like i've said numerous times... i could be wrong and I would not be the least surprised if DC won but i do think NS will win. Just my opinion though.

I am a coach in West TN. I know the problem could have been confusion on HOW TO VOTE! The way our district usually did it was the 15th player was who we felt was the BEST PLAYER.... in other words they totaled up the points (what ever place you were listed equaled the points you get) and whoever got the most points was MVP. We have had more than one coach get really confused over that b/c you naturally tend to think as you look at the list to write the best player by the # 1 as if ranked like in a poll. I dont know any of the coaches personally in your area but that is a very realistic probability.... maybe.

OMG... we are not agreeing to disagree but actually agreeing /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> .... that line about Walker being HIGHLY underrated is dead on true... kid can play! I say this way: DC over Haywood NS over Milan NS over DC ---- Cov over OC WV over FW (barely) Cov over WV NS vs COV for the regional Tourney with NS pulling it out in a 2-5 point win! * there are so many ways to be wrong about this bracket!

ok... not sure of the days and times and what not but here are the pairings: 1. DC vs. 4. Haywood: DC won the first game at DC by 40+ but just squeaked out a 1 point win at Haywood the second meeting. Haywood has been playing better but this game will be back at DC. 2. NS vs. 3. Milan: Prather and company will be just too overwhelming at home against Milan and really upset after losing the District Championship to Covington. However, if Milan plays a borderline perfect game and gets those one or two key breaks they do have an outside chance albeit very slim ---------------------------- 1. Covington vs. 4. Obion: Dont think OC will be able to pull this one out, especially on the road. Covington by at least 15. 2. Westview vs. 3. Fayette Ware: This is pretty much a toss up here. FW will be more athletically and size superior all around but WV has the home court advantage and can shoot lights out at times. I'll say its a 50/50 toss up being that i've only seen WV in person once and FW no times this year. Semis and Finals will be at GCHS but first round is at the home of the higher seeded team! Correct me if I'm wrong on this but thats how its been the past few years.

I love pressure and actually planned on being a lawyer until i decided coaching would be more fun and rewarding. Trust me, I wouldnt break under pressure in any "real world" situation. As for the moral thing, thats kind of the whole reason we are in this mess.... greedy a*#, no moral having, being the richest, biggest, best, always winning people just kept pushing and pushing until the economy finally broke screwing millions (actually billions b/c as the US econ goes so goes the world)!!! I do understand completely your argument and I'm sure you understand mine both using the same comparisons. I would venture to say a big reason is a chance to play. With new kids coming in to DC it takes the spots away from the "native" DC players so many would rather play then sit the bench for two or three years on a winning team; I know i'd rather play than sit no matter the case! adsmom: since you have been very defensive about a few of my recent posts let me clarify to you: please dont take this as me saying the "R" word when refering to the new kids coming in for DC. I am in no way implying that, but the fact is they are getting a lot of NEW kids that were not from their district. True or False? Once again.... for everyone.... I AM NOT IMPLYING THEY ARE/WERE RECRUITED BUT THE FACTS ARE UNDENIABLE THAT THEY ARE NEW! Cant speak for everyone, but I am certainly not attacking DCs players or coaching staff... just the way SOME of your fans act.

Technically its an upset b/c NS won twice before... realistically no its not b/c Covington is very good. jhvol: i wouldnt say they have shooterS in the plural sense... really only one consistant 3pt threat with several decent midrange jump shooters. yankee: you're right but i think you slightly misunderstood my statement. i didnt mean quality as in really great... just decent basketball skill with good athleticism through the 8-10 spot... 9-12 spot only used if they get in foul trouble and they will not hurt you skill wise at all but can grab a rebound or get a steal.... those athletic hustle plays.

