Great Freestyle/Greco State Tournament today. Big thank you to the Indiana referees that called the tournament. They were top notch.

TNAAU and TWF are already looking at forming this partnership.

I agree with the order in which the Iroman was wrestled by keeping folkstyle last. Also anytime you have a regular freestyle/greco tournament then freestyle should be last for the reasons mentioned above. Many times in the past when greco was the last style there wasn't anyone left to wrestle.

I don't believe we could make our schedule much different than it already is. No one will want to run tournaments in early April because of all the kids we have on National teams and attending National tournaments at that time. The TN Ironman is usually the first well attended tournament of our season because it takes place after AAU National Duals and Ohio TOC. This year we had competition with Eastern Worlds. For Freestyle and Greco to grow in TN we have to give the season just the 4-5 weeks of competition they ask for with no other interuptions. 5 weeks out of the whole year is all we are looking for. It sounds real easy to me.

For quite some time the rules were making big changes almost every year. That has slowed some now. But it normally takes a couple of actual tournaments to really get the hang of the rules. But there is no shortage of willing/knowledgable freestyle and Greco coaches in the Clarksville area.

We have got to start doing a better job at deconflicting schedules. I'm afraid we're in for more of the same during freestyle/Greco state. Another Folkstyle tournament in middle TN on that very same day.

I had no idea which style was being wrestled first but planned on our guys wrestling all styles anyway. Now if you were told specifically one thing and yet another happened then I can understand your frustration. But let's try and build up freestyle/Greco in this state rather than take away though. My club plans to continue our 2 hour trip to the Chattanooga area 2-3 times each spring to help advance TN freestyle/Greco wrestling.

I'll have more kids to add for this later from Team Clarksville/Knuckleheads. But definitely add Christian Isbell to the list at 84lb or 77lb for now.

It's that day again! "Fight Night" is tonight at the CHS wrestling building from 6:00-7:30pm.

This is usually the largest freestyle/Greco tournament of the season and you get to wrestle Folkstyle also. This is also a great opportunity for the K-8th grade AAU kids to try out the new styles without buying the $40 USA card. K-8th only need the regular $14 or $16 AAU card to compete in all 3 styles this weekend only.

I totally agree with Josh's post. I don't think we can adjust the freestyle/Greco schedule much from the current blueprint. We really need to be finished with state before graduations start. Some graduations will start the week after we hold state this year. If we wait till after TOC to start our freestyle/Greco schedule then we would have a very short season. De-conflicting with instate Folkstyle tournaments is a bigger issue I believe. 4-5 weeks of open schedule is all I really believe we are asking for from the entire year for freestyle/Greco.

Thanks for putting this tournament on. Some of our wrestlers got 10 or more matches. I'm definitely glad we made the trip.

The bad thing about this tournament is the fact it takes place on the same day as the Ironman tournament in Murfreesboro. The Ironman is the biggest offseason tournament in TN that offers wrestling for high schoolers. We just need to be smarter and deconflict our schedues better. Right now the Freestyle/Greco state tournament has another middle TN tournament to compete with also.
