  1. I dont understand why in this state we have MANY MORE schools that play basketball than football, but there are two additional classifications for football. I think with the number of schools in the state that 5 Championships would good. Give more teams (more kids) the opportunity to have the experience. I think any more than 5 may be a bit much. Arkansas has 7 classes and nowhere near the number of schools here in TN. The top class only has 16 teams so you only have to be the best out of 16 teams in teh state to win a State Title.... its a joke!!!!!!!!
  2. Saw on the TSSAA website where every coach at AE in every sport is being replaced at the end of the year. Anybody know whats going on or is this just a big hoax.
  3. Here we go with some more mess. First of all let me say you need to watch you tone concerning me and my job/ performance. Has any coach been successful in male sports here? NO! I was very successful in my three years b/f coming here for your information. The coach here preceeding myself had 7 losing seasons and no regional appearances... What has he done since leaving? Won a state championship last year and was runner-up this season. And by the way the had the Humboldt team down 20 in one half at our Jamboree last year. Don't be so quick to judge what you know NOTHING about. What team do you coach???? Or are you just another typical spectator that thinks they know more about it than the people actually doing it? Oh wait, you probably coach your little boy's 3rd grade team at the YMCA huh? As for the "rumor" (which anything falling after the words "i heard from a frined" would be classified as)... people need to quit running off at the mouth. I said that I had hear Coach Boykins MAY retire and if he does I WOULD LIKE TO GO TO HUMBOLDT (who wouldnt?) and that I thought I may have a realistic chance to get it. I, like everybody else don't know if Coach Boykins is in fact leaving or not! westtennsports: You're obviously an idiot being that you would post such a strong opinion laced with uncalled for sarcasm about a RUMOUR. Didnt your mommy ever tell you how rumours usually worked? Why dont you come take this job and lets all see how great you are. Hey, after all it'll be a step up in pay from your boy's 3rd grad "Y" team! lol
  4. Havent read all the way through so I don't know if what I'm about to say has already been stated. They probably don't do it immediately with the boys because the girls can only get three days (due to how their timing is set up) and they dont want there to be any advantages to the boy's teams that the girls don't have. Thats the only legit reason that I can see and understand. This way it gives boys and girls the same amount of time to prepare for the first round games.
  5. ... wow, i should have proof read that before i posted it. Butchered a couple of lines. loll
  6. Well with your poor grammatical skills and obvious ignorance its certian that you are a graduate of the fabulous Memphis City Schools system. (if you're too stupid to figure it out I was being sarcastic) Secondly the comment about not posting or responding if Manassas losses is no surprise to most on here b/c I'm sure we could ALL tell you are just a typical arrogant loser that has nothing better and a coward that hides not only behind someone else's success but a computer chat room. So anyway, good luck to the PLAYERS of Manassas but to all the others still competing. See "legend," that's how you show a little bit of class! But then again, what difference does it make... arguing with an IDIOT is like like trying to drink sand. It just doesnt work!!!!
  7. At least those young men were playing and trying to win. all you are doing is riding the coattails of another team by posting on Coach T 20 times a day. I bet you never even played basketball did you? Its obvious from the zeal and ferver (with your ignorance I should probably have used easier words for you to understand... look em up!) of how you speak of that team you are probably some poor guy with no life outside of what a group of people (who probably wouldn't know who you are if you sat on the bench with them) do with their team. Now, with that being said I'm sure Mannasas could beat UC or Humboldt by a good margin just as they could get beat by the same sizeable margin, especially by UC. There is nothing wrong with supporting your team but a touch of humility and objectivity would be nice. Do not get on here bashing other teams of young men that are just trying to compete b/c you are such an ###### that it makes you feel better about being such a pathetic failure at whatever it is you do or tried to do! ... oh yeah, one more point. Mannassas had how many kids transfer in from the school that shut down in Memphis that went to state last year??? UC is all homegrown. Let UC get a few of the best kids from this area move transfer in and there would be NO discussion what-so-ever as to who would be better!
  8. the first paragraph in my last response isn't mine. i tried to quote only a part of someone else's comment and apparently don't know what I'm doing. lol. Didn't want any confusion if it looked like I was contradicting myself.
  9. Don't give me the 'chasing the scholarship' routine. Anybody with a B average can get a scholarship. If a kid is gifted enough athletically and has the desire and ability, colleges will find him. If you could 'make' a college athlete, everybody would be buying the formula from somebody. Really this has more to do with egos than anything else. I will only speak on this as it regards the sport of basketball as I do not know enough about other sports effected to comment on in great detail. Lets be real. There are soooooo many refined skills associated with a college level basketball player that simply being a great athlete will not get you into a college. Great pure ATHLETES can play football (run, tackle, whatever) but I've seen an untold amount of D1 college football players that can't dribble a ball more than two or three bounces (just dribble unguarded up the floor) or even come close to being able to shoot on a Jr. High level. Since being here at my current school I have had 2 players that as freshmen were HORRIBLE (no offense to them but facts are facts) but b/c of the work we put in and the commitment they had they made HUUUUUUUUUGE improvements. Both were/are naturally athletic and that helped, but it is the SKILL that determines who can go to the next level. Are there exceptions... yes. There are those FREAKISH athletes that are taken on as projects, but that doesn't apply to 98% of our athletes (especially in rural areas). The only way these small West TN schools have generally been able to compete with the undeniably more athletic schools in Memphis, Nashville, Murprheesboro, Chat, etc is through great commitment and skill development which take TIME... time the TSSAA has taken away. The new rules have crippled us ("professional coaches/ teachers of the game) from taking an average player to a higher level. If a kid doesn't want to be great he doesn't have to be. Kids are forced to go to school, they are not however forced to play sports. We need to quit teaching our young men and women that they deserved to play even though they arent willing to commit and sacrifice the time and energy to do so. Life is hard and unfair. This world is based on hard, often ruthless competition. Sports is a great way to toughen up our young people and give those willing to try an edge in real LIFE. Our NATION as a whole is declining b/c we have lost our drive for greatness and our realization that nothing really good, really valuable, really important comes easy. We have become a society of I want it all without doing more that I absolutely have to do. While we are missing close to 3 months (in basketball) of on the floor instruction and skill development here in TN that same level of kid in Arkansas or Alabama, etc. is working. Take a freshman coming in to high school. he will miss almost an entire years worth of professional instruction by the time he/she is a senior here in TN. Now, who do you think is going to get that scholarship by their senior year????????? Do the kids need time off... YES!!! But this much... NO! And open gym is a joke! If they are going to be there why not allow them to actually get in good, focused work instead of what usually is a lot of horseplay.
