  1. I hope you don't mind. I am going to steal this quote. I have never heard anything more true in my life.
  2. I have thought that from the beginning. Anything thing with the word "Christian" in it from a business stand point I have learn to shy away from. If I open up the yellow pages looking for a business I stay clear of the one that say, "Christian Owned" or have the Fish symbol on the add. **Now before everyone starts a pray chain for me or starts posting scripture.*** I am a Christian and believe in the Bible 100%. But, also I have learned there is alot if not most people think that everyday rules do apply to them cause their soul has been saved. I have been burned by Christians who adevertize themselves and seen this entitlment mentality in the interviews from Pastor Ron in this situation.
  3. Well, then someone needs to place a call to the TSSAA. Webb has Rec. League teams that they work closely with in Knox Co. It is so obvious and out in the open this must not be a violation that the TSSAA cares about for DII schools. I know 4 or 5 yrs ago, I had a running back on my Rec. league team that I had to place body guards around to keep the Webb faithful away from just so we could warm up. I did call the TSSAA at that time and let them know what was going on. I will not quote them word for word, but the impression they gave me was. DII teams have free reign over kids that have not made it to High School yet. Athletic recruiting is prohibited at every level of the TSSAA. See page 15, section 17 at the link below: http://tssaa.org/Handbook/handbook.pdf I am fully aware of what the handbook says. I am not a Webb fan or a fan of any DII program. But, I am fully aware how Webb school skirts around this rule and it is wrong IMO, but within the guide lines. This is copy/pastes right from the website HTV provided. A. The Recruiting Rule is not intended to prevent a member school from marketing its total school program or conducting programs designed to attract students based on the school’s overall educational and extracurricular programs. However, such programs must not be used as a method for securing students for athletic purposes. Examples of programs or things that would be permissible include, but are not limited to: 1. With the permission of the administration of both schools, a school may present programs or give information to elementary, junior high, or middle schools, which explain their total educational program. There should be a diversity of presenters, speaking on a variety of topics to students of all interests. What they do. They go to the Middle Schools of players they are intersted in. Hold an assembly for all that wants to attend. But, the players have already been infromed they need to go. They make their presentations, and who ever applies "so be it". But, they make sure the player meets all the standards. Bottomlnie...This thread is about GCA getting caught cheating. And I have shared my opinions on this matter. I am not defended any program, nor am I trying to boost one up here. So, find more websites and tell me how wrong I am again. This is how it is done, and the TSSAA obviously does not care. You need to get in touch with them and try to show them your inteligence, not me. Because, I can not change a thing.

  5. I will go back to my last post..I would just about guarantee that all schools cheat on some level. The thing here is GCA got caught. As for your therory about Karns, it would not surprize me if any Karns supporter would do anything to help that program. But, has for your "Super Midget" team situation, there is a few things you need to take into consideration. How many of the players, were zoned to go the other schools. How many got legit transfers? How many may have moved? The ones that went to Webb, may have been recrutied, and since Webb is DII, that is not a violation. And finally, for the kids that may have lied about their residence and went to another school. It is up to the school system to determine that, not coaches or Ath. dept.. So in all, that is not a great example to provide.
  6. I would say all schools committ violations on some level every year. Bottomline...If you get caught you need to take your medicine. As long as the TSSAA requires teams to keep score, somebody is going to get the advantage in form or another. I think, the TSSAA punisment is in line with this violation.
  7. Is Steger, the guy from Upper N. East TN, that coach for about a month at Bearden before he arrived there?
  8. I have to agree with you 100% on this matter. This attitude is what swayed my decision.
  9. I have no affliation with GCA or the church itself, and GCA does not compete with the school I support. So as an outsider looking in, I do feel sorry for the innocent kids at GCA that this is going to affect. I feel the TSSAA should grant an exceptions to the student athletes that would like to transfer to other schools to be able to compete in post season play. But, I feel the punisment is very appropriate in this situation. If my memory serves me correct, I think this is the second time that GCA has been caught using an ineligible player in thier sports program and they have only had athletics for 6 yrs. This is just my opinion, and you know what people say about opinions.
  10. I would like to know myself. But, wish him well wherever he lands.
  11. I have learned that HVA has hired Coach Scott away from Bearden High. This is a great hire IMO. Great coach and offensive mind. If this school could get some above average players this coaching staff could be deadly. Coach Jones is proving himself as a good leader in is Asst hires. The only questioned I have is why would Coach Taylor at Bearden would let Coach Scott slip away like that?
  12. If anyone wins a title from Knoxville it will be a suprise to everyone, this year. I think Nic Maxwell from Knoxville Karns has a good a shot as anyone in 112 lbs. You could go out on a limb and say he MIGHT upset someone. But, it will not be a surprise to anyone.
