays 2nd. That's it. In viewing a number of their games it has been displayed that they have played a lot of players this year and their freshman class has a number of players just waiting to step in a fill the shoes of the departing seniors. "Will they be better"...we will have to wait and see. "Should they be better"...absolutely !
