  2. Union County High School is seeking a varsity football head coach. The next UC head coach needs to be experienced, be innovative offencively, be able to evaluate talent, and have a strong desire to win. Does not have to work at the school or school system. Possible jobs may be available with school. Contact Union Co. High School Athletic Director John Edds at (865) 992-2570.
  3. It will be interesting to see how everything works out. Grace will win and I think they are a threat to win state if they don't get bit by the injury bug.
  4. Who will be the coach next year? Maybe Coach McBrayer?
  5. I hate to admit it, but I think Grainger will win easily in Maynardville. UC has Vandergriff and Buck at running back, and they are VERY GOOD, but they have no O line. UC will be starting a FR QB, and he does not have a very good arm. If UC throws the ball, Grainger will have opportun ities for some pics. If Grainger lays some good hit on the QB, there will be turnovers. UC has 2 VERY GOOD WR's, but again, don't have a QB to get it to them, or a line to give him time. UC has a kid that can flat out throw the ball, but he will not play at QB, thanks to our wonderful coaches. Grainger 14-0
  6. Who wins between Union Co. (1-4) at Pigeon Forge(0-5)?
  7. UCHS (a 3A school) 20 (1-4) Greeback (a 1A school) 34 (5-0) UCHS had 31 rushs for 196 yds (Corey Buck had 188 yds rushing 2 TDs) 0-5 in the passig game with 1 int Buck had 100 yd kick return for a TD They quit keeping up with the penilties because of to many (unsportsmanship) with 1 player ejected that should not have been. Greeback had 36 rushes for 209 yds 21-40 in the passing game for 300 yds Greenbacks QB played very well. Their WR's were impressive as well. GB showed alot of class after the game as well. Congrats to Greeback. The UC coaches have got to go!
  8. Unfortunately, I have to agree. UC has some really good players, and at least 4 or 5 will be playing college football next fall. With that said, UC has no O line, and most are of the opinion to start playing some younger O lineman, they can't be any worst. UC can't run between the tackles, and with the QB they are playing, Greenback's defence can score on picks alone, if their DB's can catch the ball. UC has a very good defence, although a number of players are hurt. UC has 2 of the best RB's in East Tennessee, and if they can get a little daylight, they can take it to the house anytime they get the ball. UC also has 2 WR's that are as good as any around, and better than most, but UC can't get the ball to them. The UC kicking game will likely play a factor in the game, as this is an area that desperately needs improving on. GB will have oportunities to make plays, and if they are able to take advantage of them, I think GB will win. UC can have an easy win, if they: 1) Change their offensive phylosiphy, spread offence and shotgun, quick short passing (Slants) 2) Make a number of offensive personal changes, QB and O line 3) Make a couple of personal changes in the Kick off and xtra point game The wonderful UC coaching staff will not do this though.
  9. I am pretty sure it will not be UC. I heard maybe Grainger Co. or a privite school.
  10. Union Co. had 43 yds rushing, and 26 yds passing with 3 pics. Claiborne Co. had a total of 158 yds offence. Claiborne's offence did not do alot. UC has NO Oline and needs to start playing some of the Fr. as they will do a better job than some of the Sr. When I said that the kids have worked so hard and deserve better than they have got, I mean coaching. The JV is undefeated. I am sure if things don't change, when these players are Jr. and Sr. they will be out coached and out politiced. UC has 2 of the best tailbacks anywhere, as well as 2 WR's that are as good or better than anyone, and all 4 will be playing college ball next fall. Unfortunately, UC has 2 So. QB's and Claiborne saw which one was the teachers kid (and favorite of the school's principle). The other kid started the season and played very well and then the politics kicked in, and that was the end of him. He has a cannon for an arm, and does not turn the ball over. After opening week, he was not even allowed to take any snaps. Many of the players have went to the coaching staff over this, but to no avail. This kid will probable play college football at QB, and I am sure will be playing somewhere else next season. I was told that his dad is looking to move him to another school. I could understand if the kid played bad, or got into trouble or something, but that was not the case at all. Unfortunately, in UC, if you do not play or sit who the principle wants, you job is gone. I have heard this many times from teachers and past coaches. It would also help if UC actually had an offensive cordinator that knew offence. It really stinks seeing the head coach, co head coach, and the offensive cordinator aurgueing at half time each week. Wonder why every year, usually one or two of the top incoming Fr. go somewhere else to play. Example, the McCoy kid that is starting at full back at Anderson Co. His dad would not let him play for UC. Smart man. 1) Seymour 2) Carter 3) Grainger 4) Claiborne 5) Gibbs 6) Pigeon Forge 7) Union Co.
  11. I have all the faith in the world that Union Co. will be dead last. Its a joke! Many of the kids have worked so hard, and they sure don't deserve what they are getting. Sadly, UC should be at least 3-1 if not 4-0, but politics and favorites rule in Maynardville. Sad!
