  1. The LC Panthers have pulled another upset tonight beating Maryville @ Maryville. Wells has the panthers believing and playing good team ball. Keep it up Panthers.
  2. Gotta agree with you. Well's and the Panthers pulled off another great win tonight. They topped White County in the Hall of Fame opener by 9 i think. I look for Well's to be in high school coaching for a couple more years and i assume he will be looking at small colleges and progressing his career. No one can expect him to stick around in the high school ranks. The thing that gets me about the area he is in now is that the parents are very unrealistic about their children's talent. It could be the worst i have ever seen anywhere in the state. These expectations make it very difficult to keep his team as one. That is one of the most underated jobs this guy does. You would think that LC is a hotbed for D1 talent. Those that know basketball however will be behind this guy and follow him wherever he goes. Keep it up Coach. Good luck Panthers.
  3. Being a college student and someone young, a good younger coach in the area that doesnt get a great deal of respect as of yet is Shane Wells of Lenoir City. He is a winner where ever he goes and he gets the best out of his players.
  4. also baseballmaniac, not to leave you out. I know from experience and from having children throwing up 10 times in an hour. It is real easy to say that you would have played and every player from our school would have. But in all reality when you are running a temperature and vomiting pretty consistently on the 10 minute mark, not only are you taking a chance on getting other players on your own team sick before big district games, but also taking a risk of making your illness much worse. From what i hear from LC is that Hood and Powers were both at school that day trying to keep the game in play. But i just think its really hard to judge on what someone else did or should have done when its not you. Its just like us keeping our football players out a game to let their hammy rest an extra week. They could have went, just wouldnt have made sense to take a chance on it getting worse. But i agree as i told nation that LC and loudon should play in all sports each year.
  5. You guys do make some great points. LC and Loudon should play each year. It just makes sense financially and locale wise. It is a great rival game for both teams. As for the reason they have not been playing, that from my understanding is more geared towards a higher up decision. Not individual coach decisions. As for the hatred, that??™s part of a rivalry, but what you don??™t realize is that some of the players on both sides are actually good friends and associate with each other. The hatred isn??™t as widespread as you think. But I do understand your feelings towards them RN. All I have said is that I would hope that you can keep the chants and provoking going towards players on the court, not fans and little children as I witness at your game vs. LC last Thursday. Frankly some of the stuff that you all were saying to kids (7 year olds) was pretty disgusting. As for what game you walked out on, it was Scott County at home (game ended up being a blow out, but Scott played us really close at Scott which they always do).
  6. Wow, it is so interesting that you think that you all were the reason the team did well last year. Now dont get me wrong, its nice to have a student section behind you and cheering you on, but to me the whole point just went right over your head. As for me being one of the reasons you walked out..... dont flatter yourself. I have better things to do. Its really strange that you all left at a crucial time in a big game for the redskins just because you were asked to stand on the first row of the bleachers and not 1 foot closer on the floor. Its a real shame. Im not saying you all dont have spirit, you have plenty of that, you could just do so much better. Trust me i have been at enough of our games to see how you all act and some of the very inappropriate things you all say to little children and people that are innocent to the situation. I just hope that when you graduate this year that someone takes over the nation and leads them in a way we can be proud of and not ashamed of. As for Coach Wells, im sure he would admit that you all do help a great deal for a home court adavantage, but i also know that he is smart enough to know that it may have had a little to do with gasper, eller, hawkins, everett, laughlin, etc. I am glad you all have school spirit, but realize that you are there to support your team and town, not support the nation. There are going to be times when your team needs that extra boost to get them through a tough spot in the game, i just hope its not after you all are asked to follow rules. Because unless you have learned your lesson, when the team needs you the most, you will be out in the parking lot protesting and losing sight of what you are there to do in the first place.
  7. Being from the Loudon area and witnessing some fantastic match-ups over several years, it makes me sick to my stomach to hear the trash that can come from someone who is obviously too young to appreciate the atmosphere that these two schools give each time they meet. I honestly remember just recently how the so called "Redskin Nation" abandoned their team and walked out during the game. That says nothing about the name you wear on your chest. It just shows immaturity on the fans for not supporting your team. A fan, taken from the word "fanatic" means that whether you are in 1st place or so far in the cellar you can't see the freakin' light, you still show up and cheer. I understand what it was like to be in high school and have a outstanding time at a game, but I also remember that it is not cool to yell at younger kids as they run by and make them feel stupid. When in all reality, you are the fool. Ok, enough wind from the old man, my point is simple. Consider yourself fortunate that you are able to be part of a rival game and understand how important it is for the players to have you cheering them on. It is about the game, not you, the game, so don't lose sight of the fact that win or lose, you are lucky enough to be a part of a energetic, small town rivalry. As far as you saying the LC kids were heartless in the fact that they didn't play. I don't think you can understand the kind of heart that these kids have shown all year and the improvements they have made from last year. They are working towards a championship in the future, not just hung up on one game. Oh, and last time I checked, you are on the sideline watching while these young men are busting their butt for themself and the pride of their school.
  8. If one would look back to the summer when Coach Shane Wells took this job and questioned whether or not he was committing career suicide in going home to Lenoir City, they should now open their eyes and have their foots removed from their mouths. As many supporters of the young Wells told you, he gets the best out of his players and is one of the best guys to play for around. The Lenoir City team even as young as they are (only have 2 seniors) are competing against the older, more seasoned teams in the region. The players at LC love this guy, and would do anything he asked them to do and not look back. That is something that sports programs have lacked around the LC area for a few years now. As for the game against Farragut...... Lenoir City led by as many as 8 throughout the game and had Farragut on their toes for the majority of the 2nd, third and fourth quarters. Farragut had some very clutch shooting from their guards that got them back in the game when Hood was benched with foul trouble. I cant honestly say from watching that Farragut played that bad, they shot from the line well, shot about average and didnt turn the ball over much at all. I think Lenoir City is just trying to show people that they need to start to circle their dates with LC and not look at them as a pushover. The district tournament is going to be one of big interest. This team doesnt quit when they are down and by looking at their record, it is very deceiving...... the only big loss they had was to bearden at bearden and if i remember correctly the game was cut to 13 at the beginning of the 4th. The boys played Maryville to 14 at maryville with the game being 8 with 2 minutes to go. They battled back from 15 down to take the lead late against halls at halls. These are very good basketball teams that usually dont include the likes of Lenoir City. All i have to say is look out. Coach Wells and the rest of the staff at LC are doing some great things...... i wouldnt want to see them on my schedule anytime soon. If you do, you better be ready for the battle of your life because they wont quit until that last whistle sounds. Congrats on a great showing last night panthers. Cant wait to see you all again in the district and region tournaments. It was a pleasure.