  10. what you guys have to remember about scheduling this tournament for NEXT year is this. 3 of the main teams you have listed that you'd love to see play wont be near the same next year. UC losing Brown and however many other vital seniors... DC losing everyone but CJ, Peirce, and the guy that moved in from FL. Trenton losing EVERYBODY really important. Humboldt will still be good but they are losing 5 KEY seniors including both point guards, epperson, and wade! You also have to remember that several of these teams play each other already (bolivar/liberty, UC/Humboldt/Lake Co/Trenton, Liberty/DC). Itd be fun for us but how beneficial would it be for the teams when they can go out of state and play great comp? all that being said I say I would be more than happy to host it here at GCHS (very nice central location for teams mentioned). we could use a huge moneymaker around here!!!!!!!!!!!! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  11. What my friend is "T9"? Problems as far as support and such I will not discuss on a forum such as this. Its not apporpriate. But, my issues are not with the fans. They have been consistant in all my years here. I forgot to make the comment in closing that I will not continue to post on here. Thus the reason for the long first posting! Just really tried to figure out what you were asking and could'nt so I had to post one more to get clarification. After this you guys enjoy CoachT and post what you would like.
  12. OK, from the username it should be obvious as to who this is. I probably shouldn't reply or make any comments on here but then again why not... its a free country. First of all I don't think "ballplayer" should have started this post being that it could cause problems that would FURTHER interfere with the ability of our team to get better. Am I upset though? NO. I make comments to people that ask about issues and would tell anyone that ask the same that I've told others. I'm not a politician... I don' tell people what they want to hear. I tell the truth about things based on what I honestly feel. Secondly, you would really have to be a self-absorbed idiot to think I would lose on purpose! I mean come on! How would that benefit anyone involved? Doesn't help the kids.... doesn't make me look good (for this job or another down the road)... doesn't help the program, etc. Thirdly, if some of you REALLY pay attention to the games and know the players abilities and TENDANCIES like i do (b/c i see em EVERY DAY not just one or two games) then you would notice that Ham usually is taken out when he starts to miss a couple of shots b/c something called FATIGUE sets in a bit and i don't want him continuing to miss which would then get him out of the zone and frustrated. I have several kids that are good shooters. I don't use Ham (Hudson) to pick on but that is the main reference two or three of you have refered to in your "arguments." Fourthly, at what point did you see the word FAN(s) in ballplayer's original statement? I have never said I/we don't have equal fan support. From everything I've been told about before I arrived the fan support for the boys has been much larger. So please, make sure you don't open up a can of worms through your flawed interpretation at best or at worst through your ignorance! And you must really be stretching for something to bring up my dogs... which are well trained and have not been up here at a practice for about two years. Nice try though! As far as this summer goes concerning the direction of this TEAM and it's play it has nothing to do with it and needs to be dropped! These types of issues are ones that I have to and will deal with at the appropriate time. Fifthly, talent is not the issue with our losing this year. All the talent in the world is pointless unless you have the heart, passion, and desire to use it at every moment. This has been a key issue with us along with Free-throws, and turnovers. We are working hard to resolve all of these issues to make sure that they are fixed by district. tournament time. Sixthly, at the school I came from I coached Freshman being that the schools was so large 9th graders did not play varsity sports so we had our own 12 team conference in which we played approximantely 30 games per year. In three years I lost 9 (or 10) games. We played for our Conference Championship all three years winning it twice! I had to coach football as well and never got more than one week of practice with my basketball team b/f the season and we were still very successful. (I must say that I am not bragging just answering the question that was posed by one of the users here) Finally, if you don't think I "coach" my team you should come by a practice or two. Watch the Defensive and offensive drills. Watch the team "D" and "O" strategic planning in regards to the team we are facing and how we will handle what it is they will try to do to us. We have to begin to find a way to stay focused after the half and come out just as intense as when we went into the locker room. I feel almost embarrassed that I have spent the ten minutes on this that it took, but I felt that it was necessary to answer a few comments and concerns. I love my young men and can honestly say that the parents have done a great job and that they will be successful after graduation. Obviously nobody is perfect as we all have our flaws. As we all know everything doesn't come easy or as expected but the ones that learn from challenges truly do get stronger and better. Sounds like a bunch of sappy yah-yah, but hey, its true. LOL. Thanks for the support and compliments and just keep an eye out come tournament time! We are not the Titanic and we will not sink under a vail of panic, turmoil, and fear! THANKS
