  1. Big game? Franklin is not in the playoffs. Sounds like a troll.
  2. I understand your position. Generally I agree with that. At the same time, I can only try to imagine (never having been in the situation) the pressure being put on the player from various sides. Pretty tough thing (play hard, don't let your team down, don't get hurt, don't lose the scholarship) for a 17-18 year old to deal with. That is the only reason I was willing to give him a pass while at the same time being frustrated.
  3. I hate to see Coach Webb accused of such things and, having some insight, I doubt that they are true. Having a scholarship offered puts the player in a tough position. In this case, you could see the play on the field suffered in what appeared to be an effort to avoid injury. That had to create tension for everyone involved. It is easy to call the player a quitter if not playing at 100% but I can understand his hesitation of getting hurt. While frustrating to watch, I was willing to give the player a pass. This really comes down to how a tough situation is handled. Coach Webb has a program and reputation to protect and honor. I don't disagree with the no practice - no play policy. I respect that. I saw the brothers at the Spring Hill game and I was proud that they came to support the team in the stands. They congratulated the players in the end zone after the game. It appears to me that, once again, the parents get things in a mess. This should have been settled in a meeting with the parents and the coach. Whatever the outcome, it should be kept between them. It is pretty easy to do that - keep your mouth closed. Even worse is to take a turn to, what appears to be, false accusations. I hope these young men learn to handle situations better than the example they have been given in this circumstance. It is sad to see them end their playing time at Franklin in this way rather than their on-field contributions.
  4. Funny! Let the record show, you get the credit for the post due to having the same opinion expressed in different words and from a different perspective. Can CoachT change the stats to reflect this correction? Please continue with your original and exclusive opinions. May everyone be quite and listen to the master. Good job champ, good job.
  5. It seems like the woes of Warren County get discussed here every year. The theme doesn't really change. It's a large school in a rural environment that has lacked football success for decades. I remember the days of Jeff Womack right, Jeff Womack left, and Jeff Womack up the middle. That was the last great era of Pioneer football. What has changed since then? As stated (blamed actually), not the population. It is hard to blame the current county school system. Just take a look at the sports facility recently opened. I understand the frustration with the AD (although I do have a great respect for Todd that goes back to our HS days) but I do think he has hired a strong football coach this time. You can't blame the industrial recruiter for not recruiting a family with a 5 Star son, or the Chamber of Commerce for heaven knows what. The responsibility really falls on the citizens of Warren County. That responsibility includes building football programs at the middle school level. I cannot attest to the state of those programs. However, the high school program is a testament to weak middle school programs. That responsibility includes building community pride that transfers to school pride. It seems community pride has a ceiling above the local community middle schools. There is a lack of unity at the county level. There are many wonderful people in Warren County. The county needs more of those people and more of those people helping with the sports programs. Support the kids by getting out of the stands (or off your couch) and help coach a team or throw a tailgate party. I hate hearing the excuses of being rural and playing in a tough district. Look, no one is saying WC should win the district any time soon. Do you want to be competitive? Do you really want to be competitive? If so, just do this ONE THING. Stop looking at what others can do and start looking at what you can do to support football in the county. Excuses don't make solutions. Just take a positive action each day. Go to the games and cheer for the team, tell the players "good job", drop some cookies by the school for the coaching staff, support the fundraising events, have a tailgate party, help coach a team. Get your friends to do the same. The results will take care of themselves. Warren County, you have only one public county high school to support. Just do it.
  6. I am hoping they make it to the championship game. I hope to see them there.
  7. You are who you are when no one is looking. In this case, when no one knows who you are. As I have said before, your posts on this subject is nothing short of a 13 year old girl melting down over her first break up. You can claim to be whomever you wish you were, but we have seen who you really are. I wish Riverdale well.
  8. Johnny, I don't know who got your panties in a wad, but I would appreciate it if you would not duplicate the same post in multiple threads. Anyone that is interested in the rant, go over to the Girls Basketball thread.
  9. That would be a nice change on here. Where are those Warrior fans?
  10. Congrats on a great season! I hope to see them at the State Tournament.
  11. Thanks for sharing the info. When will the new facilities be open?
  12. Other than a new facility, I am not sure what differentiates it from the crowd. On the down side is the parental drama. Riverdale finds itself in a crowd of great programs that is only going to get bigger. Being a 6A school will draw interest from a good coach. I wish the program well. Support the coach or you will set the program back for years.
  13. You may be correct, but, what makes it "one of the most desirable jobs" in the state?
  14. You have to know that parents being unhappy with a coach is not unique to Riverdale. This episode is like a 13 year old girl telling the school bus about her first breakup. You just want to say "Honey, bless your heart, its going to be ok.". I hope Riverdale finds the perfect coach that sweeps you off your feet and into teenage bliss. Character is not based on what happens to you, its based on how you deal with it.
  15. Boo, I agree that people often paint themselves in a corner when using a broad brush. That applies to your equating "rich" to "structure" and everyone else as "broken".
  16. I was not convinced until they won it on the field. Even though Centennial was a great team this year, that loss gave me doubts Ravenwood could beat Maryville this year. I am glad they proved me wrong. Everyone else had their chance but Ravenwood got it done. Congrats!
  17. Well, I wasn't trying to entertain you. I don't think I have ever seen a person that needed a high school football program as much as you need Whitehaven. I was hoping that you were just an act. But sadly, I don't think it is. I wish Whitehaven many wins. I think you need them badly.
  18. Give him a break. This is his third try at 4th grade. To be fair, he didn't fail. The teachers just didn't do enough to help him learn. No doubt that he has the most academic talent of any kid in the school. Well, any school for that matter. Its just that the teachers don't know how to teach. Just giving you a hard time BHS. No ill will intended.
  19. As Floyd the barber would say: "Everyone complains about the weather but nobody does anything about it." I encourage you to do something about. Get involved and invest in someone.
  20. Soft kids usually come from soft parenting.
  21. I agree with that, however, both of those schools are in the same county and were traditional games. That does not take anything away from Centennial, they are a great team this year and building a great program.
  22. Don't you know our dad's were thinking the same think about our generation. And they were right.
  23. I am not disagreeing with you. Just surprised they would make the trip due to a few reasons.
  24. It is fine to just disagree Donnie. Again, it is amusing when folks point fingers and over react about people they claim are pointing fingers and over reacting. I must say, you seldom fail to entertain.
