  1. I beleive sports writers from all across TN vote for All-State each year. They typically do a very good job considering they have to come up with the best players in each classification from all across TN. Congrats to the district 12a girls in Daniel, Simmons, and Laws. All three of them are very well deserving of the honor.
  2. Someone can correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe All-State is always chosen by the sports writers. They base their selections on individual play for the entire year.
  3. We beat Santa Fe previously this year by around 13 or so, but that was really early in the year. We know they will probably play us zone, so as long as we are hitting the 3s we should be fine. Perry county beat cornersville around christmas by 11 and that was when cornersville had hopkins. If they show up to play, they should have little problem with cornersville.
  4. A 12A sweep is extremely likely.
  5. Actually....you are wrong. From the mid 90s up until the 2007-2008, the district had anywhere from 8 to 10 teams in it. If you will go back on the schedules, to the 07/08, 06/07, 05/06 seasons, ect., you will see that mt. pleasant, hampshire, zion christian, and even santa fe (early late 90s and early 2000s), have all been apart of district 12A at some point.
  6. I am expecting two good games. If collinwood can contain loretto's offense like they did at home, then we have a great shot of being in the championship game. Go Trojanettes!!!!
  7. Well, technically, our girls finished tied for 3rd with perry, but it was a major improvement from where just about everyone thought we would be, including myself. I believe morris knew he was out early in the season because he just didn't coach hard in many of the games down the stretch. His game against us over here was the strangest I have ever seen him. He sat the entire game and never moved from the bench. I don't even think he called a timeout or raised his voice once, and those that have had him know thats not him. One would think that returning to the school where you were fired from there would be some motivation to beat them, but he just didn't seem to care if they won or not. Maybe he wanted them to lose that game because he felt he had a better shot against perry in the 4th and 5th game than us, but with it being on perry's homefloor, you would think not. The other night in stown's tournament game against perry, he was as into it has I have seen him this year. He coached to win that game, but in the end, perry's two workhorses took over and their just wasn't much he could do. I have said all along that i don't think he is a terrible coach when it comes to the actual developing of the players and the strategy. What is does lack is the ability to deal with players adn their attitudes, team drama, ect. He struggled with it here at collinwood and he struggled with it at summertown. in all honesty, even if the smith girl hadn't have left, they very likely would have been in the same exact spot they are in, because i would imagine the turmoil would have continued. I am sure he is more than happy to get out of there, just like the summertown folks are more than happy to see him go.
  8. Easy....phone and computer. It is possible that i am wrong, but I don't think so. It is all too coincidential. Look I'm stubborn and you, or y'all possibly, is/are stubborn so we can argue all night, but i have other stuff to tend to. i'll be back tomorrow if you feel the need to continue.
  9. lcwildfalcon posts logs out, and choctaw2011 logs in and posts. What a surprise!
  10. Do you have reading comprehension problems? where exactly did I state that lake county would NEVER beat wayne county? I only said that you all wouldn't be able to handle Daniel, and you won't. And as for you commending the guy above for putting flowers name in his 3, well I hate to break it to you but he is talking about Class AA, so either he has no clue what he is talking about, kinda like you, or he was being sarcastic. Probably the latter, but you weren't even smart enough to figure that out. Also, everyone knows games are all about match-ups. you can do the whole they beat this team, and this team beat that team, and so that means we can beat them because another team we played beat a team that beat them. That is insane and has no merit. in the end, you have your opinion, which is more biased then mine considering you only talk about ONE girl from YOUR school, and i have mine, and guess what? No voter is asking either of us what we think. i think it should be daniel, garland and simmons. you obviously just think flowers should be the only nominee, and she should definitely win it. You even think she should be a nominee in AA with your great support of the poster above. Unbelievable. Shoot, just give her the A, AA, and AAA miss basketballs. Now don't forget to log in under your other names and post.
  11. So the seeds are for the tournament 1. Perry county 2. Summertown 3. Wayne county 4. Collinwood or loretto 5. Collinwood or loretto 6. Clifton I dont know who gets to actually be 4th or 5th with us and loretto, but it doesnt matter either way as we still have to play each other. I am nervous about that game for our boys. realisticly both our boys and girls teams could be in the 4th and 5th place game, which isnt fun at all.
  12. SNOW, SNOW, STAY AWAY! If snow postpones our huge game at home against summertown friday night, I will be very disapointed. Big, big game for both of these teams. Go GREEN!
