  1. i'm pretty sure it WAS chism's house but i'll look it up on the archives if its possible and see or just call somebody that would know for sure.
  2. oh, well as a player there is no doubt he is a futre D1 prospect. Size, can shoot very well to be a freshman with that size, will do the little things... took 3 charges in a row at haywood... and will definately put in the work. as for the Chism thing I think the thing that was lost in that is that his house burned and as noted in the Jackson Sun the Bolivar Basketbal team gave he and his mother i believe it was $500 dollars.... very nice gesture but i think (at least talking with all those parties involved on the short end of the stick) look at that kinda suspiciously. But anyway... i'm gonna be done with this particular issue for a bit.
  3. Ok, dont know if that was specifically directed at me but I in NO WAY HAVE MADE ACCUSATIONS OR CRUCIFIED ANYBODY. SHOW ME ANYWHERE ON HERE AN ACCUSATION OF WRONG DOING I HAVE MADE ABOUT ANY SCHOOL, or COACH!!! like i said i just simply dont understand the rule about it and dont think the rule allowing it is right. period! If that wasnt directed at me and my comments then excuse this reply
  4. but why then would you hold such high positions in that system? thats like being the campaign manager for McCain and voting for Obama!!!!
  5. lol /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> ... seriously that was a funny little sarcastic comment.... GOOD ONE! as for my attitude courtside be careful how you judge coaches without knowing them. Look at your own school for a "sidelene" only judgement and what would you get... keeping in mind perspective is relative? I'm a competative person and yes i get angry when certian things happen over an over again that gets us beat!!! I am a very nice guy that will do anything for my kids but I am mean as *&^% when i play (ed) and just try to get my kids to try and pick up off my energy and emotion. My kids here at Haywood (and we are talking about jr high kids) love it... they get fired up big time.... calm and soft doesnt work with them too much. I can assure you there was no ANGER in my post... i probably shouldnt have used the term "dumbest" and i apollogize to you for that bit of disrespect
  6. you know your sports and i certianly respect your views. yes they are underrated but i just dont feel they'd have enough to hang with the athlete dominated South part of the region! Remember humboldt blew them completely out of the water TWICE and to be honest I think humboldt may be a tad overrated but they are athlete dominant to Milan. Vandiver has no chance nor does anyone of the bulldogs of stopping a Prather, or Nick Barbee from FW and Haywood and Covington arent as big but just too fast and powerfull. But as stated earlier... anything is possible and although I would be slightly surprised if Milan did make it I wouldnt be in complete disbelief or utter stunned amazement.
  7. Let me start off by saying this... both he and his brother are GREAT people... great young men. Also, my decision to leave GC was made WELL BEFORE ANY OF THE TALK ABOUT JOHN THINKING ABOUT GOING TO DC so I have ABSOLUTELY NO GRUDGE OR WHATEVER. Anyone that knows me knows that if i'm nothing else i'm am brutally honest and i simply call em how i see em... guess thats why i'll never be a good politician. Two fold... he was the one i was reffering to from completely outside of the county being allowed to go. I had at least 10 kids from Trenton and Humboldt wanting to come to GC over the past 4 years (believe it or not) but they were not allowed so how can a kid that doesnt even live in the COUNTY much less district be allowed to attend? Im mainly making that arguement from a TSSAA rules point of view. As for the decision there is no doubt DC is the better choice but my whole point. He will definately get more attention from colleges there as I know his brother and others from GC the past few years got NO LOOKS no matter how many calls I made or tapes i sent out... took several to try outs and camps personally. I know his parents did not like how the athletic dept at GC was run from the top and anyone that knows me and my ordeal knows I can surely agree with the Hudsons on