  13. I stand corrected on the enrollment at Karns. My mind was stuck in 2008 before HVA opened when the enrollment was around 2000.
  14. You might want to get a petition toghether to get all your teachers replaced too. This is the most incoherent rant, I have ever read.
  15. The reason you get negative answers is because, Karns is one of the worst, if THE worst program in the state of TN. Karns has one of the largest student bodies in the state and has had sucess in other sports. Also, you have a fairly good tallent on your football team, but they can never put together a respectable win loss record. You have hit the "nail on the head" also, the school, students, community, and coaches have to change thier mindset. You need to also change your "Pop Warner" program too. Karns has one of the largest programs in Knox Co. In the Super Midget (8th grade) league. Karns (as of 2 yrs ago) would have 35-40 players on the team and would play in the lower tallent level brackets, better know as thr "B" league. They do dominate this league, but that is like bragging about being the tallest midget. Also, with that many players, not many get the gametime experince they need, and the ones who play, play against lower tallent levels. So, IMO, Karns is getting kids with little to no experince, and the ones with the experince start playing kids that are just as good, they fold under the pressure in high school. It does not take, a genius to coach a highschool team, but you can't be an idiot either. Your coaches need to find a system that works for the players you have, and stick with it.
  16. A little harse. But it is the truth.
  17. How is Chris Sensenbaugh doing this year? I have not heard a peep?
  18. Good game Eagles. Your team made a game of it. I hope your young because it looks like you have alot to build on. Devrin Young was hamperd by the flu. That is the only excuse, I can make. We looked like total poo tonight.
  19. We just have stands on the home side of the field. I would get there early just because this our first home game.
  20. Man, I tell you, I hate to see all this bad emotions from some of you WB fans. I really think your coaches and team did a great job in this game.
  21. To all Rhea County fans, Just to let you know, the gentleman that is posting under the name "Orangeblur" is a respected and legitimate sports journalist, that has played the game of football. His predictions come facts surrouding the game and the teams playing it. Please do not take any of his comments to heart. Now, my predictions are 90% fan and 10% knowledge of the game. Take anything I say how you want too. I do like to stir the pot.. Good luck to all and safe travels to Rhea Co players, coaches, parents, and fans. The info that, I now have about the health of a few of our key players, I am not so confident in my predictions. If our starting RB,QB,DE,FS, and kicker are out or playing under the weather, that really does change things. If this is the case, I see Coach Taylor keeping the ball on the ground and running it with the FB Peyton Landers. I still say Bearden wins in a squeaker, 17 to 7.
  22. there are several bearden kids with flu like symptons all key players Devrin Young Dillon Wilker Kyle Riemer Cisco Carter... if these kids dont play...RC has a chance...if they play , its a blow out...... Carlos, I knew that Dervin is bad sick, talked to Sherman and Danyel a few times on facebook and the phone. I told them, imo it would be best if he sat this one out. I would hate to see him go out less than 100% and risk an injury. I figured Wilker would still be out because of his knee. I also think that would be best too. Ireally like our D'end play last week and feel like they should have it under control. Now if Kyle and Cisco are sick? That scares the poo out of me. We are as weak as rain water in the back up QB area, andd need that foot of Cisco's bad. If all 4 of these guys are out. I think we will see alot of Peyton Landers grinding it out the hard way. Are you going to be at the game or are you in LA? Line goes down..Bearden by 9..
  23. Yeah, Devrin Young is the only player Bearden relies on. He is going to snap, hand-off, and throw the ball to himself. He will even hold the the ball when he kicks it threw the up rights on extra points. I think you guys may only see a limited D. Young tonight, that is if he plays at all. He has been pretty sick, this week. So, I would say you will see the ball spread alittle more around to other players. I got in trouble alot during my school days at Bearden for gambling and few times as an adult. So, with that said, lets put all the insulting comments to bed and put your money where your mouth is. I will spot Rhea Co 11 1/2 points. Gentlemen place your bets. It would have been 25 point spot, but knowing that #33 may not make it to the field, I think Rhea Co. Defense may keep the point spread more respectable. Bottomline..With or without Devrin Young, Rhea Co. does not win this game and Bearden will show they have other offensive weapons. Don't know where you are getting insulting comments from. In all due respect to Young he is a good athlete. But if the other 10 players out there don't do there job Young don't do his. I don't see that insulting. Well, Bearden would not be 3-0 if the rest of the team did not do thier job. They destroyed Walker Valley in a team effort. They have had to come from behind wins, in a team effort. Trust me, the people that want Devrin to succeed the most, is the other 10 players on the field.