  13. First off, IF Lake county gets to state, they will not want any of Wayne county. A camp game? Seriously? Coach byrd loses half of his camp games every year......big deal! He wins when it matters. They have been to state a half a billion times. Lake county has been how many? Oh yeah, you went two years ago....whew, what a dynasty you all have. Lake county has NO size inside to handle Daniel, so don't even think you can matchup with her. She will very likely WIN miss basketball. She's just one of numerous great ball players who were miss basketballs that we have had here in wayne county. we have had them from two of our three schools--collinwood and wayne county. And according to the boxscores and other posts on here, simmons hasn't had her "lunch ate" by flowers in either game they have played. Being athletic and fast doesn't make you a miss basketball. I said when i last saw flowers in an earlier thread, so you can go back and read that yourself. At least i have seen all of these girls mentioned at some point, while you only watch lake county. It is so interesting how all the lake county posters type EXACTLY the same way with the same exact tendencies..Oh look at my double period.Or the fact that I start all new sentences right beside the period from my last sentence, just like I did this one. Also, your multiple personalities arent fooling anyone "choctaw" with your "im not from lake county," yet 90% of my posts are about Lake County.
  14. 9a plays 10a but 10a is not very good. Moore county will likely roll right past everyone to substate. They will likely get wayensboro or loretto in the sub-state game, if there are no upsets along the way.
  15. Looks like two of the three games last night were tight games. Collinwood cruised to a win over Frank Hughes allowing us to rest and prepare for Friday's HUGE game with Summertown. Summertown played Loretto tight at summertown, but I don't think it will be as close when the two play at loretto later. Wayne county struggled with perry county at perry county, but came out with the win. Friday's games are going to be really key to district standings, which should set up a great district tournament, which is at perry county I believe.
  16. The more I have thought about it, the more I think the nominees in class A should be Carly Daniel, Rachel Garland, and Alecia Simmons. All three average your typical 15 - 20 points per game, but they also put up other impressive numbers in ALL other statistical categories. Daniel averages double-digit rebounds and about 3.5 steals per game. Simmons has to average like 7 assists per game and like 4 to 5 steals per game. Garland leads her team in most statisical categories as well; her stats have been taken down from moore county's website in preperation for post season play. They do all of this against QUALITY competition night in and night out. All 3 have put up these numbers despite having teams play numerous junk defenses and often times double, and even occassionally triple, teaming them. They are leaders on the court and off. You don't see any of them get technical fouls or flagrant fouls, and none of them are rude and unsportsmanlike with other players. I don't know how they are in the classroom, but I am sure they are upstanding students as well. in my opinion, they are the best 3 well-rounded class A nominees. Of the three, Daniel shoudl win.
  17. Our girls will get a nice dose of Daniel again tonight when we go play Wayne County. I hope we are able to contain her, but she is at such another level compared to the younger girls we have. I expect her to have yet another double-double tonight, especially since the game is at Waynesboro. We did a really good job on her in the 1st half when we played them here in Collinwood back at the beginning of the month. She completely dominated the second half of the ballgame though. I may get lynched for saying this because I do support the green, but I do feel like Daniel should be a definite nominee. Her versatility and ability to be a major factor on both offense and defense seperates her from most. I don't know if she should be the winner or not, it is not my decision to make, but she deserves careful consideration. I also saw where Simmons of Perry county had 30 points and 8 assists last night against Decatur county, who i believe is 2nd in 15a behind scotts hill. I don't know about all of perry's games as I have only seen them the three times and two of those where from when we played them, but i can tell you they have played a tougher schedule than any of us in 12A, and i would say maybe the toughest in all of class A. There are no cupcakes on their schedule outside of clifton which everyone in our district has to play. i know they played lake county twice and lost both times, but if i remember the box score correctly, Simmons had like 20+ in both games. Neither game looked like a blow-out. I don't think it really matters who out of those five mentioned gets nominated, they are all worthy. But I don't think a team's record has much to do with it, becuase records are deceiving and sometimes there are great players on not so good teams.
  18. Right on target for Class A. The only player i have not seen this year from that list is Flowers, but I saw her last year. She's really good--and fast! Colter is a good player but when you play the types of teams her team plays, it is easy to put up 20+ ppg. I think you have to consider the level of competition in respect to the player's numbers. The first 4 all play on teams that play tough competition night in and night out, including non-district games. I think any of the 3 from the first 4 would be great nominees. I have grown up watching Daniel play here in Wayne County. She is just so tough when she wants to be and I don't think she has even reached her potential. Our team has had more than its fair share of struggles with the Simmons girl from perry co. She is good at just about all facets of the game, and is well respected by coaches in this area. The Garland girl from moore county is an absolute beast. She plays multiple positions and does everything for Moore County that they need her to do. Flowers is super quick and can score in bunches. I think she is a good floor leader as well, if I remember correctly.