that issue. This is also true of a very big family in the GC system of which the mother and father were both principles at two jr highs but chose to send their BOY to USJ b/c "the athletics at GC were not good enough." Not just basketball but all the three major sports. And the funny thing is nobody at the school board or the supt ever said a single thing. GC system was good enuff to pay you two fat salaries but not good enuff for you son????...... sorry, if i had been in charge they'd be gone to USJ with their kid! How is GC ever really going to turn the corner when some of the best athletes and players leave? However I can not fault Mr. and Mrs. Hudson for making the decision to send their kid to what they believe was the best choice for him personally! Its really kind of complicated. THere is no one clear-cut right or wrong answer... its more of a moral/ ethical question for me. I have all the respect in the world for Trey TATE at GC b/c he had a chance to go somewhere else and play for a better baseball team but stayed! He is getting recognition and will play i college and through the down seasons is becoming a more resilient leader and person. Think about it... nobody likes quiters right?????? You hardly ever see people quit when their team is doing great... very rare indeed! But teams that struggle deal with people quiting quite a bit... the ones that dont quit dont have good or strong character. Anybody can be on a winning team... takes real guts to stick it out through the BS... Take CJ Crittendon... I'm sure he could have gone to D-burg as a freshman and joined blake and company (EVERYONE KNOW HOW DOMINATING THEY WERE GOING TO BE) and took the easy road, but i know he is a great kid and a commited young man and went to DC even though he knew they were going to really struggle. As for for the comment by Jackeddie, you need to think about what you say. How in the heck can you compare colleges to high school???? Colleges are SUPPOSED to recruit. WE ARE TALKING ABOUT AMATURE atheletics where the fields are supposed to be as even as possible. I mean that was one of the dumbest comments i've ever heard on here. I can assure you I am not: 1) making disrepectfull comments towards any kid and their decision and 2) my statements are not made for selfish reasons or personal reasons. DOES ANYONE ON HERE NOT UNDERSTAND THE POINTS I'M MAKING? I mean i'm not putting DC or MCCord down at all.... I mean heck, what is he gonna tell a great player that wants to come there "no, no.... dont come?" No!!!!!!! heck I talked with him at the Haywood game for 10 mins or so and told him the EXACT same thing I've said on here about "out of the county being allowed to play", but made it clear that I was not pointing fingers and him or DC or saying he recruits or anything else. Lets keep in mind here that EVERYONE ON HERE KNOWS WHO I AM... i dont hide behind some username and make comments I dont have to be held accountable for b/c nobody knows its me. If i say it on here i'll say it to anyones face! I do my best to make sure I give my honest OBJECTIVE views on things from what i know. I am simply saying that I dont think our kids are TRULY benefiting from just running to the good teams and its our societies fault bc we have really gone away from the real values sports are supposed to teach us... LOYALTY, determination, hard work, humility, courage, resilliance, etc... (and no i'm not saying DC's or anyone elses team that gets a lot of transfers dont work hard or have courage and such so b/f any of you knitpickers get on to fire off on that use your brain first, if it wont cause to big of a headache, and really think about what i 'm saying) Thats much the same as a man leaving his wife of 10 or 20 years and running off with a younger more attractive woman b/c she is better to look at and more fun.... or how about this mr. jackeddie... your woman leaving you for a rich guy b/c he can buy her all the things you cant.... THATS A MUCH BETTER and more parrallel analogy than your little "college" comment. So i guess thats fine then huh? THey have more money, more fun, looks better. GO BACK AND REALLY READ AND THINK ABOUT MY PREVIOUS POST... I can assure you there are no hard feelings in anyway on my side.
