  1. Probably to make sure that each person is only registered on one state team. If not, then you could someone register to play on multiple teams in different states.
  2. To register a player in Tenn. that lives in Georgia requires filling out the form you refer to and a $10 fee to Georgia, I guess to handle the administrative cost. In the Chatta. area there are quite a few kids that play on a Chatta. club team but lives in Georgia.
  3. This is why more teams are looking at not playing state. For a cost of $750, you have no idea how many games you are going to get, it could be as little as 3; with the way Premier is being done the seeding is based as much if not more on the previous year results; and the frustration of having to deal with a schedule that as of this date we still have no idea when we will have to play, so it is impossible to schedule any other games or tournaments.
  4. Having two brackets is the whole problem. With 2 teams coming through the Premier league and the other 4 coming through the state league, there is a good chance that the those two groups never play each other during the season, and if they do it does not count, because the teams are in different leagues. So the second team in the Premier league group has a big advantage, gained just because they finished second the year before.
  5. If the only result of state was to just come out with a winner, then I could agree with you, but one of the results of the state tournament is that the top two teams get to play in the Premier league the next year. That is very important in that both teams get very good competition and automatic entries into the next year state tournament with the top two seeds. So while you might think it is complaining, I look it is trying to make it the best and fairest system for all the kids. We had a better system several years ago when we had the semis and that is still the fairest way to try and have the best two teams in the finals.
  6. When a team registers to play in Tennessee the club registrar puts in the division the team wants to play in. TSSA does not assign a team to a division.
  7. I believe that to make it best for all teams, the goal should be to end up with the top two teams playing in the finals. When TSSA took away the semi-finals a few years ago, they made it much easier to not end up with the top two teams in the finals. If you happen to fall into the bracket with the top team in the state, you have little chance to make it to the finals, even though you might have the second best team in the state. And last year in the boys brackets, there were teams playing for 3rd and 4th place in the state league, because they would be missing players that play for the high school football teams and would have no chance if they played on Friday night. One team I know of has four kids that are kickers for their school football teams, fortunately, many of those teams are not good enough to make the playoffs. Last year we did not know about the Friday night games until mid September when the state posted the proposed schedule which put all the kids that had been asked to kick football in a bad position if their team made the playoffs. I would love to see TSSA go back to a system that gave all teams a fair chance to end up with the top two teams in the finals.
  8. David - while I can not tell you where all the money goes, I will mention that the winner of each age in D1 goes to the regionals and there is not another entry fee for that, and TSSA sends several staff members to the regionals and you can be looking at 6 - 7 nights in a hotel for each staff member. I am sure some of the entry fee money for DI league is used to pay for these expenses.
  9. The Executive Director is hired by the Board of Directors.
  10. Catholic - 1, Notre Dame - 1 Catholic scored on PK, ND scored about 7 min. to go in the game on corner kick
  11. Chattanooga had over an inch of rain on Friday. There was not a field in the area that was not soft. But we played the year end rec tournament of over 500 kids and did no damage to any of the fields at Camp Jordan. The fields are managed very well.
  12. Coach Weekly was at the Dalton vs. McCallie game that evening.
  13. Bledsoe County is a new soccer team that is co-ed. Anyone that knows Jim Schermerhorn, knows he would never run up a score on any team. Bledsoe only got the ball into the ND end of the field a couple times. ND played two goalies, and I do not remember the starting goalie touching the ball and the backup goalie touched it once. ND played all the young players they had. There was a time that Bledsoe played about 15 minutes with only 10 players on the field, just because they miscounted their subs. ND had to play Beldsoe because they are in their district and they will improve over the year, but they really should be playing a JV schedule this year. While there are many ways to not run up a score, sometimes they do not work. Even the ND young kids were a lot more experienced soccer players compared to the Bledsoe players and you can pass and pass, but sooner or later in soccer, you are going to shoot if the ball stays in front of the net that long.
