  1. I've watch Lindsey play several times this year and shake my head each time. He is smooth and has agility and can jump. Since he is only 13, I expect that he will grow an additional 5-6 inches. He needs to add about 60-70 lbs and the D1 coaches will all be drooling if they are not already.
  2. Agree. CPA has another freshman, Lauren Thompson, that I think will be a future star for CPA. She is coming off the bench and being a key role player this year, but I think she will be a force to reckon with in the coming years. She is about 6-2 and has a sweet 8-10 foot jump shot and has really gotten tougher in the paint this year. I am impressed.
  3. Merideth Roman led the Lady Lions in scoring with 16 points. She hit two free throws with 5 seconds to go to put CPA up by 4 (taking an elbow in the nose) to ice the win for CPA. Anna Mitchell had a great game for the Lions as well scoring 15.
  4. You were right on the money. Two great games tonight. Macon County wins by 4 in OT after being up 30-15 at half. CPA wins by 2 in a back and forth struggle all night. I thought Lipscomb kept CPA off balance all night and played a great game and probably should have won. CPA showed grit and determination at the end to pull it out.
  5. CPA, East Lit and Macon County win to move on. Any results of the Lipscomb Sycamore game?
  6. Thanks. Do you have the All Tournament Team as well?
  7. Anybody have the All District and All Tournament teams?
  8. She was also the 12th top scorer in 10-AA during the year. Cowan of East Lit would have been a much better choice in my opinion.
  9. Coach: you make a great point. Roman definitely is a key component for CPA. She plays much more savvy than a freshman. All district teams are a funny thing. It's rare you see an all-whatever team in our district made up of many underclassmen unless (a) there are just no upperclassmen at all on their team or ( the individual team gets 4 or 5 players on the all-whatever team and the upperclassmen are represented, too. It's been that way for a long time. Not saying I agree with it, just an observation. In fact, I agree with you that Roman was deserving from the games that I saw. One other thought: some times it's not just scoring that gets a player on the team. Other factors such as rebounding, assists, hustle, team leadership, etc. probably count for something as well. But, again, not knowing any of the stats at all, Roman would probably have been high in those categories, too. I've heard some funny/crazy/astounding stories over the years about why players did or did not make an all disctrict or tournament team. Most I couldn't verify so I won't recount any here, but if half of them are true, it's scary. The bottom line is - coaches are human and have biases, favorites, pet peeves, grudges and blind spots. So, while it's always a very nice honor for those on the team, it's also a "teachable moment" sometimes for those who don't make it, but arguably should have. Good luck to your Lions and all of our 10-AA teams at region. You make some good points. Perhaps the reason she did not make the team was due to her being a freshman. I guess that I am just too democratic (little "d") to subscribe to anything other than the best players being selected regardless of the "political" factors. I would hope that the coaches would as well, but maybe that is too much to expect. Let's make it a 10-AA sweep tomorrow night and Saturday night!
  10. If only 3 East Lit players made all district instead of four, then I made a mistake in my previous post. It was difficult to hear the announcer. I do not want to take any thing away from the players that were recognized for their effort during the year and during the tournament. I just happen to believe that the coaches made a mistake. I will try one more time to support my case for Meridith Roman and leave it at that. CPA won the tournament. Merideth Roman led CPA in scoring in the 3 tournament games combined. In the finals and in the semi-finals combined she led her team in scoring by 8 points. I don't see how anyone could leave her off the All Tournament Team.
  11. Selection is made by the coaches and you can not vote for your own players. Don't know if your own coach can keep you out of a selection or not, but that doesn't make sense to me. East Lit (number 2 team in 10-AA) had four players selected. CPA the first place team in both regular season and tournament only had 2 players selected. I am not saying that everyone else wasn't deserving, but something is seriously wrong with the process.
  12. Merideth Roman was the second leading scorer in the championship game tonight by two points (she had 12 to CPA's Hannah Thurley's 14). No other player scored in double figures. In district semi-finals, she was the only player on both teams to score in double figures with 14 in a low scoring game. She also was the play maker for CPA and handled the press tonight. I am just baffled by the 10-AA coaches decision to keep her off the ALL Tournament Team. She should have been named MVP! What could they possibly be thinking?
  13. Just wondering how the coaches in 10-AA justify keeping CPA's Merideth Roman off of either of the All District Team or the All Tournament Team? Merideth was third in the disctrict in points scored and led the district in 3 point shots made. She led all scorers in the CPA-Hume Fogg nail biter game last week and was possibly the leading scorer in the CPA - East Lit championship game tonight. Were the 10-AA coaches even at any of the games?
