  1. Good post, wrestlinglover, you are spot on. Great work by both wrestlers, and we should hope for great things by both. Based on the schools that are looking at both, apparently they are both very smart and deserving of all that they have earned, including our respect, at least mine. There are a few posters with agendas that are not right, and do not show well for them or the schools that they support. It is clear in some posts that one or the other of these fine wrestlers are not being treated with respect, and that is a shame, and shame on those supposed adults who are doing it.
  2. And if he does, then it is settled....what are you driving at? Go back throught the threads to check your logic, you have confirmed you have an agenda...and it isn't attractive, or right...
  3. That a man...i'd be disappointed if you didn't get the last word...
  4. BCB, how in the world can you keep quiet through all of the eulogies, which are quite premature, as you and family WiLL be back! Nice to meet you at state,a nd please "learn" me and a few others who need it on statesmanship...by the way, you remind me of Spurrier...(uh, that would be a compliment), only nicer looking and far more interesting...
  5. MWR, hope you are doing well, you have just posted on a thread you thought should be retired....you know how this goes, just air, no big deal...
  6. Free, good point about the FR wrestlers and the coaches , class acts...all are passionate fans...after awhile, we should learn a certain protocol about what to say, when to say it, realize that after someone loses, get ALOT quieter, if someone is smashing another like a bug, get quieter, etc. We al learn as we go. Hopefully, the older parents "learn" the younger ones, as we all should realize we are in our own fraternity of wrestling fans,as are the parents, as are the coaches, as are the wrestlers...I will make a point, though, about winning. The golfer who always wins hears "good shot " about 40 times a round..the good wrestler the same , the tenured and successful programs the same..those fortunate folks (in life as well) should be magnanimous in victory, graceful even...and we all should recognize the brethren who are not in the chosen few programs who also put forth the herculean effort necessary to be successful in this sport, and accept them into "the circle"... in other words, "can't we all get along?' ah, may be too boring....
  7. You are welcome, we were late to the sport, but obviously consumed with it as our men were involved...
  8. 2Dblleg, you obviously just want to state your point of view, ...and we know that everyone attending is a fervent, passionate fan.....butttttt....if I or you say anything that is in the heat of battle, which might be construed as controversial, (which I haven't ...yet)..I would probably eat it and admit it and apologize, or at least attempt to smooth it over..wouldn't want my school's good name or our hard-working wrestler's good efforts to be tarnished or diminished ina any way...not a bad way to approach it...
  9. Texas, have enjoyed your posts, and proud of you for your service, and Rigger's and sorry for not remebering the other posters who have correesponded. You went to UTC, and assume you wrestled, and assume you have a fav team in Chatt, not sure which one. Anyhow, glad to almost know you...
  10. Thanks, SilverPie, we were leaving for lunch, and I wanted to watch, and saw what looked like a stalling call on Watson with 30 seconds, and then he pulled off his headgear in disgust....didn't realize the overtime, and thought it was stalling, wonder what the penalty point was for?
  11. Thanks, sometimes I need to be reminded of that...
  12. You know, I have heard this about drivers in different states as well.."can't believe they drive this way in this state.." I just don't buy the generalizations about the reffing, and that it is bad here and great everywhere else. Read those threads in those states, and they are the same. And everywhere you go, you will know soon enough how the ref is calling matches, and the good wrestlers adjust. As Dan Gable said, get enough points so that the bad ref doesn't affect the result of the match.