  8. i will say this about the whole transferring and recruiting thing and such... the first group of kids from D-burg (black, taylor, parr...) decided to sit out and transfer to DC when DC was not good at all... only 3 wins in each of previous 3 years so you cant say they did it just to be on the better team. As someone stated earlier, Coach Brown was at fault for that one and hence has been DC's best recruiter. However, I do have a problem when kids (often as the vicarious portal for their parents) transfer to a school that is/ has become a powerhouse just b/c they dont want to go to a school that may not be as good. I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND WANTING TO BE A WINNER, but we in society have placed waaaaay too much on just winning and not teaching kids how to make the best out of the situation. I'm not talking about kids moving b/c they are not getting the playing time they DESERVE like the first group of D-burg kids... totally agree with that. I'm talking about kids that would be or already are the main player (s) for their designated/ existing school moving just b/c they are good. How about being the reason a school makes it to greatness instead of just hopping on the bandwagon?!?!?!? How about learning to deal with tough times and severe lows in order to make you stronger as a person. I mean really, look at how the country has gone.... big reason is because the past generation has not learned to be tough and to perservere and to be TRUE leaders! We are a nation of bandwagon fans and bandwagoneers in general and nowhere is that reflected more than in ammature sports! We may not have won anything but I can guarantee that the young men that played for all 4 years at GC and stayed with it through all the mess are much stronger people for it! As for recruiting there has been numerous allegations but no proof. As stated by numerous people numerous times kids will (unfortunately for high schoolers) migrate to very successful programs. I do have a problem and do not understand how with a kid doesnt even live in the COUNTY, much less the district and is allowed to play by TSSAA rules. As was my understanding they could only go to private schools if they were outside the district/county... not enroll as freshman in any school they wanted. That ruled was changed I believe my second or third year at GC after all the Humboldt vs. GC lawsuit stuff! At least thats what was told to me by my principal and AD.
  9. no need to appologize for it... heck, its the truth, plus, i'm a little tougher than to let that bother me! and its jArry by the way. lol
  10. oh, let me clarify my comment... i noticed you did say could... i dont think they could realistically. Now of course there are major upsets and great tourney runs at all levels every year so anything is possible, but i just think the road would be too tough for them to make it (even in a "COULD" sense).
  11. I think you are giving them a bit too much credit.... REGIONAL championship.... NO! They are playing well and are certianly much better than most people thought, but they would not be able to make it past Northside, Covington, even Haywood who is playing MUUUUUCH better, Fayette Ware, etc... They can certianly play for a district tourney championship though. The kids play hard, execute well, and seem to have a good basketball IQ. I've seen a lot of criticism of Coach Shepard over the past few years but it is obvious he has been doing a good job b/c this team MAY be one of the less ATHLETIC groups they've have the past few years but are definately coached well and are better overall players.
  12. ehhh, lets just let it all go. i was kinda being an ###### about it and going off for no real reason. guess i was just in one of my pissy moods.... talking about the past i guess i had GC flashbacks and got all uptight again! lol... as for LC... maybe this is finally the year they make it to substate although if they dont win the regional tourney it will be hard to go down to what will most likely be Manassas and win! They better beat humboldt or hope for a major upset in memphis sending Manassas to humboldt. Good year thus far though.
  13. uhhh, obviously the comment wasn not directed at you... yours was just the last comment at the time so i just clicked the reply button on the last one i read. Like I said... "obviously" everyone knew who it was directed at being he replied to me and you knew it wasnt at you so......
  14. yeah, we could have been really good if i hadnt lost 6 seniors that first year and my only two effective ball handling Guards the next.... was just a struggle from that point. As for the last couple of lines... LOLOLOL.... he wasnt "hired" but as for the other part... no comment. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> Oh, and I"m not a "former" coach... still going at it. who are you since you have a bit of insight on me and GC the past few years?
  15. uhhh, thats why its called graduation. everybody would be good if you could just bring back the best players from the past... DUH... i'm sure you were trying to be sarcastically funny but that attempt was so rediculous it was a monumental failure. Haywood would be state champs if they brought back tony delk, ricky taylor, jarvis vernardo, liggins... Man, how awesome would Bolivar be with Kemp and Chism and the numerous others back or how about Liberty with Sain and Jones, the Long brothers, etc.... see how that is just so rediculous its not funny!
