  1. Darn! There goes lunch. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  2. Any truth to the rumor that the Gibbs and Fulton game was called off after about 10 minutes into the 2nd half due to an all-out brawl?
  3. Just saw on news this a.m., 70% chance of rain for Saturday. I hope that goes down as we get closer to game times. Field will be wet after rain forecasted for this week.
  4. "...can beat CAK, Farragut, and Catholic,..." a tall order, BUT anyone who can beat those three should certainly be considered as a top contender for states.
  5. Morristown West, don't they have the bulk of club team Lakeway Kickers on squad? They could rise to the top of Region.
  6. Ugly game; 38 and rainy. Farragut only played about 20 minutes - first 10 and last 10, while Oakridge picked it up in the middle part of the match. Both goals off of headers; Farragut early 1st half, a set piece about 25 yards out Ishmael put ball to about 8-10 yards out and Stinton flipped it past Ryan with no chance to stop. Oakridge header resulted from a poor Matlock clear (throw) directly to a SoccerCat, ball eventually chipped to an open Pugh(?) left side of goalie box for open net header. Oakridge played well in spots, but really didn't have much penetration. Admirals outshot them by a 9-3 margin and corners favored Admirals as well, just couldn??™t put it in net more than once. It's early and likely will match up again during payoffs. Earlier post wondered about the #1 rating legitimacy. Team reloaded with a strong junior class. Sr. class has some good role players, but having only two impact leaders, Grieco, MacLellan, may hurt down the road, though juniors do have ability to step it up.
  7. Sorry but did not get to see. Heard that McMinn played well and may have caught Farragut off guard a bit, but they did not play poorly.
  8. Farragut 2-1 over McMinn (1-0 at half)
  9. 4-0 preseason record (beat Catholic & CAK both 3-0, Dobbins Bennet 1-0 & Morristown 2-0) 2-0 regular season (beat S Doyle 6-0 and McMinn 2-1) Still early and not sure about #1 rating, but they haven't lost, yet.
  10. A sleeper: Angus MacLellan, Farragut. Smartest one on the field and patient. Knows how to make people around him better.
  11. I've got to agree, all my kids play both club and H.S. and have even won states at both levels, BUT the excitement the intensity, the passion was so much more winning the H.S. championship.
  12. Karns 3 - Cookeville 1 Cookeville scored in the final seconds of the game. great to see a team not giving up! Farragut 4 - Houston 0 Farragut played a great game! They have several key injured players and the rest of the team has stepped up!
  13. 0-0 at half. good game. Fr. Ryan controlled a good deal of the time, but Farragut had some decent chances as well. both were good goals, the second was on a direct just outside the box.
  14. I have not heard it was confirmed. Coaching rumor has been flying around since right before the spring season (and maybe even longer). With his success in club soccer, will be interesting to see if that carries over to H.S. ball. Seems like he will have a decent base to work with next season.
  15. His club team with KFC was U18 Arsenal, I don't believe they are getting together next season as the U19 team so he is done with club coaching. I also don't think he is involved, from a coaching perspective, with any other club team, so no conflict, correct?
  16. Actually, if you follow Knoxville/surrounding soccer, should not be difficult to recall highlights. What makes Dins summary an entertaining read is his writing style and unbiased/factual approach. Sure he may have a differing opinion regarding best team out of Knoxville, but difficult to argue with the end result. West did play Farragut tough in both games, they just won when it mattered most. Even though it was a refreshing change, for many, it did not seem the same without either or both Farragut/Bearden in the mix. Looking forward to next season.
  17. Yes state championship under belt, yes with Select, yes a pretty good player, BUT still young for the high school game. Club soccer vs high school soccer; tough transition and playing against older and more mature players (both in physical attributes and mental toughness). Heck, Select was not even challenged in the D1 states, cruising to pretty easy victories (if memory serves). FHS keepers (both of them) benefitted from an awesome back line, as evidenced with the VERY few goals allowed, BUT when challenged, those goals did happen - mistakes, own goals, playing with ball during pass backs, quick kicks...nerves? No bashing intended, just a growth stage all players must go through. Heck I've been there and it can be intimidating (no matter what sport) - only the best of the best are able to overcome and move on to the next level. Next year will be a real test with more seniors graduating than what is expected to fill in (but then again, the same was said about last years class). Keep the cup east, good luck West/OR.

If club (KFC) sticks to it's philosphy, they won't allow it. Something about age appropriate (not grade appropriate) as being the guiding principal.

Wouldn't that mean he will be playing two years up. Most if not all Liverpoolers are Juniors now and isn't Jack a Freshman? Maybe it will only be a one year difference(?)
  20. I'll have to agree with ucsoccer and smokymtnfutbol. However I did think it was exciting - never knew what was gong to happen when ball got close to the 18. Poor one touches, resorting to kick ball style (though there were attempts to control the ball), ball in air way too much (kept heading five, six times in a row several times throughout the game), touch passes that were uncontrollable (adrenaline must have been up). Now time for the second guessing; was the Muth red card foul worth it in the Maryville game? Would he have made the difference? People can debate this for a while. I did, however, think #20 filled in pretty good, but when score #2 happened, d?©j? -vu flashback of the Muth take down gasped through the stands, though not as blatant - #20 did grab at West player to try and slow him down (unsuccessfully), foul was called, but score went in so waived off. No one mentioned the home field advantage West had ??“ field conditions were horrible, very West like. FHS Football coach had grass mowed to dirt level and then killed off remaining grass just days before (unsure why). FHS soccer contingent were definitely not happy with field conditions (BUT not blaming this on loss ??“ champions must win under any circumstances).
  21. Earlier in season I thought West would pull out the upset, very good game, but it didn't happen. This time around, Farragut seems ready; they stepped it up another gear in the Maryville O.T. with a man down. I don't see them letting up, Farragut 3-1.
  22. Matlock - not bad, but not among the best, yet. Still sharing time with Beaver. both keepers have had good years, but each have own flaws that have been taken advantage of (as few as they were). Matlock needs to mature more to get to next level. Beaver there but not the favored one.
  23. Let's see, Muth's "smart" playing cost Farragut one goal and later a two game suspension. Though, he did make-up for the goal by scoring one himself. Will be tough without him in an elimination game vs. West. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  24. Cocky, BUT a good one! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
