  1. I've been to a lot of high school games over the past 15 years, whether as a fan, player or reporter. I can honestly say last night was the most exciting game I've ever seen at this level. Kudos to both teams and coaches. CAK was the better side in the first half, but Carter showed a lot of grit in battling back to take the lead. Sherrod's goal in OT was the best strike I've ever seen from a high school player. That was followed by one of the most unselfish plays I've ever seen from a high school player to tie the game back by CAK. I'd say at least 90 percent of players at any level would have tried to score instead of laying the ball back across the face of the goal in that situation. I was at that end of the field and that goal happened right in front of me. What a great decision by Holt. In the first Golden Goal session I thought CAK had it on a very high cross that was moving all over the place and forced the Carter keeper to just tip it back into play to prevent a goal. CAK had a player come in to knock it back in, but Crockett came out of nowhere to make another save. He played a great game last night. I had him with 16 saves, several of which were high on the difficulty scale. It was a great game to witness, and I couldn't be happier I was sent to cover it. Coaches, please pass along my appreciation to your guys for the effort and quality of play that was displayed last night. I'll be looking for more of the same on Thursday.
  2. That Rossview coach is a clown!!! After all he's only beaten Clarksville more than vice versa over a 4-year span, something that no one else in the history of the district can claim other than possibly Northeast in the early 90s. Besides, how can someone who likes music also coach sports? Under qualified if you ask me. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> SARCASM INTENDED IN THIS POST

  5. I have only been in Knoxville for a few years and have never been to Catholic. I did not know how to get to the other school and there wasn't a way for me to find the game at that point. It had nothing to do with effort, whether that's what you would like to believe or not. I have had no problems with an incorrect location of a game this season so when I got to West and no one was there I assumed one of the teams was being forced to make up a rescheduled district game with it being the final week of the season. I had a situation with another game earlier in the week where that was the case. Don't question my love of the game or my commitment to my job. I'm well aware of the quality of play that was on the field in that game and I've been to plenty of games this year that were nowhere close to as entertaining as that game would have been. I was looking forward to getting to see it.
  6. You are an absolute lifesaver. I don't have to write much, just a little wrap about it. Thanks a ton.
  7. For those who were spectators, players or coaches in this game: I was supposed to cover the game tonight, but I had a miscommunication with my editor and thought the game was at West. When I got to West and no one was there I headed home. If anyone can post player names on goals, assists and saves as well as save numbers for keepers that would be outstanding. Any help anyone can provide for any of those would be greatly appreciated.
  8. Plug for my alma mater. Rossview beat Dickson Co. 2-1 Tuesday night to take the 10-AAA regular season title. R'view a man down for most of that match. Hopefully they learned their lesson with last year's first round district tourney exit and realize the regular season doesn't mean anything, though. It's all about the second season.
  9. Bearden was dominant from the get-go. That's the first time I've gotten to see them play this year, and I have to say it was the most impressive performance of any team I've seen this year. I've seen Farragut and West 3 times each (including against each other), and Bearden was far more impressive tonight than any of the games I saw played by either of them. Granted, one game never tells the whole story.
  10. If that is the case, which I can't imagine having played/watched many games in my life, the keeper who allowed only 7 goals should be going to play at the next level somewhere.
  11. Hello All, I have recently started covering soccer in the Knoxville area for the Shopper-News. I'm the only reporter covering soccer, and I will only be covering a couple games a week. Since it's a weekly paper I'm also supposed to compile other scores from around the area from the week to include along with my stories. Tonight I covered Halls-Oneida (2-2 for anyone interested) and I will be at the Farragut-Sevier County game Thursday. Outside of those two, any games in the Knoxville area you guys can provide me scores on would be great. Here are some of the specific games I could use scores on this week. Thanks in advance for any and all help. Yesterday (Monday) South Doyle at Central Halls at Pigeon Forge Tonight (Tuesday) Central at William Blount Gibbs at Union County Karns at Anderson County Bearden at Alcoa West at Morristown-Hamblen West Thursday Morristown-Hamblen West at Central Karns at Catholic Oak Ridge at Powell Union County at Halls Bearden at South Doyle Clinton at West
