  1. Maybe he will bring someone who can coach pass defense. I have a lot of respect for Coach Counce, but never really saw much pass defense during his years here.
  2. Is it the asst. coach at DMS? Would be an excellent hire.
  3. Any truth to the rumor that they've hired the coach at Camden?
  4. Guess I sounded a little sarcastic---sorry about that. Mann ran about every way possible that night. He is (by far) the best back our defense has faced this year. Was sickening to see him get hurt so near the end of the game. Haven't heard anything since, but it looked bad. Hope he is recovering or rehabbing well. Wish him the best of luck.
  5. Legend, I guess I watched the game from the stands like you, unless you were one of the "coaches" that sat on the Manassas bench and occasionally frowned, waved thir arms, and tried to act like they knew what they were doing. I saw a bunch of perimeter gunners that pushed the ball down the floor as fast as possible and tried to see which one could get a shot off first. Buckner appeared to understand that if he wanted to touch the ball , he would have to do it himself by getting offensive rebounds. Just more of the Mempho street ball. I think the reason you thought they were doing fine, you had on a big pair of those real dark "shades" that all of you Mempho DUDES wear, even when you go to bed.LOL!
  6. Don't think UC will have any problem with Middleton. Young team that will have trouble getting the ball upcourt against the UC pressure. Manassas is loaded with talent, but they're very undisciplined in shot selection. Their perimeter players appear to have never met a shot that they don't like( 3 pointers, long two pointers, you name it). Buckner is a real talent, but is totally misused. There were numerous times throughout the game last night when the Manassas offense would come down the floor as many as 4-5 times in a row and Buckner would never touch the ball. Granted, he was double-teamed a lot --but I never saw an attempt to set pick to free him up for a shot down low. No patience, just fire up a perimeter shot after one pass, or at the very most two. He is too good a player to be used as a rebounder only. I was impressed with his demeanor--never seemed to get upset at the like of touches. Probably a lot of fish to fry before a possible Manassas/UC matchup, but if it happens I think UC will win by 10 or more IMO.
  7. That's a good assessment of both kids. Mclin is a lesser shooting threat. Can't consistantly knock down the jump shot from 8 feet on out. Jumps well--runs the floor well, just needs to improve the shooting to be a higher level recruit.
  8. Thanks. After reading a bunch of my previous posts on here, and looking at things in a different perspective, I feel that it's imperative that I expand my apologies to anyone that I have offended on here, especially adsmom86. I have made a lot of posts on here that have been not only personal, but tasteless. In the future I'm going to try to keep any post I make well within the guidelines of conduct that I know is acceptable on this forum.
  9. Hey Yankees 8589, after reading the first part of your post, I have lost all interest in talking basketball with you. Instead I would like to ask you to accept my apology for the stupid, inconsiderate things I said to you in my post. Any man that has two sons serving in the military deserves all the respect that I can possibly give you. If your invitation still stands this summer when your son gets home from Iraq, I would consider it an honor to meet him. I would like to shake his hand and thank him for the sacrifices he's made serving our great country. May God be with you during this time and may He watch over your sons and keep them safe.
  10. If basketball losses results in investing in new teeth, you have probably gone through a fortune if you've been a DC fan very long. Do yourself a favor and research DC boys basketball for the past 30+ years and see how few years DC has given it "on the chin " to DHS or any other team in the district. Outside of the Fisk,Powell team and the current team for the last couple of years, you know that you've had very little to celebrate. This year's team has the potential to go a long way in tournament play; maybe all the way. I've read positive posts on here about young players coming up, but I don't think DC will have a team any time soon that will compare with the talent level on this current team. Enjoy--savor every minute of ever game; reality may be lurking just over the horizon.
  11. I don't think anyone ever mentioned the above team in any derogatory way. There was a huge glut of talent that came through the system at that time. There was more talent at DC at that time than any school in the district, including DHS. I don'agree with your statement that Jon Morris was "recruited from Trimble". DC was the school that he was supposed to attend. You seem to be up on Donkey Stompins so you probably (with the exception of the year(s)of the team above)remember all the Donkey Stompins that not only DHS, but almost every team in the district laid on DC regularly, year in and year out. Except for the team above and the current team I don't remember DC ever having anything to brag about in boys basketball. There have been some good DC girls teams, but never boys. And not to lessen the "bus incident" what difference did it make about whose cousin rode. Three other DMS students were asked to ride also. What's ironic is that the kid ended up getting in trouble and never even played at DC. I know there's a lot of resentment when this is brought up now, but DC suffered the results of the deliberate action of a unethical, dishonest man. Enjoy the memories of the Brian Fisk, etc. team and the success of the current team. There's lots of basketball to be played yet--and I personally feel that DC has a great chance to return to the Boro this year.
  12. You're right volman--if DB could have played other teams in the district as focused as they played the two DC games, overall record would be much better. I think DC just has too much firepower for any team in 13AA. Barring something crazy(like DB game vs. GC last year--not going to happen) I think DC will breeze through to sub-state. Think they'll host sub---that could possibly be a very entertaining game(similar to last year). That will one of the toughest tickets in the state.
  13. I can imagine how thrilled you are that Walmart got your replacements in quickly. It's amazing they were able to machine them so that they fit in around that one big yellow one that had started to get lonesome. Don't blame the Dyersburg school system because of me; they don't want anything to do with me either--just can't figure that one. As for as travel--think I've seen about everything I care to across the U.S. Think I may come up and look around Newbern. Thinking about buying a home up there somewhere. Like to watch good high school basketball. Can you assure that you will continue to get enough good players in to maintain the standard that's been set the last couple of years? If so,I'm there! Can I expect to get the same hospitable treatment that you extend to transfers? If "YES" I'm there for sure. Be careful how you answer my questions or this might be my last post on here. I do have sensitive feelings, you know.
  14. DC thread---NOT. Thread about DC---YUP. I haven't asked what thread I can post on and be assured I won't start because of this post. Why don't you practice what you preach--You posted more than once on Dyersburg's New Head Coach. Was that a DHS thread--NO. you're free to post anywhere you like. Thanks for your expert opinion on how "dramatically" mine have changed. If they don't meet your approval--don't read/respond to them. By the way---How's the tooth?
  15. I don't remember aiming any post(s) in your direction,so why don't you get up from the table, jog in place for a couple of seconds and get your panties out of that wad. Relax--have another doughnut.
