  1. Congrats to the Mavs. Coach Gillum has done an outstanding job with this group of kids. He is a fine christian man and deserves this. Him and Coach Price are two of the brightest minds when it comes to offense and they do an outstanding job, obviously. The defense, under Other Price, has done alot with such a small d-line. They bring them from everywhere. Gary Terry continues to do a great job with special teams and the movitavtion of the players! But most importantly, the players on this team have shown so much courage and fight this year! They are a true TEAM. They play harder and more of a team than any other team I have seen this year. The Williams kid and Wilson are stars, but each week someone seems to rise up! They have made this community proud! Go MAVS beat Columbia! clinton sure was confident this game!
  2. AC's offense has not been as effective as early in the season (one dimensional is probably reason). But when they throw as well as they do, why would you run it. I think the key to the game is AC's defense. Outside of 2 games (Morristown East and Powell) the defense has held opponents to about 10 points per game. Which team shows up is the question. If Hazelhurst doesn't play, i think AC wins by a few scores. Clinton's defense has given up more points against Halls and Central and Hardin Valley. Three really bad offenses. Clinton has not faced an offense like AC brings to the table (same for AC too). I look for AC to have big numbers again. Clinton's defense can either blitz or sit back, but either way they will have hands full. The WR for AC is the most talented kid this county has seen since Scotty Witt. And they have the accurate passer to get him the ball. Stone and Hazelhurst are really talented as well, but raw talents goes to Wilson. What will be really exciting is when these teams square off again in the quarterfinals.
  3. AC can finish 3rd. If A-E beats Kingston, AC is third and kingston is fourth. I wish the tie breaker would be something other than overall record. Has kingston played anyone above 3-A this year? It hurts teams, like AC, to play better competition.
  4. Turnovers have not helped AC over the last two weeks. And the offense has seemed to gone to more of a power look instead of spreading them out, like they did last year. But i don't think that has anything to do with it either. They just need to protect the football and get come confidence back.
  5. yellowjacket. I'm sure coach kerr didn't push is OC Price. Seems to me that Coach Kerr has lightened up on his coaches these days. AC does more on offense now than they have since kerr has been there. I understand that many do not like him, but he has won everywhere he has been. Sure only 1 state title, but always a competitive team. Some coaches in the past could not handle coach kerr's controlling attitude, but he is the head man and it all falls on his shoulders. Maybe he disrespected them as a person and that is something uncalled for. But as far as play calling and coaching, he is the final decision.
  6. This game is not as big as the one coming for both teams on friday. However, a home field game on friday would be huge! i expect AC to come out on top. Gibbs seems to be a young team, but have come on late in the season with more experience for the youngsters. Ac beat them handedly earlier in the year. It will be closer this time around but AC will win 5-3. Friday could be exciting if AC wins and Pigeon Forge loses or vice versa! Old coach vs old players for a shot on the dance floor! But either way its been a great year for both teams and both deserve to go. so i hope they dont' meet til the state championship game!