  19. We are so PROUD of our Trojanettes victory over Loretto. Our girls are really starting to come together and this win was huge for us. We played some great defense that really had loretto confused. Laws struggled all night and we made shots when we needed to. Loretto didn't play that one post player they had. She had a cast on one of her hands and was on the bench. Does anyone know what happened to her and how long she will be out? As for our girls, we may just be dancing well after the district tournament after all. As for summertown and perry, based on the boxscore it looked like simmons had her way with them and got some support from the other players. A lot of people probably didn't think perry had a shot winning at summertown, b/c it is so hard to win there. Perry has the players to be very good, but from what I can tell they just don't always show up to play. They are their own worst enemy. Summertown has some MAJOR issues going on to go from sub-state last year to now in 5th place in the district. Tuesday nights games will be huge with: Collinwood at Perry County Summertown at Wayne County Clifton at Loretto Any predictions on those games?
  20. My internet has been down so I haven't been able to post. But, I am extremely proud of the TROJANETTES victory over perry county. The girls played exceptionally hard, and it was probably the best game we played all year. Perry county looked like they didn't even want to be there, which helped us alot. Outside of their PG, it didn't look like anyone else even cared that they were playing that night. Our post play is definitely better than theirs. That one girl in the middle for perry county does nothing, which allowed Alexis and Hanna to dominate down low. Their coach looked shocked that we jumped out on them early, but then again, everyone was quite shocked. A very good win for our girls that hopefully we can build upon. I was not so shocked to see that Waynesboro struggled with the lady eagles at Summertown. Everyone knows how much tougher Summertown is at home, regardless of who the coach is. No more district games until after the new year. i think just about all the teams are playing in some type of christmas tournament.
  21. If last night's game against loretto was any indication of how this season is going to go, then i don't hold out much hope for this game. Our boys will have to play much better than that or we will get blown out of the gym by PC.
  22. Aren't you the one that said PC was embarrassing in another thread? I cannot fathom that anyone that is capable of beating summertown being considered an embarrassment.
  23. What a dud of a first district game. Collinwood was blown off the court early. The laws girl dominated the game from start to finish. I still don't think she is the best overall player in the district, but she tore us up last night. Loretto has good players in all five starting spots and they can all hit the 3--it was raining them last night. they are going to be really tough to beat this year. I thought alexis played a solid game and Nikki always gives everything she has, but we are going to need more players step up to beat any of the top four teams. Just when I thought we might have a chance, loretto came in an showed us just how "good" we are. In other games, Wayne county beat clifton by 20. Heard Byrd played a lot of girls and did not play his starters hardly any. Would have been a much more lopsided game had he played them the full time. I want to give a shoutout to Ashely Bumphus down there in clifton. Heard she has been playing very hard every game and it is showing in the box score. Clifton needs more players to play like her if they ever want to compete in this district. Perry county over Summertown by 7. Had a friend from summertown tell me that Perry had more girls that could score than they thought. apparently their team tried to deny simmons the ball the entire game only to have all the other girls step up and make baskets. To keep simmons to single digits and still not be able to beat perry county is kind of scary. Doesn't look very promising for us friday night against them, but you never know.
  24. District play gets underway Tuesday with: Summertown (3-3) at Perry county (2-4) Frank hughes (1-4) at Wayne county (7-0) Collinwood (4-3) at Loretto (7-1) I'll take Wayne county in a rout by 40 Loretto over collinwood by 9, though i'm really pulling for a trojanette victory . We would have to keep hemmen and laws both under 15 points though to have a chance. Summertown and Perry county -- toss up. Perry's record is deceiving because their schedule has been way tougher than anyone else's. this one could go either way. What does everyone else think?
  25. Last night's results: Collinwood drilled Waterloo 67 - 22 who is not a strong team but we are looking better and better all the time Loretto beat Spring Hill (AA) 55 - 36 behind another strong game from hemmen Frank Hughes lost to Riverside 27 - 59 Perry county lost to Creek Wood (AA) 48 - 58 after being up double digits at the half Summertown lost to Lewis county (AA) 41 - 65 and was down by at least 30 points at one point in the game!!! What happened here??? Wayne County did not play.