the way you vote is you have 1 -15 and you place the names of the kids on a list with 15 being the best and 1 being the lowest (what ever place equals how many points you recieve).... Whoever gets the most total points is MVP. So you had no choice but to place blake and johnson on the list... the question is where on the list and NOBODY can deny that they were the top 2 players... PERIOD! but as stated b/f the two coaches canceled each other out by trying to use strategy instead of just listing the best players. once again... the comment about DC fans are classless and useless as a generalization is very wrong and disrespectfull to the ones that are good, true, enthusiastic yet sensible fans and people! I HATE generalizations about vast groups of people because those are the same trains of thought that leads to racism and sexism and such!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! excellent point Mr Van Dame /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> .... the only way Johnson (who should have won it in my opinion) or Blake (if not the best then certainly the second best that year) didn't win is if the DC coach put Ron Johnson towards the bottom and the CC coach did the same with Justin Blake... that's the only way that Hunt could have been at the2, 3, or 4 spot on all of the rest of the ballots and ended up as the #1 vote getter! NO OTHER WAY... so, DC fans upset at things this years outcome... your coaching staff didn't put Johnson as 2nd or even 3rd or even 4th when he at WORST was second... so see how when you don't have all the info you could be the kettle calling your own group of pots black! Now, i do understand the reasoning behind both coaches action... trying to ensure that their player would win district MVP. Point is coaches (ALL COACHES) don't just vote purely on who is the best for WHATEVER reason.

Ok, its obvious the main point of my argument was missed..... YES, we all know people EVERYWHERE go to support winning teams.... my point is that I have rarely if ever seen more people be as hypocritical about they're loyalty and support of a SCHOOL (not just a single solitary team) in my life (and i've been around sport as a coaches son when they were state champs and when they struggled, player much like CJs case struggling early and being very sucessful later, coach of great teams and bad ones, and a fan)! !! Don't come on here or be out in public professing your love for your school and crying about how others treat your players unfairly by a vote but then you treat groups of YOUR OWN PLAYERS even more unfairly by ignoring them! Thats the basis of what i'm saying... in fact I'm defending a large group of DC people.... the lady choctaws (so once again dont call me a DC hater). I have not once accused DC of wrongdoing or even implied it! I have not once said those young men dont deserve every bit of success they are enjoying!! I have not once said one negative thing on here about McCord!! ... you see Mr. Yankee, and others, I'm for ALL KIDS that work hard and give their best... not just the ones that put Ws in the record books! We as adults really tend to focus too much on just winning and not LIFE! Prime example: How many of the 4 DC seniors from last year that went on to play on a college are "academically lacking" and either could not play or had to be removed at semester for grades? All four I do believe! So what does that say about how far just winning basketball games in high school will get you? And to tie it all together let me use this analogy: The "fair weather fan" mentality will lead to a kid who played and if he grows up without a REAL plan and ends up back in Dbrug/Newburn or "anytown USA" with no degree or whatever.... since they are not "winning in life" the same way they were a few years back will the great fan base that loves(ed) them so much then go and buy them clothes, feed them, give them decent paying jobs? NOOOOOOOOOO. Does that analogy make sense to all of you intelligent enough to understand it? We need to teach the kids VALUES in all areas of life and I feel that we as a society are failing miserably and the actions of last night are a glowing example!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I truly wish these young men well and that they get back on track b/c from my experiences with them they are good kids and have the potential to be successful as adults. Ok, lets not use this "i was/ have been".... this entire debate/ arguement/ discussion has pretty much been either criticizing or defendig OTHER people so address the question as do you agree or disagree that the "choctaw nation" as a WHOLE are not the great supporters of all things choctaw as many would have you believe. And before somebody says its irrelevant, no its not b/c it has in one way or another been brought up numerous times on this thread alone. AND before anybody thinks i'm singling out just DC.... yes, people everywhere are full of BS and are at the core a bunch of bandwagoners..... every program, every sport, every level..... problem is the hypocrisy that is very rampant in this case that i've seen countless times through actions/comments. Case in point.... Gib. Co. fans are bandwagoner supreme for the girls but you dont see them going apecrazy on the girls board saying how great they are as fans and how they are always there and on and on and on...... 11 isnt the PG... he is the other tall lanky kid. If i'm not mistaken the PG is #3. Here is the rundown: 1. You wont stop Prather: if he only has 12 its not b/c he got SHUTDOWN! He usually stays out of foul trouble and will control the boards against anybody from 13AA. 2. Long is probably their second best overall player and certianly their main 3Pt weapon. 3. The PG is very solid and crucial to them handling the pressure (IF they play DC). 4. They run a pretty tough press themselves and I have seen them turn on the pressure and put a game away a few times this year. 5. They will go about 10-12 deep although the last 2 or 3 are a big drop off SKILL wise but are still athletic enough to cause problems. IF.... and this is IIIIIIFFFFFF Dyer Co. plays NS i feel that NorthSide will win by about 10. I feel that they will just be too much athletically especially with the one player DC will have no answer for. However, if DC can harass Prather enough he does tend to try to do too much at times and force the issue out of frustration or a feeling like he MUST do it all or they will lose. Dont let Long get good looks and get hot. REBOUND. Keep CJ and REX out of foul trouble, keep Janes out of foul trouble and if he does a good boxing Prather out, and have Hudson hit a few threes and you'll be in a good position to win the game late in the game. The track record for DC is if its close late... they most always will pull it out.