  13. DaisyMay, hope your evening is going well! I think your post was quite succinct, yet might speak volumes for you ....but, we can't really speak for others, so this post is for you. Are you saying that the private schools have an advantage over the public schools because they are offering scholarships under the table? You can respond succinctly if you would like. Are you saying that your children are at a disadvantage because of this? In other words, since this is a wrestling place, is your son wrestling a scholarship stud who is a physical specimen, who gets better coaching, better food, better clothes, better parenting, etc.? Answer succinctly, if you don't mind. Speaking for myself, I see a bunch of athletes out there D1 and D2 who make a bunch of sacrifices, who get coached as they do, pretty good or great coaching, who have the desire to do well (some obviously have more than others), and who compete as well as they can, and who win or they lose. And frankly, the process probably defines the person better than the results. I have found that as good as you are there is always someone better around some corner. But there are some young men who cannot be outworked. And in my mind that young fella has won the game. One of my rambling points is that most people think that the "other guy" has some sort of advantage...coaching, money, etc. Mark that down as an excuse if you think about it that way. My other rambling point is you are unwittingly beating down the D1 programs, that perhaps they don't have the same "resources"...recruited athletes, money, coaching... My third point is that your post and your attitude don't pass the smell test of do what you can with the cards that we all are dealt...and I am not talking about money. I don't think this is fair to the great and proud D1 and D2 programs out there, or the ones that are trying to be proud and great. One last point... if there are these athletes recruited and beating the less fortunate ones, how many can be out here, who are they, and are they affecting your son? Or are you speaking for others in the name of fairness? Halfway kidding, but you are not really being fair to D1 or D2.
  14. At the end of the Tyler Watson/ Ryan Browner match it appeared that it ended early with Watson not very happy. Does anyone know the story?
  15. Mornin', Rigger, couldn't agree with you more, I love this sport, too! I wish I had known you were sitting there, I would have introduced myself..I was sitting a row or two above the BA wrestlers, and I bet my son was 10 feet from you. Now, the decompression or withdrawl stage or whatever else you can call it begins..time to watch golf, I suppose..take care
  16. You know, MWR, I will match you by saying that "with 100% certainty " that Mr. Cash would love to have a rematch. Actually, I will say I am pretty sure, because we know that nothing is certain. How, pray tell, did BA know FR's lineup for the state individuals before the seeding meeting? I don't think that is possible, do you? If so, then it would be possible for FR to know BA's, and move accordingly....that simply isn't, didn't and won't happen, my friend...I am trying to follow the logic of Marchetti moving to 160 for the state duals, and then possibly drop down to 152 at state individuals or stay at 160 ? So then Cash makes the decision to go 152 for state, and does Marchetti know that ahead of time and go to 160? I THINK NOT...Could Cash have stayed at 145? OF COURSE... I think they are both wrestling where they want to, and good luck to both of them. BA was trying to field the best team they could at the duals given the starters finished for the season by moving down a weight class (still had holes), and had a great tourney, couldn't quite bring home the bacon. Finally, let us be charitable days prior to the Greatest Show on Mat and let bygone be bygones, and enjoy these fine warriors plying their trade....
  17. Does anyone know if the finals will be webcast? I believe they were last year? Thanks!
  18. Chuck, good post, couldn't agree with you more. In the end, except for us chickens, it only matters to the team and the wrestler. Unfortunately, some of the prior posters decided to make sport of Mr. Cash runnin' or Mr. Marchetti runnin'....and it had much more to do with the silly bias of the posters...wish them, their teams, and their families well...wrestling in a couple of days!!!!!
  19. Double, let's meet at state, it would be my privilege..I'll be near the BA side..
  20. Afternoon, In Hoc. If you have seen Ryan Carrethers wrestle this year, you would agree that he strong, a very good wrestle, good on his feet, and in shape. He won't get gassed if it gets to the third period, IMHO. After all, he has earned his undefeated status. See you on Thursday.
  21. Morning, Bayou, only a couple of more days...the way I read the criteria is to separate the state champs, ie. on different sides of the bracket, for 2008. Then it goes to 2007, and I guess Jake didn't place in 2008. Not sure about Miller....As an aside, it does emphasize the regionals, which is good, and the state, which is good, but the state side of it IMHO is tricky because of different competition, weight classes, etc. I guess ther has to be something. It is the random part after that that is luck of the draw that gets your gut churnin'...Anyway, would be interested in what the TSSAA has to say, becuase you are usually right...
