  1. Go Skyhawks! Their my team on NCAA Hoops 2k8! Weddle was my star performer for a few games. It would be great to see them win the OVC and go to the big dance. Especially since Austin Peay always gets the better of me on the game.
  2. Okay I stopped reading after the first 3 pages because I was in shock that no one mentioned Ed McCollum from Greenback. He began coaching the boys again in the 06-07 season. A team that before he entered won 9 games in 3 combined years. That first year the team won 11 games. Which for that school was amazing. This year, they won 20+, district runner up, region runner up and went to Substate for the first time since 1985!! 1985!!! Im a grad of Greenback (played for the 11 win team of '07) and i wasnt born last time they went to Substate! And it wasn't recruiting. The team that played this year is the same team that sat on the bench watching upperclassmen get 3 wins a season years ago. This man is unbelievable and is a hall of famer if there is such a thing in high school basketball.
  3. good. Greenback appears to be double digit underdogs in this one. They play best that way.
  4. so its Greenbacks first time in Substate since '85. Think they can continue the magical season? I admit to not knowing alot about University, but from what I know, they are great shooters, but their weakest play is inside. That can come in handy for Titlow and Clower (who were oddly silent in the Region 2A Championship). Im hoping to make the 3 hour drive to Johnson City to watch this game. So who do you got going to Murfeesboro? University or Greenback?
  5. Sorry, I know you just locked the topic, but Im not here to continue the arguement. Im doing the opposite, so please dont lock this topic. Im from Greenback and was in the student section, so I know what went down and in fairness, we were rude right back. Even more so than Rams fans were. We were drillin Slusher, mocking him and his suspension. He didn't let us get in his head and never lost focus. I've never let words bother me. The game was a great one to watch. Both teams were focused on one thing: winning. Both student sections were pumped up and loud. Could you ask for anything else? Lets talk about the actual game. Grace is now 4-0 against Greenback this year. And as much as I dont like them (lets face it were rivals now), I respect the heck out of that team. Its hard to beat any team 4 times in one year. To beat District and Region runner ups? Thats phenominal. So kudos to Grace. And since you're reppin our District Im pullin for yall against Hampton/U High (havent checked on winner yet). After all the verbal lashings both fans gave each other, I noticed how some Ram students/parents came to me telling me great game, it was fun, etc. That was nice of them. So I figured I would do the same. I even walked up to the players alone and shook their hands, told them good game, and good luck. The only ones that kept their noses up at me personally, were some high school girls who had "Yahh Trick Yahh" signs. We got into a alittle confrontation in the halls, telling we were gonna beat them (u know, nothing out of the ordinary), then after the game when I was about to congradulate them on their win, those same girls mocked us and laughed at us. They were the only ones to do that, which didnt bother me. Its little high school girls, like I care what they think about me. Congrats to the Rams. I hope we meet again one last time this year.
  6. like Ramsfan said, dont count out Greenback. Thier showdown Thursday night will be an amazing game and if they can get past Grace, then I expect them to win at home in first round of Sub-State. And I say this because of this fact. They are 8-1 at home against 1A schools. That being to Grace by 2 (who even Ramsfan should admit was a very controversial ending). Thier other home losses? Lenior City, William Blount, and Knox Catholic. Thats nothing to be ashamed of really. The rowdy fans from Greenback have been wearing these shirts that say it all. "Refuse to Lose" because thats what Greenbacks doing. Last night against Wartburg it looked like it was over, but they came out midway through 3rd and made the heroic comeback. Dont ever count this team out. Thats what Wartburg did, and look what happened.
  7. Region 1 Hampton University School Region 2 Grace Christian Greenback Region 3 Temple Chatt. Arts & Science Region 4 Jackson County Westmoreland Region 5 Eagleville Nashville Christian Region 6 Moore County Culleoka Region 7 Humboldt Union City Region 8 Middleton Manassas check out how the bracket works here and at the bottom click 'A Regions'
  8. thats something Ive always thought. I like the new rule of 'First Round being at Top Seeds Location' but Ive never been a fan of a rotation. I think winning the district, should give u the rights to host it the next year. The only problem with that is if a team is in a subpar district and they continue to win it every year.
  9. Both Grace and Greenback won (my prediction holds out) Grace pulled away from Harriman as Harriman started forcing shots up. Thats what i saw when I was watching. Greenback/Wartburg was an amazing game. Both teams were hott from behind the 3. Trey Smith went nuts in the 3rd with a handful of threes bringing Greenback back to life. Michael Mardis sunk free throws at the end, proving why hes the leader of the team. So now its a District Finals rematch in the Regions. This has become quite a rivalry, but Greenback has yet to beat Grace this year or last year, but their worst lost to them in the past 2 years is only 13 I beleive. If any team can beat a team 4 times in one year, they deserve credit, but I think Greenback is living their dream they have waited for, and their not gunna let it slip away. I pick Greenback in a nail biter. What are your predictions? Greenback vs Grace Christian
  10. i hope you're right about Harriman. I want them to win. I dont think anyone likes Grace haha. And if theres a team in the district I like, its Harriman. Its gonna be a shoot out but I give Grace the edge by 4 or 5, sinking their foul shots at the end. Greenback beat Wartburg at home, and even though its at Wartburg (where Wartburg beat Gback) the Greenback crowd does something to that team that I cant explain (beleive me I experienced it last year). I know alot are making the trip to Wartburg to support their 'Kees. So even though its their floor, their gym, their rims, there wont be much of a home court advantage for Wartburg. This is gonna be a fun one.
  11. well like i said in the previous topic, this was my predicted final 4. Grace beats Harriman- It'll be good. Im pullin for Harriman because i love to watch McGill play, but Grace is too good on the perimiter. If Harriman can play defense and contest the shots tho, who knows. Greenback beats Wartburg They split in the regular season, and both are comin off big wins, but after Saturday night, Greenback is riding on Cloud 9. Beating Oneida by 20 somethin, and scoring 84 on a really tough Defense... their ready for Wartburg. Its a District Finals rematch this time for Regions.
  12. well the games ive saw of Harriman, they lack the intensity on D that most teams show. McGill is a standout though. Ive never seen that kid play a bad game. He's gonna have to carry the load one more time if they wanna beat Grace. And as much as I hate to say it, I dont think it'll happen. I like Harriman and their coach is very underrated, but I dont think its gonna happen.
  13. kudos to Harriman on beatin Sunbright. Was interested in that outcome. And now Wartburg is the sole survivor of dtheir district, but are goin up against a hot Greenback crew. This was my predicted top 4 though, so i pat myself on the back. Im anxious about the Greenback/Wartburg game. They split during the regular season, in two really good ball games. I think it all comes down to two factors for Greenback: Michael Mardis has gotta shine like he did last night against Oneida, and they have to lock down on D. If i remember correctly, Wartburg is a taller team than Greenback (as is almost every team they play). And the Grace/Harriman game would be a fun one to watch. Their kinda similar as they both use speed and honestly, both lack defensive intensity. I predict a District 2a rematch for the Regions and expect Greenback to beat Wartburg and Grace to beat Harriman. What does everyone else think?
