  1. Do I remember hearing back when Boeck was hired at MC that he use to be at SP?? IF so was he part of the SP football program? That could be an advantage to the Warriors if Boeck know how Vic coaches...just a thought
  2. "Injuries, whether accidential or intentionally inflicted, can become permanent crippling ailments for the players. A Pirate player just recently narrowly avoided such an occurance." Are they, (school, doctors and parents) going to let Ty play after his injury??
  3. Glad to hear that Ty is improving. We may talk smack here but deep down we wish the best for everyone and never want to see a kids dreams crushed. May God continue to Bless you Ty and the Robinson family. You have a great support system backing you all the way.
  4. Prayers from the North end of the Valley.. May God continue to work and be the great physician. What exactly happened?
  5. Don't get me wrong I don't mean he's not committed to the HS program, which I am sure he is, just not sure about the start/commitment to the lower levels.
  6. OP you are right, the basketball program can not start in 5/6th grade, it needs to start at the elementary schools. You have to have those that want to work, work, work to get the program started and I don't see that in SP at this time. Maybe the new gym will be an boost to the HS program to get involved but at this time the kids are all about football (as they should be) and then they just make time for basketball. I like Coach Phillips but don't know that he is ready to commit the extra time at the moment. And I can say the same for the other valley schools as well. Go Tigers Hear us roar!!!!!!!
  7. WE'RE FIRED UP AND READY!!!! Gooooooo Tigers I didn't realize that the Barton guy was a teacher.
  8. That's true PurpleGrad. As in alot of schools you have to fill the teaching positions and then see who wants to coach a team. Good luck Coach Thacker...u have our support!!!
  9. Sorry Scara-didn't mean for it to sound like I was posting at or toward you, it is just a general post to all. Someone had posted that Pickett had been hired, I never heard that he was hired just talk that he wanted the job. How does one find out about these job openings?? I know that jobs are posted on the MC School Board website but don't think I ever saw this position was open.
  10. Lets not run him off before he gets a chance to prove himself, everyone deserves that. Best of Luck to the new coaching staff. ButI does make you wonder if there were any other applicants for the position since there seems to be a lack of experiance. Does this mean that all three area teams are being coached by former MC alumni? Is Jasper's coach from Jasper or Chattanooga area??
  11. I have heard around Whitwell that we have a new basketball coach, Heath Thacker. Does anyone know anything about him? All I have heard is that he graduated from MC and played basketball there. Whats the scoop?
  12. I am looking for an old friend that played and helped with Giles County Football. Steven Sigmon. I think it was back in the mid 80's that he played and helped in the early 90's. If any of you know Steven and his where abouts I would appreciate a response. Thanks!!
  13. Sorry that I assumed Rodman. But the Lords Army is one of the best to be serving!! Thank you for spreading the word. [ quote name=Rodman15' date='Jun 27 2008 - 06:17 AM' post='826796137] Thanks for the thoughts, but I am not actually working for the US Military. I appreciate those who are, but I am actually just workin in the "Lord's Army" Over here doing mission work. But I do appreciate the comments. And seeing another culture really makes you realize how important an education is. It really needs to be one of our top priorities. But while I am not serving in the military, be thankful to those who are. America really IS the greatest country in the world.
  14. Speaking for myself and not the rest of Whitwell, I think it is a much needed advancement for our educational system. I have spoke my peace earlier in this discussion and I still say built it and they will come. Again, if you don't want the school and worried about the "travel time" maybe leave some of the schools to the south out of the consolidation and either be private or still funded by the county. My opinion.....and mine alone.
  15. Very nice post Rodman and well said!!! Thank you for serving our country..my God continue to bless and look over you and the rest of our men and women.
  16. Geno, you might want to cross the state line before you start saying the Chiefs don't have the following SHS and BHS had.
  17. I didn't respond to anything about WV because I don't know anything about them other than wham Bill has posted with the classes.
  18. OP..yea it does start in grade school and right now our kids face more in their homes than any of us faced growing up. We got daddies that go running off for other women, leaving their kids at home to be raised by a single mom, moms out smoking crack, dealing drugs and doing what knot with whomever. OP you really should take a day and go volunteer in some classrooms. You would be amazed what these kids are having to go though, they will tell you "my daddy don't live with me anymore, my dads in jail, mom and dad was fussing last night and I couln't get any sleep, no one would help me learn my spelling words." I know of a child right now that is being retain because her parents went through a divorce during the school year and it consumed the poor child. It breaks my heart, but breaks my heart evenmore that folks seem to think that when the child leaves the school the work is done and if they don't get it then its the teachers fault. THEN you got your children that are product of mom and dad smoking crack....and that is a whole other ballgame in the classroom. And yea keeping up with the Jones is important to some but alot of working parents are working because they have to just to make ends meet. I know lots of parents who would kill to stay home with their kids but it just doesn't work that way sometimes. OP..I think we finally agreed on something. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  19. The NCLB is a bunch of crap....thanks for something else to deal with George. Why is MC the only school with CDC classes?
  20. Whow...I think I will enroll at WV...that is amazing!!! Sure wish we had classes like that around here.
  21. As we all know we are fighting a loosing battle when you talk to OP. He knows it all and is always right, just read all his post from all the boards. It is hard to comprehend how someone/anyone can not see how 1 school is much better than 3.....hands down education wise and financially. It will never happen until the Old folks get over the brightness of the lights, or die off. But in all respect it is not up to us, the community, it is up the our School Board and if they want to consolidate then by george we will consolidate. If SP doesn't like it then let them become a city school and be on their mary way. They have a new facility so when the school falls in around them at least they will have a nice warm place to have classes or let Lodge and the Cornbread Festival build them another school.
  22. sorry Grad but I don't think that it worked out.....i heard different this weekend
  23. PREACH IT BROTHER PURPLEGRAD..........PurpleGrad will be holding Sunday morning sunrise services at the MC Football field with Bill#49 leading us in song...yall join us to hear the gospel.