  14. [What does "not sure what Lipscomb put on their floor" mean? If that's not accusing them of intentionally putting something on it, what is it? I guess in my attempt to build a straw man, I got so confused that I thought that in order to "put" something on something else, you had to do it intentionally. Silly me. Anyway, you can rejoice because the problem has been fixed. We've had several cold, snowy nights since then and no other problems. Oh (and yes, I know you didn't say this - in fact you said you found it hard to believe) no chili was cooked in the gym that night. There was chili - delicious I might add - but it was in the cafeteria. There was a chili eating contest at half-time of the boys game, but that was well after the slipping started. The slipping started when everyone started walking in from outside with junk on their shoes. All of which could probably have been prevented with some extra door mats. My point to all of that being that it was nothing that DL "put" on the floor. If you say that you didn't mean for that to be accusatory, I'll take your word for it, but it sure sounded that way to me. And, no, all straw men aside, I don't agree with you that it was all over the floor, because it wasn't. The floor was completey dry and in normal playing condition before the games started. It may have spread during the games from being tracked around by everybody, but before the games it was dry. The floor was slick, but I've seen worse. If it had been as dangerous as you unaccusationally imply, there were 3 referrees, the boy's and girl's coaches, and both AD's there to stop the game. Best wishes to your Lady Lions. They have a great team this year. Schools put products on their floors to preserve and protect them. My point was that it would appear that whatever Lipscomb was using was leaving a greasy film on the floor. Even when wiped up, the greasy film would remain. I will be sure to let the player who tore his MCL that night know that the problem is now fixed. Although it ended his season, I am sure he will be glad to know.
  15. Good assesment and prediction of the games last night. Whites Creek took CPA to OT, Hume Fogg upset Lipscomb and East Lit was upset by MLK. The number 2 & 3 seeds go down. All games decided by 3 points or less. Normally I would say that Maplewood would be a heavy favorite tonight against Pearl-Cohn, but given the current upset fever in this district, no team is safe.
  16. Puh-leeze. Lipscomb didn't "put" anything on the floor. If you were there you know it was bitter cold outside and there was snow and ice. The slick spots were at 3 corners where the outside doors were. Between the wet outside and the stuff that was put down outside to melt the snow and ice, it got tracked in. Fans walked on the edges and corners of the court and it got slick. You are right about that - it was very slick. However, if you were there you would know that Lipscomb tried to wipe it, wash it, dry it but it was still slick. The only "embarrassment" on the night was the way the CPA boys coach and bookkeeper acted after the game. You would think only CPA played on the slick floor. Lipscomb had the super secret non-slick shoe goo formula on their shoes so they wouldn't slide. Yeah, right. And the reason the DL boys beat them again at CPA was because they put Flubber on the bottom of their shoes. Back to girls basketball.... No where in my post did I accuse Lipscomb of intentionally putting something on the floor. The floor was just as dangerous for the Lipscomb students as it was for the visitors. However, you are wrong in that the entire floor was slick not just in three corners. Even when they tried to wipe it up, the floor was still slick. There was some kind of film covering the floor and the outside weather made it worse. Other gyms in bad weather do not have this problem. Lipscomb should fix this problem. Additionally, I did not say in my post that the slick floor favored one team over the other. On both nights you mention, Lipscomb was the better team and deserved to win the game. The slick floor affected both teams. In fact, I believe that Lipscomb's best player was slightly injured slipping on the floor in the lane going for a lay up. I can't speak about the coach or bookkeeper. You will have to ask them. However, since you seem intent on "straw men" arguments to shoot down, I suspect that you must agree with my assessment of the quality of the floor and the danger that it posed to the players that night.
  17. Great news on the new lights at East Lit. I couldn't image playing the district and regional tournament there with the awful lighting. Now if we could just get Lipscomb to clean up the grease on their courts so that players could play with out getting hurt.... Worst playing conditions I have seen in 38 years of high school basketball. I take that back. The old Father Ryan crackerbox gym might have been worse where the players on the bench had to put their feet on the playing court because the sidelines were so tight. At Lipscomb, this year, the referees quit calling traveling because the players kept slipping on the court. It was like playing on ice. One athelete tore his acl because of the poor floor conditions. Not sure what Lipscomb put on their floor or how they maintained it, but they should be embarrassed. Someone said that they were cooking chili in the gym prior to the game and the grease was still on the court, but I find that hard to believe.

  19. Thanks. Makes sense. Glad that they use record against higher seed before flipping a coin.
  20. So the scores in the head to head match ups do not matter in the tie breaker? (i.e. East Lit won the first game against DL by 13 and lost the second game by 1)
  21. It looks like CPA has wrapped up the number one seed in the 10-AA. Assuming that East Lit and DL both win on Friday, does anyone know how the tie breaker works? Thanks.
  22.
