  1. Definite no to ex-Page coach. Need better than a warm body, Haislip is a D1 prospect.
  2. Rookie job for someone, you have to start somewhere. Good thing about this job, a .500 season would make you look like a hero.
  3. What is happening at Centennial? Have they named a coach?
  4. Hey Cornpops, you made some great points. Curious if it is true Coach Williams turned down the Centennial job. I have also seen on various postings his daughter is in middle school at Heritage, true? Other postings have him joining Hillary Maxwell at Riverdale. Any light you can shed would be appreciated.
  5. Disappointing news on Memorial Day. No time for DH to holiday, the clock is ticking. With or without a plan B, surely they interviewed more than one candidate. Any one have any idea on how many people applied?
  6. No one from Williamson County mentioned. Best 2: Jaclissa Haislip G/F 5'11 Independence Madeline Hudson C 6'4 Ravenwood
  7. With the limitations on asst. coaches in WCS, plus the need for them to be teachers, most people will take the path of least resistance and coach in another county. WCS administrators will always look for the best people available regardless. WCS does need to rethink their policy on assistants and help both the coach and student atheletes. I can't imagine WCS limiting assistant / student teachers willing to learn and help the general student population. These same people may find their way back, much like Coach Maxwell found her way back to Rutherford County.
  8. Really hope it is not ex-Page coach. The last few years saw the Page program spiral down. Preference would be a young energetic coach with the drive and desire to make an outstanding program. Then it would be up to the Indy nation to make them feel appreciated and wanted LONG TERM.
  9. Only Centennial and Independence are still open. If Indy had the person they wanted, Dr. Webb would pull the trigger.
  10. You are correct, I am frustrated. I do believe in DH, just don't appreciate the lack of communication.
  11. Somebody tell us something! School is out tomorrow and not a peep on a new coach. Not a peep on a summer program. The silence is deafening.
  12. If so, why did he apply in the first place?
  13. I heard Williams turned the position down.
  14. Getting down to the wire to hire a coach. The following is sports calendar from TSSAA. End of school until June 22, 2008: 15 days of practice permitted, 10 of which may involve competition June 22, 2008-July 5, 2008: Dead Period July 7, 2008-July 26, 2008: Weight training and conditioning permitted. No open facilities and no practice.
  15. Is this past season's assistant coach, Clint Jezierny, working with the team? He coached the JV, and is a faculty member teaching US History.
  16. This is true, Dr. Webb is transferring to Kenrose Elementary. Transfer is effective beginning of July. She will not leave unfinished business, she is to professional for that.
  17. Friday seems to be a favorite day for announcements. Is this Indy's day?
  18. I agree, Hillsboro is the front runner. All schools are interested in helping their kids get better, BHS & RHS have their coaches in place. Those schools lacking coaches are just getting impatient. I must admit I've had my moments of skeptism waiting on the new coach for Independence.
  19. Rumor has them announcing this Friday.
  20. Interesting quote from another board. This is why any administration interested moving a program forward must act now. I know you guys are big fans and you're impatient to get your new coach in and to get things rolling. But, he/she could not have been practicing with the high school girls right now anyway. It's against TSSAA rules. Now is the perfect time for the hire since TSSAA has re-instituted a five-day practice period at the end of the school year, and the coach will have five more practice dates before camps. Those 10 practices will provide plenty of time to start installing his/her system and to get to know the girls, then summer camps start, and there's nothing better for a new coach and team to bond and learn than team camp. If the new coach is hired now, the program won't suffer. Just provides a bit more excitement for the girls going into the summer camp season. Sounds like all three of the candidates mentioned in this thread have something to offer. Good luck.
  21. It has been over a month since Coach Maxwell resigned. No word on a replacement. No word on a direction for the girls summer program. School is out in about a week. The time is growing short and the girls are just dangling in space wondering what is going on. Someone needs to step up and communicate. If the girls need to find camps on their own, it would be nice to know now so dates and finances can be determined by individual families. I really hate this for the girls. They deserve better.
  22. Don't mind his posts, but he can lose the Riverdale logo when RHS is not the topic. Yes she is. Your program is over the top lucky to have her.
  23. Independence should be concentrating their search on a proven coach, possibly with some college experience. The coach should be willing to build a program, strength, conditiioning, position skills, camps etc. The person should also reach out to the middle schools of Heritage and Page to help identify and develope incoming classes. Only then will Independence break this cycle of coaching turnover. The person getting this job will find a community willing to embrace a good communicator and motivator for our student athletes.
  24. Why would he want to coach a school his daughters are not attending? Is he eligible to coach in WCS?
