  6. I'm being told by a lot of folks that have much experience running large state level tournaments that we could make it happen on 8 mats. Here is just one initial proposal on how it could work. 7. We have a great facility identified that would be staffed by folks who ran a TSSAA State Tournament for over a decade. We just need to put some heads together and figure out how to make it work on 8 mats without loosing wrestlers. If we really want a nice facility that would be a great atmosphere for wrestlers and fans then Austin Peay State University in Clarksville is the place. If we really don't care WHERE it's at as long as it's its a great facility then let's get behind moving it here.
  8. Fight nights are all live wrestling/live matches. No instruction.
  9. So are Yall having a fight night?
  10. Russianbear,Please let me know how I can help in any way possible. I always wanted to run a tournament at Austin Peay and initiated the contact with Mr Van Der Merwe that brought the AAU Top 100 Tournament there in December. Mr. Reeves did make an appearance at that event. Specifics on how to make it work on 8 mats is something we are lacking.
  11. The Knuckleheads fight night will require a USA card only. It does not have to be the $40 full access card though. The $15 limited USA card is fine. This enables us to include both MS and HS wrestlers and have everyone covered with insurance. We are pushing our first Fight Night back to the 19th of March. The original date (12th) is during our spring break.
  12. I hear it's a TSSAA rule but I've never personally seen it. It is followed religiously here in Clarksville Montgomery County. Our MS and HS wrestlers cannot be on the same mat at the same time. The only time our MS and HS wrestlers could be on the same mat together would be in a club setting using AAU or USA insurance. I know the private schools are different but some public schools make their own rules too.
  13. Predictions can always be done by guessing where kids might be. I'm sure even you Durdan could come up with some pretty accurate predictions.
  14. AAU State is taking place this weekend. It is now an open tournament with no qualification.
  15. The board is kinda slow today. Anyone care to list their state Champion projections?
  16. We have a great place for a nice tournament in Clarksville at the Austin Peay State University Dunn Center. Everyone who attended the AAU Top 100 there in December can tell you it's a 1st class facility. We would have to make it work with 8 mats though because that's all we can fit on the main floor. It's a very nice venue that would offer a sweet deal. The APSU Athletic Director is wrestling friendly and wants to bring events in. So if we can make it work with 8 mats then we have the perfect spot.
  17. Indian, I'm not sure about that but my instinct tells me all college programs must consider title 9 now. Anyone else have some insight?
  18. What can we do to attract new athletic department college wrestling programs into this state? Many states surrounding TN have incorporated many new college programs over the last few years. States like Georgia, Arkansas, Kentucky and now Florida have started up college wrestling programs. I know NCAA Div 1 teams would be a long shot but I'm talking about teams at the NAIA, Junior College and NCAA Div II and III levels. An institution like Bethel University in McKenzie, TN seems like a perfect candidate. Starting a program there would most likely help kickstart HS wrestling in that part of the state (NW TN). It would also give our graduating HS seniors more choices to further their wrestling careers. The Georgia wrestling community really made a push just a few years back for college wrestling and now they have 3-4 programs. What can we do as Tennesseans to make that happen here?
  19. Steven Weist is wrestling in MS this year. He is one of the Mt Juliet studs moving up to HS next season.
  20. We shall see. As good as Mt Juliet did in the Region Individual plus only losing one starter, they may be the team to beat in Region 7 next year. Some definitely don't want to acknowledge that for whatever reason. I believe they made an excellent hire before last season. Things look to be turning around big over there.
  21. One of those schools that you mentioned in sort of a negative way (Mt Juliet) may be the team to beat in Region 7 next year. They came in 3rd in the Region Individual, only lose one senior starter, have the most state qualifiers returning and have studs moving up. Looks like they may be getting it right.
  22. Can't help but notice the totals for the three regions making up the area around Nashville (5,6,7). 44 state placers from the mid state. As mentioned earlier, movement toward state parity increases each year.
