  1. Will Diego play? Will Oak Ridge keepers split time? Will Plummer be back?
  2. Good luck, G. You are a first-class coach. Congrats on your milestone this year. Good luck in state.

Ooltewah had a good squad, too. Had things played out differently in Cleveland's district, Ooltewah would be at state right now. No doubt in my mind that the Owls and Cleveland are stronger than Blackman and Riverdale. McMinn, too, is a well-coached team, and did what is necessary to compete with strong opponents. My point is this: Yes, Brentwood has not lost, but all of Cleveland's losses are what I would call ""good" losses. I really believe (and hope because Chattanooga continues to get the short straw when they have a team represented in AAA state) that Cleveland can beat Brentwood.
  4. Honestly, I was surprised that the Riverdale/McMinn game was so close. I think Riverdale will lose first round of state unless they turn things around.
  5. I think it is just a matter of who takes advantage of all their opportunities in each game. There are a handful of teams that people expected to be here that are not and I am sure that there are other teams who feel like they could have been here if a couple of breaks had gone their way. Point being, the teams that made it have taken advantage of enough opportunities in enough games to make it to this point. All the teams in state are quality teams so it may be a matter of who is "on their game" the most right now.
  6. Perhaps the stars align for a Baylor / Father Ryan re-match (I was very surprised that Father Ryan got 3 in the net against a stingy Baylor defense), though I hope that McCallie can get it done against FR.
  7. Hate to be argumentative but I could not disagree more. I think that there are a lot of quality of AAA teams (some that did not even make state) that would give Catholic all sorts of trouble. But your comment highlights the problem: we have too many state champions. How great would it be for all these quality teams to square off against one another and crown one champ (unrealistic I know, but it would be one heck of a tourney).

    Thoughts

    I'm lost. Can someone explain?
  9. Cleveland is strong. I have not seen Brentwood play. Looking forward to a good game. Brentwood should not take them for granted. Brentwood has had some very close games (as far as score goes) so it would be a mistake to think that this is a given. Cleveland has been in the top ten in euro since the beginning of the year. Should be a good game.

    Boyd Buch

I believe that the poster was referring to Madison's soccer tradition. Congratulations to the other Madison teams that have made state. Being a soccer forum, I am glad that now we have all been enlightened that it is a school that has only had a program for five years "so it's relatively unheard of". So, what soccer tradition are we talking about here?? I will assume that the poster was being sarcastic (or hope).

If you want state, you have to count on going through Brentwood. So you get to take care of business earlier rather than later. Good luck. I am rooting for you.
  12. Could not have asked for a better final four. I was surprised at that CBHS beat JP2 so soundly. Any details from this game?

I am not a Boyd Buch fan and I have not seen Madison play so I cannot dispute the score. But it is unnecessary to subtlety attack someone and suggest that they are ignorant of TN soccer because they have not heard of a particular school. This is especially true when it is a school that has not been to the state tournament at all in at least a decade. In any event, I wish both teams the best of luck.
  14. I have not drunk the KoolAid re: Blackman and Riverdale yet, perhaps because I have not seen them play. Russ does traditionally have his teams ready for the post season though. It will be interesting to see what happens on Saturday and where winners end up in the brackets.
  15. There is an ebb and flow to districts. Sometimes they are strong and sometimes they are weak. I think MVM's beef is that region 3 is easily looked over because lately the teams at the bottom of those districts (5 & 6) have been very weak and the teams that do come into sectionals never really make any noise. But the teams that are traditionally at the top of that region can certainly play. This year the top teams in that region were Cleveland, Ooltewah, and McMinn. I believe that on a given day Cleveland and Ooltewah could hang with any of Euro's top ten in state. And if things had played out the way most expected, both teams would have had the chance. But Cleveland (District 5 runner up) eliminated Ooltewah (District 6 winner) in the region semifinals after being upset in their own district by McMinn (Cleveland did get payback tonight though). So now the burden is on them to represent the region well in sectionals. I think they have a team that can make some noise from here on out.
  16. Region Finals: Region 3 Cleveland 4 McMinn County 0 All goals scored in the second half
  17. Where in the world do you live?? Chattanooga has never been considered middle or "middle east"! Wow!
  18. Gotcha. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Good choices, incidentally, of the players from K-town.
  19. Did not mean to sound aggressive, dins. As G said, just thought a different thread title might be in order.
  20. Thank you! Any list of an All-East TN team that does not have Daniel Tackling on the one of the first two teams is quite simply ridiculous. Looks like someone is having a hard time getting out of K-town.
  21. The following was taken from a previous post: They were lacking a large chunk of their scoring punch. In the previous game while the were up by 3 goals, near the end of the game Will Maddox dissented over a throw-in near half line in front of all spectators. He addressed his dissent LOUDLY, focused not on the call, but directed at the referee. He had been cautioned earlier in the game, so it was his second caution. He will also have to set out this next game per TSSAA's rules regarding an ejected player. Sounds like a soft red to me just a lack of understanding re: the rules surrounding a soft red. So, yes...a soft red was previously mentioned.
  22. A player does not have to sit out an additional game for a soft red.
  23. I don't think anyone was offended. I was not offended, anyway. Just thought it interesting that you chose the word struggling for a team that is ranked where they are and has the results that they have.
  24. IMO: Four teams in state will be CBHS, Baylor, McCallie and Father Ryan.
  25. Very true, spike. JP2 and Christian Brothers having to play is huge for the other three teams that make it to state.
