I thought it was pretty funny that Kole Bishop (145 champ from SEHS) was in the team picture with Bradley C. after they won the team title. Thats was odd, because he had never met them until this past week.

Region 1 didnt do to bad on the team score side either. Last I checked DB was in the top 20 ( 18 I think) and SEHS was tide for 23 despite only taking 3 kids. Most of SEHS points came from Kole, but Kaleb Arnold helped with a first period pin of the Bradley Central (285) .

OK I may have been wrong, if you went to Chattanooga you probably know what I'm saying. I saw a ref take a team point from a coach just because the coach questioned a take down call. The coach was very calm and polite, Iknow because I was less than 6 feet away and herd it all. That ref needed a chill pill bad. Dont get me wrong, Im not saying all the refs. were bad most did a very good job.

Great job Lady Toppers. You did your school and region 1 very proud. Keep up the hard work. If any seniors are interested King College is starting a womens program.

Iknow what you mean about Muncie, he officiated when I was in school and he was old back then..lol . He has always been one of my favorite officials he has always went out of his way to explain things to the kids so they dont make the same mistakes again. He's a good person.

I did not mean that offending people was part of our sport, that is why I said " part of the game " and by game I meant getting stuff started on coacht. As for being informed I have been around region 1 wrestling for many years and have seen the same 2 or 3 officials blow it time and time again. As for getting a shirt and whistle I would love to, but dew to my full time job have'nt got the time, but maybe someday. Then folks can talk about me because as an official or a coach you take the job knowing that it is going to happen.

I knew this post would ruffle some feathers. To be clear I did not have a child lose because of a missed call. And I know that missed calls are a part of the sport. I also beleave that an official should do all he can to call it by the book no matter what. I just thaught I would get some opinions from others on the matter. And boy did I, thanks to you all and if I offended anyone, to bad because that is part of the game. Oh yeh I still think that the coaches should vote on the officials for the regional tournament. I also agree that parents should stay in the stands and let the coaches and officials do their jobs as best they can.

Dont worry I hear they are going to have a booth set up to give cooty shots. The shots only cost $20, it normally cost $2 but you know how everything cost more at state.

Maybe they could set up a tattoo booth at the weighin sight, seems like most of the kids already have some sort of ink now days any way. Just like todays youth to take something that was once taboo and cool and ruin it. The young wipper snappers.

Region 1 has some of the worst officials in the state. If you are a coach,wrestler,parent or just a fan you have to agree we need new officials badly. I know that no one is perfect, but in region 1 we have a few officials who think they are gods. And every coach in the region knows who they are. But every year the same three or four are calling at the region tournament. I beleave it needs to be up to a vote by the coaches who refs the most important tournament of the year in that region. Just wondering if I am alone in my thinking.

The ankle idea sounds like the smartest way to go. But TSSAA does'nt always go the smartest route, do they?

This is great for the girls and the sport. But any one who was at state last year knows that this venue can't hold any more fans. I beleave it's time to move the competition to a bigger building in the future. This year we'll just have to move in a little closer and get to know each other a little better. After all wrestling is a contact sport. LOL

No never got to see Crosby, but I have seen our top three this year and stand by my earlier statement. Because I have also seen the competition they will be up against. Don't get me wrong,I would love to see them on the podium and hope they make it.

The 119s in region 1 got a great valentines gift. Travis Wilson (Sullivan East) will not be wrestling this weekend. He didnt make weight and it's to bad because he would have probably won regions and could have made the podium at state, but now we'll never know. Goodluck to the rest of the kids.

Some are not interested in benefiting or advancing the sport only their own reputations. Don't know if that is the case, but it could be.