The only real difference btw 2AA and 3AA in memphis is that the 3AA memphis teams are usually much more well coached. The guy at BTW for instance just plain got WAAAAY outcoached by McCord the past two years! The triple A schools are better in this aspect!

Last line of the comment: BINGO... all you great DC fans.... why no support for your GIRLS?????????????? Somebody answer that... dont deflect and go on about something else. Where was all the support for the program CJ's freshman year and the year before??? I only ask b/c i've seen more than one poster talk about how GREAT the DC fans are? You talk about how bad it is not voting kids on all district teams and not supporting kids..... but ummm.... how bad is it for your girls to see nobody there for them, to support them and all the hard work they do? Now before somebody says i'm just jumping on the DC hate wagon, NO. I have been on my unequal support soapbox against the GC fans (flip flopped) and other in the past. So, lets just face it, just like you all are saying that just like everywhere people hate the ones on the top, the same goes for your "great fans" as everywhere else.... when you dont win they dont give a crap about you and when you do win they all are the best fans ever and have always been... they just had to work the night shift back then so they could'nt come. As for who got more players on all this or that.... i know it used to be that the #1 team had more spots than the others... kind of a guarantee. I personally dont know about the regular season list b/c I didnt see enough games but I can say i think Hudson should have been on the All Tourney team just from what I saw. What most of you dont know is they post the current/updated stats of the players in the hospitality room so maybe his stats were not as good as it seemed... The smart plays and hustle plays often are not thought of (wrongly so) in many of these decisions. I sincerely hope he was left of b/c of issues outside of his play/ contribution ON THE FLOOR!

Like I said, its what you do with what you have! OK, DC lost 80%.... which i believe is not correct b/c Rex did a lot of scoring last year and CJ did score also, and Taylor and Kimble were defenders, rebounders, and trash point type guys... not big offensive weapons. Parr did score a good amount. Secondly, Dyersburg LOST EVERYTHING... LIKE LITERALLY 99% and competeted very well this year. Most, if not all of us expected them to get BLOWN OUT most every game. Like I said, If you lose a lot but then return a lot that is better than what other teams have then its really not a valid argument. Remember the Vols won their national championship after the almighty saviour Peyton Manning and a few others graduated... could it be because they had a good college QB and a lot of other great talent coming back!!!!!!!!!! Liberty won thier first State Title after the Twins (not the Longs but the other two) that started for three years and were the main post players graduated. Its not what you lost but what you have replacing thats importatn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally, for the second time, I'm not saying Coach McCord doesnt deserve Coach of the Year. The point is that just because he didnt get it doesnt mean someone else doesnt deserve it. As someone else said, it is too often a popularity contest. I know some of you are too stuck in your train of thought to understand but oh well. Good luck to all the teams involved in region 7AA.