  16. I'm not sure if its "selfishness" but i believe its the fact that they dont trust the others to make the play... CJ and Pierce dont trust that the others will make a good play if they pass it unlike last year where Blake always got the kick out or they drop off an inside dish to Kimble or Taylor b/c they were all of equal "stardom" and nobody was really bigger than anyone else... even Blake. I just feel that they may feel that they are the "main" weapons and therefore should shoot it most of the time instead of trusting the freshmen and making the obvious open pass. I think it will be fixed by post season tourney time once they get more aquainted with each other and the trust factor improves.
  17. Good, bad or otherwise the reffing was at least consistant and balanced! The tech probably was an appropriate call b/c Coach shouldve let it go... i noticed Rex with his arm around him trying to move him away from the ref as if he knew what was coming. Fact it McCord may have gotten the "T" on purpose to fire the kids up... coaches do that sometimes. This was my first time watching DC so my next comment my not be quite correct but I think the biggest things about last night were: 1) the defense was not good. DC relies on forcing a lot of turnovers from their press and didnt do a good job with the press last night. Foul trouble then forced them to get out of the press and run a 1-2-2 match-up most of the second half to help protect CJ and Pierce. The press was not what i'm used to seeing, but of course losing the experience of Taylor, Kimble, Parr, and Blake can make that understandable. 2) The DC offense was VERY one dimentional... pass to a guy (Peirce, Yarbrough, or CJ) and they just drive and most alwasy throw up a contested off balanced shot! The previous years once they drove they did a MUCH better job of making the pass as the defense rotated. No kickouts at all last night. They must move the ball better and get a second level of drive.... meaning: drive then kick out, then drive and score as the defense will be out of position rotating back from the help of the first drive. Hard to just drive against a set defense with decent size and athletic ability. You MUST make them help and then try to recover. All this being said that could have just been a one game issue, but it looked very habitual... meaning from the way they did it it doesnt look like they usually do pass it as much as in the previous two years after the initial attack. I'm sure McCord will look at it and get that all worked out though. The last and most certian fact is this: Anyone can get beat and everyone has great and horrible games. Remember, N. Carolina just got beat AT HOME by BC so. The fact is a good team will most often than not pulll out those games with a W and the DC kids did a good job and giving themselves a chance to win late in the game. Also, great job by Pickens, Battle, and #12 (Comage) of Haywood. Comage had a great first half being the main source of the initial 12-2 Tomcat run.
  18. score btw westviesw and gc boys tonight?
  19. Well, as the DC faithful will be on shortly to explain the Choctaws just barely beat haywood by 1... after being down the entire game. couple of personal observations: 1. Haywood is greatly improved 2. DC looked very sluggish, unfocused, not really energized like usual. Maybe b/c of the first game where they won by 41 and they just thought i'd be easy. Of course the youth probably was a factor as well.... 3. The Yarborough kid although very good for a freshman must develop better passing abilities. Once he starts his drive he is not passing for anything to anybody. He does finish well but needs to find the open shooters more often on the kick-out... saw Hudson open multiple times in a corner with no feed. Anyway, good job to coach jones and the tomcats and although a loss is still a loss there is a lot of good that came from this game.
  20. you are correct about that but as far as me or any REAL coach/ fan/ whatever is concerned if you played and lost its a loss!!! so they may not count it but if they dont then its a real chicken *^$# move! lololololol
  21. JCM is not undefeated... ripley beat them by like 17 early in the year
  22. I noticed the Gibson County Christmas Tournament has been moved up to b/f the holidays this year. What are the times and match-ups of the games? I saw GC plays Milan (BOYS) this Saturday but what time??????
  23. what time does GC play milan in the x-mas tourney? it is this sat the 20th right?
  24. haywood is down this year. you are forgetting COVINGTON! I think its between NS and Covington
  25. hold up............. you mean to tell me you have Westview over GC???? you sure you're ok? you hadnt started doing the funny grass have you? LOL...
